Chapter 27

Book:Sweet Revenge Published:2024-5-28

The TV’s screen was completely blank for a few seconds. Then, female giggling was heard as a blurry figure appeared.
Hands reached out to the camera and adjusted the lens, as the blurry figure finally came into focus.
I held my breath as Catelyn appeared, swaying from left to right.
“Its on!” Catelyn said with a wide smile as she moved back.
Marcus and Max also came into view, both held beer bottles and laughed loudly. It was clear they were drunk.
I also couldn’t help but frown as they looked so different. Four years ago different.
My frown deepened as I eyed their clothing in the camera footage.
Surely that wasn’t what they were wearing when they murdered my parents. However from my memory it sure as hell seemed like it.
But then again I could be wrong. It was after all, four years ago.
“Catelyn,” Max breathed out as he went up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist.
“Catelyn,” Marcus said in a firm voice, even if he was drunk, “-this is stupid. This better get deleted after,” Marcus slurred.
Catelyn faced her back to the men and looked at the camera with a little sly smile.
“Oh don’t worry,” she giggled, “-it will.”
Catelyn then spun around, and picked up a tall glass from a nearby table. She went over to Marcus and Max with long strides.
“So, what are we celebrating too?” She giggled as she raised her glass in the air. Max glanced at Marcus as Marcus glanced at him, each with large smirks.
“We,” Max said with a pause, “-are celebrating to the upcoming wealth and power that we are going to gain,” Max paused as he tapped his glassed beer bottle against Catelyn’s cup, “-from this point on.”
Catelyn tilted her head with a small smile. For some reason, she didn’t seem so drunk.
What had she done?
“And how is that Max?” Catelyn questioned gazing into her glass as Marcus downed his beer with a laugh.
“We actually murdered them,” Marcus laughed in disbelief, “-and the gig at the bank the other week!? Priceless!” he laughed and Max joined in. However Catelyn remained silent.
This video must’ve been kept on purpose… perhaps a back up plan?
I watched the screen as Max slowly stopped laughing and frowned in confusion, in his drunken state.
“Wait, won’t someone know it was us who killed the Peterson’s? That we robbed them?” Max scratched his head and Marcus rolled his eyes.
My heartbeat picked up as I watched nervously.
“Max we’re all drunk yet just one of our brains seem to be working,” Marcus murmured, “-we planned it and went through with it. The Jonson twins are the believed criminals, and,” Marcus pressed as he slammed his beer bottle onto the table, “-It stays like that.”
Marcus seemed to sober up as he sighed and grunted. Glancing around, His eyes paused on the camera and he then squinted his eyes.
“Catelyn!” Marcus hissed at her, “-is that thing still on? Get rid of it now!” Marcus scowled and Catelyn stood up with a tight smile.
‘It’s off,” She shrugged.
She then walked over to the camera. Her body came closer and in seconds the screen was back to absolute blackness.
I stared at the screen in what could perfectly be described as shock.
Was this it? Was this the evidence we needed all this time?
I didn’t hesitate to look over at Alexander and Quinton. Quinton had on an emotionless expression as Alexander had a thoughtful one, rubbing his chin.
However, suddenly, Quinton shot up from his seat and laughed loudly.
“Yes!” he said as he balled up a fist and brought it down.
“This, this is definitely useful,” Quinton stated in excitement as Alexander and I remained silent.
“We have got to show this,” Quinton blabbered, “-to the world! to everyone!” he continued and Alexander slyly grinned.
I decided to get into the spirit as well. Because it was true, we did find something.
“Yes,” I slowly drawled out mysteriously as I rose from my seat.
“You’re right Quinton. And I know the best place to show it to the whole world,” I said in great victory as I walked over to the TV set and bent down to retrieve the tape.
“Where?” Alexanders low voice asked in curiosity.
I let out a small laugh.
“At Marcus’ celebration of course! There will be paparazzi’s, cameras and the most wealthiest people. Fireworks also considering it falls onto New Years. The perfect setting? Isn’t it?” I mused as I stared at the tape in my hands with an evil smile.
Alexander also stood up as he paced to the other side of the room. He rubbed his chin some more then froze.
“-so you mean tomorrow night?” Alexander asked with a raised eyebrow as he stared at me.
I tilted my head. I didn’t realize it was just in the near future.
“That’s exactly what I mean,” I grinned and Alexander returned it.
“Quinton,” I said facing him, “-you won’t mind setting up what has to be set up to have this projected will you?” I asked, not bothering to fight of the smirk that appeared on my lips, as I held up the tape.
“I certainly do not mind Victoria,” Quinton grinned as he walked forward and took the tape, “-It would be an honour.”
I gave him a large smile. I then looked over at Alexander who was already watching me. I adverted my gaze away from his and glanced at the floor almost somewhat shy.
I glanced back at Quinton to see him tilt his head, staring at Alexander and then slowly looking at me,
“Right,” he drawled out with a raised eyebrow.
“I should go get this organized for tomorrow night. The two of you should… whats the word,” he mumbled.
“Oh right. Catch up,” Quinton smirked and I raised an eyebrow at him.
“Quinton,” Alexander said in a harsh voice. Quinton ignored him and simply rolled his eyes. Giving us a small wave, he spun around and made an exit for the door.
Once it was shut closed behind him, I blew out a breath.
I glanced at Alexander who had his gaze on the floor. He didn’t look as excited as Quinton and I slowly walked near him.
“You don’t look that happy?” I stated even if it did come out like more of a question.
Alexander looked up at me and gave me an exaggerated smile.
“Of course I am,” he smiled and this time I rolled my eyes at him.
However I did feel bad. Certainly. He was always kind and simply wanted to help. He did want more than friendship perhaps, but with all this I couldn’t.
Although… with the tape in the picture…
“Well you should be,” I smiled as I stood close to him with a smile.
“With this tape, it could be all over. We could get to know each other. You could get to know Samantha,” I paused and Alexander glanced up with a raised eyebrow.
“We could do this, with out revenge in the way,” I whispered.
Alexander stayed silent for a few seconds. He then held my hands and gave me a real smile.
“You’re right. We could.”
