Red liquid gushed out of Jess’ mouth. Dev and everyone else in the empty room looked totally shocked to see Jess’ horrific state.
“Mom!” Dev snatched the handkerchief out of Michele’s hand. With that she cleaned her mother’s mouth.
“Please help me clean it!” said Michele to the two men who worked at the hospital, pointing to the pool of blood that had flowed everywhere.
“But, Doctor … don’t you see that blood is like a pool of water filled with thousands of mosquito worms?” said the nurse.
“Why are you so fussy?” replied the doctor.
“Fast!” Michele’s jolt made them tiptoe. The two faces filled with doubt were forced to obey the doctor’s orders.
“Dev, here’s a new clothe for your mother. Put it on right away. I’ll be right back. I have to prepare some medicine for Jess first.” Dev nodded and immediately took care of Jess lovingly. She was not at all disgusted by the traces of liquid that came out of her mother’s mouth.
“Why are you taking care of me?” Dev, who was combing Jess’ hair, stopped moving her hands for a moment.
“You’re my mother,” Dev said, then she brushed Jess’ tangled hair again.
“I never thought of you as my child.”
“If that’s true, maybe I would have died by your hands long ago.” Dev placed the black comb on the table and tied Jess’ curls.
“I hope you’ll learn to accept reality. Don’t punish yourself anymore because everyone who hurt you have already been punished. That includes me.” Finished straightening Jess’ hair, Dev moved to face the woman who had raised her.
She studied Jess’ face. At first glance, Jess looked like a normal woman in general. However, a few seconds later, the pair of eyes she looked into revealed emptiness.
Anxiety began to creep in. The reason, Jess’ eyeball showed something strange. A girl looked down with her hair hanging down all over her face.
“She?” Dev immediately turned her head and found no one around her. However, the strange thing was that the shadow of someone in Jess’ eyes had not disappeared and it was only in her mother’s left eye.
“You won’t find what you’re looking for!” said Jess.
“What do you mean, Mommy?” Jess’ silence made Dev Sasaka Erhan suddenly think. There was an energy that made her entire skin drenched in sweat.
She fixed her gaze. Something moved from her mother’s tear hole. Like small parasites that can be found on carrion or rotten fruit. Dev glares as the tiny parasite pops out almost completely. She rushed to get a tissue. Just as she was about to pick up the yellowish-white caterpillar, a scream from outside caught her by surprise.
“Mommy gets some rest! I’ll check on them.” Jess complied, then lay down.
The place only had three rooms without soundproofing so the slightest sound could be heard clearly. After Jess closed her eyes, Dev headed for the front room. The place where the two officers cleaned Jess’ pretty much blood.
As she opened the door, her sneaker stepped on something sticky. She lowered her head and found maggots the size of an adult human finger starting to climb up her shoe.
Dev swings her leg so that the stinger crashes and crashes against the wall. Instantly she realized that the ridiculous larvae were not alone, but in great numbers.
“What’s this?” She couldn’t believe the maggots had taken over the entire room. In fact, it filled the bodies with the two officers who were already unconscious. They squirmed on the floor which was still wet with Jess’ vomit.
Moving quickly, Dev picked up her mother who had just started to fall asleep, then rushed out of the disgusting place.
“Does not make sense!” mumbled Dev. She ran towards Michele’s room. However, upon arrival, the doctor was not there.
“Excuse me, have you seen Doctor Michele?” Dev asks the passing nurse. However, the male nurse shook his head.
“Where is he going?” Dev gets very upset.
Uhuk!
Jess suddenly coughed. Dev immediately puts her mother down. A gush of red mingled with worms came out of the woman’s mouth again.
“Mom, what really happened to you?” Dev didn’t hear a word from Jess’ blue lips. However, from the look in her eyes, she understood the pain Jess was feeling.
Jess’ eyeballs sank upwards, Dev was getting more and more restless as her mother’s body convulsed. She had absolutely no idea what was going on with the skinny woman.
“Hold on! I’ll get help!” Dev leaves Jessy alone in the corridor.
“Anyone, help my mommy!” Dev’s screams echo along the run. However, everyone seemed deaf.
“Doctor … Doctor! Please save my mother,” She begged the doctor who was walking hastily.
“What are you talking about?” The bespectacled woman frowned.
“Help my mother!”
“Could you write it down for me?” The woman who looked about the same age as her mother smiled.
“Why write it down? Can’t you hear me?” Dev gets frustrated.
“Sorry, I don’t understand what you’re saying. All right, I’m in a hurry right now. I have a patient to attend to.”
“Argh!”
Feeling that nothing is expected, Dev runs to the medicine special room. The room was empty making it easier for her to find medicine. Her hands wriggled between the array of tablets and vials filled with incomprehensible liquids and capsules. After that, a frustrated scream escaped her throat.
“What should I give her? I don’t understand!” said Dev.
Panic made her again unable to control her emotions. It was not difficult for her to turn the room full of storefronts into a garbage dump.
“I’m stupid!” Dev slams her hand on the last remaining display case. Her anger was stopped when a banging sounded from the vault at the corner of the wall.
Her attention began to divert. She slowly dragged her feet there. The banging got louder and more frequent. A cutter on the table was taken just in case. Cautiously, she opened the cupboard sideways. A reaction is depicted when a man suddenly falls with a reddened skin condition.
“Uncle Michele! Who did this to you?” The man didn’t budge. Just to take a break to breathe or to neutralize the pounding in his chest, Michele leaned back against the cupboard. As he calmed down, he began his story.
“I was preparing medicine for Jess. A girl surprised me. She emerged from under the table. I don’t know why she was there. Obviously, every time she came near me, my feet walked backwards without being ordered to until I arrived at that stuffy thing. I can’t open it. It can only be opened from the outside.” Michelle explained.
“Is that girl limping and wearing a worn white robe?”
“Did you see her too?”
“Uncle, Mommy needs medicine right now.”
“I will prepare it.” Michele lifted his weight, then he realized one thing.
“Dev, you ….” Michele’s face turned red seeing that all the medicine had been destroyed.
“What are you doing with all these? Don’t you ever think, what will happen if all this is broken? You made a fatal mistake, Dev!” Dev gulped. What Michele said was absolutely true. Anger once again wiped out her sanity.
