73. The Larva On Jess’ Face

Book:BROKEN : Satanic Verses Published:2024-5-1

“If I take her home, what will Elfara think of me? Everything will be revealed in the end.” Dev mumbles at the mist breaking through the gaps in the room. Her feet stomped forward, combing her steps towards the door.
“Devada ….” Elios appeared in the doorway after some time controlling Elfara’s condition. Dev’s eyeballs rolled coldly at Elios’s hand which presumptuously landed on the back of her hand.
“Sorry!” Elios quickly realized his mistake.
“I will take Elfara after her condition improves.”
“Think about it, Devada! Don’t make a hasty decision. You’re a girl, Elfara is a girl. How are you going to take care of her while we don’t know the criminal who hurt Elfara?” said Elios.
“You don’t know anything, Elios! I assure you, don’t take opportunity in adversity! Throw away what grows in your heart because otherwise you will regret everything.” Dev hurries away leaving Elios in a hurricane of question marks.
Until dawn, Dev never stopped thinking about Elfara and Jess. Dev is very happy, but she thought about the complexity involved. Two days at the villa after that day, Dev sees Elfara’s condition improving.
“Do you remember your mother and your little brother?” A sensitive question that Dev managed to throw up at one time. Elfara was silent. However, the look in her eyes emphasized many feelings that Dev Sasaka Erhan’s male instinct failed to understand.
“You should know how much your mother suffered because of your loss.” The news did not immediately open Elfara’s thin lips which were pursed, but the glass shining in her eyes was enough to explain everything.
Dev gently gripped Elfara’s hand past Elios’s back, which looked limp. The sweet young man walked limply behind them until they reached the seat of a four-wheeled vehicle. Forced to grant Dev’s wish to leave the villa. Which means, Dev refuses protection from Elios.
“Thank you!” said Dev. Their car stopped on the side of the road towards the lake.
“I hope we can meet again, Dev.” Elios replied with a look of sadness and disappointment in his eyes.
“Thank you!” One sentence that made both Dev and Elios suddenly dumbfounded.
“You’re like my family, El.” Elios smiled.
15 minutes passed, their journey ended. After a while Dev is talking to someone on mobile, Mehmet appears from behind the door. A smile appeared on the man’s face. Without a word, they entered the house.
“You know what? Daddy designed this room himself for you,” said Dev as her sister’s eyes couldn’t stop scanning all sides.
Elfara sat on the edge of the bed, a photo frame grabbed from the table. All the wounds spilled on the figures seen in the frame. A broken family, where she, Jess, Nick, and Dev can’t be pictured in the same place. They are all united in a collage.
“Welcome back Elfarasya Erhan.” This is the first time in a lifetime for Dev to say so warmly to her sister.
Next, Dev goes to meet Mehmet. Help prepare everything to welcome Elfara’s return. Several professionals were called in to help care for and make up Elfara and her mother. All kinds of dishes that Mehmet made were neatly on the dining table.
Dev checks her mother’s room and looks in amazement at the woman who has raised her. A sweep of natural makeup camouflaged Jess’ pale skin perfectly. Only a curve is carved from Dev’s lips because she is not good at praising the beauty that is in woman.
“From today onwards, all your sorrows will end, Mommy!” she said as she led Jess up to the seat of pride in England.
Rows of Brazilian specialties fill the 12-seat table. At the far right of the table, Mehmet sat on behalf of the late Nick. The three greet each other through gestures. Time later, a female servant appeared carrying a very elegant princess in a dark red suit.
Dev pulled up a chair, guiding her sister to sit facing each other with Jess. The two women looked down at each other from the start. Somehow, Dev had to start it.
“Jess, you don’t have to hide your face. You’re beautiful as always. Lift it up so you can see what surprise Dev brings.” Mehmet started the conversation.
Slowly, Jess’ head rose. She was silent for a few moments. Until Elfara did the same thing, the woman gave a reaction that made everyone confused. At first, Jess just stared. However, not long after, Jess was crying hysterically.
At first, Dev and Mehmet thought that Jess was too happy. Jess’ sudden movement of standing made a loud creak of the chair. She took her feet, but not to hug Elfara, but to go up the stairs.
“Mommy!” Dev runs after her mother while Mehmet, who has not recovered from his amazement, chooses to remain silent to accompany Elfara whose face is already covered in tears.
“Mommy!” Dev tries to calm Jessy down by hugging her, but it’s not easy. The four-headed woman was like a child in a tantrum. All items are the target of her hands. Dev cannot calm her mother by hugging her. Dev fell to the floor, only to find Jess suddenly calm.
“Mom!” call her. She immediately got up and grabbed Jess’ shoulder. When the woman turned around, her feet were dragged back a few steps.
Huh!
Jess instantly became a very scary figure that was able to make Dev’s vision strain. Without blinking, she was stunned by Cordylobia anthropophaga insect larvae that appeared on Jess’ partially hollow face. Jess’ whitening eyes shone firmly on Dev, then her mouth gaped open with lots of bugs and loud sound waves.
Dev cupped her hands on both ears hiding her face a little because the fly genus from the Calliphoridae family was flying at her in droves. The noise carries mystique, it makes Dev’s ears bleed. The rotten smell evaporates, making anyone who inhales it drunk.
Dev feels supernatural powers shackle her body. She tried to fight with the strength she had. Her vision was blocked by so many flies that she couldn’t see Jess at all. Breaking out, she looked for the door, but the bugs shackled her legs. Dev shouts loudly waving hand. Slowly, the flies disappeared.
“Mommy! Mommy!” Jess’ figure disappeared along with the parasites.
“Mom!” call her again.
Silence for a moment, Dev’s ears heard the sound again. Sounds like a helicopter, but if hear clearly, it’s not a helicopter. She approached the bathroom door. That’s where the sound came from. The door is locked, but the keyhole looks empty. From there Dev peeked, and she saw nothing, but a pair of child’s feet hanging over the glass ledge.
It only lasts for a while, Dev suddenly feels something go up to her feet. While checking, Dev stomped her foot until she saw the larvae scattered on the floor. The surprises aren’t over yet. From the gap under the door, Dev is shown something more terrifying than just a larva. Seeing that, Dev could only widen her eyes.
