“Honey, are you hurt?” Joana looked sadly at Elfara. The room temperature couldn’t cool the heat in the light-skinned girl’s brain.
“That’s okay. Thank you for helping me.” Elfara smiled sincerely even though her eyes were still wet. She immediately turned her face under the table so that Joana would not see her frailty.
“Don’t overdo it, it’s my job. I apologize for Veronica’s impudence.”
“It’s okay, forget it!”
“Why don’t you manage your father’s company? Wasn’t it all transferred in your name?”
“I just want to have a company built on my own hard work.”
“You are great, Elfara. How lucky Nick and Jess have a daughter like you.” Elfara smiled bitterly. In reality, she wasn’t that happy.
“Actually I’m in need of a secretary in my fashion business. If you wish, I can put you there.” Elfara was silent. Maybe feel awkward.
“You don’t have to worry. You will still go through interview procedures and psychological tests as usual.” Elfara straightened her neck, then nodded weakly.
“From now on, don’t be sad. Shift their bad assumptions against you, Elfara. You are a beautiful and smart girl. Disable them with your abilities.”
“Thank you, Mama Joana.”
“Do not hesitate. I’ll send the address later, you can come tomorrow.” A faint smile grew. Elfara decided to go home after feeling that there was no meaningful conversation. In the doorway, Jess greeted Elfara with an angry look. A mother’s habit that always makes her uncomfortable. In fact, the girl wanted Jess to be gentle with her once in a while. However, it seemed like it was just a dream. Elfara took off her shoes and walked past her mother without a word as she did every time she came home from work.
“Who let you go home with a stranger?” Jess’ curt voice instantly stopped Elfara’s footsteps.
“What do you mean Joana, Mommy?”
“Where did you meet that woman?”
“Please, Mommy, this city does not belong to Mommy. I can meet anyone and anywhere. Besides, why do you hate a woman as good as her so much?”
“Enough, Elfara! Don’t praise the snake woman in front of me!”
“Enough Mommy! That woman you call a snake has helped me many times.”
“Elfara!”
“Come on, Mommy. I want to rest. I am very tired!” Elfara walked away, ignoring Jess’ emotions that were almost at their peak.
Jess closed her eyes for a moment. If she hadn’t seen Elfara’s current condition, perhaps she would have been happier dragging her along right now. Jess went into her room, the television channel that had surprised her still on. The screen turned black after Jess pressed the red button on the remote. Moments later, Jess’ cell phone rang.
“Send the address. I’ll transfer your payment right away,” she said, before she hung up immediately.
The clock ticked swiftly, Jess checked the children. It was dark, they slept without filling their stomachs first. Her kitchen had grown cold since Elfara’s mood had deteriorated. Jess didn’t want to worry, things would get back to normal soon, she thought. Jess turned off all the lights and locked the door, then walked off with her automatic motorbike to a nightclub. Jess burst into the crowd of crazed humans who were drowning in eardrum-piercing music. Jess’ eyes darted around, the flickering disco lights making her nauseous. Several mashers rolled their eyes at her. Jess pouted, wanting to spit out her guts. The bloated bellies there didn’t interest her at all.
“Hey, beautiful!” Jess turned her head, a masculine-looking man approached her.
“Are you looking for someone to accompany your night?” The drunk man poked Jess’ chin, she slapped the impudent hand away before walking away.
“Hey, you damn bitch!” Jess squinted, one hand out of her ass. Two seconds later, the drunken man who was mocking her had fallen. No one wanted to care because everyone in this place was half-conscious.
“Who told you to challenge me!” Jess put the transparent mini gun back into her ass. She didn’t need to worry, the mini gun didn’t sound like a normal gun because it contained a deadly poison needle.
Jess looked around again until she could find the person she was looking for. A young man was sitting in a dark corner of the room accompanied by a woman who was dressed almost naked. The boy who was estimated to be twenty-six years old stopped his heated game when he noticed Jess’ sudden arrival.
“What wrong?” The girl protested as she followed the direction of her boyfriend’s eyes.
“Who are you?” The girl continued.
“Hey, Veronica and Brandon! Are you guys on a date?” The perverted couple were surprised to hear Jess say their names.
“Who are you?” they asked almost simultaneously. Jess smiled at the expressions on the faces of the sinners.
“You don’t need to know who I am. Obviously, I know you guys.” Jess smirked behind her black mask.
“Brandon Anthony, the son of a polisher whose hobby is extravagant.” Brandon’s face reddened.
“Do not talk nonsense! I am the son of a mining businessman, not the son of a polisher.”
“You don’t have to yell at me, I know everything. You just have to explain everything to your girlfriend, whose husband is still faithfully waiting at home. Yeah, right, Veronica? By the way, your son still hasn’t slept because he’s waiting for you.” Jess was overjoyed to see Veronica getting nervous and flustered.
“What’s this? Who are you? Why come to make a mess?” Jess took out her ringing cell phone, then showed it on purpose to Veronica. The young woman’s face paled, she tried to grab the phone, but to no avail.
“Give it to me!”
“Don’t like to snatch things that don’t belong to you, Veronica?” Jess smirked, a video call she had picked up immediately showed two men who made Veronica die of lice.
“Vero, what are you doing there?” A man looked suspiciously at Veronica.
“Mommy, when are you coming home? Willie is sleepy. Willy doesn’t want Papa reading fairy tales.” The five-year-old boy in the video chimed in. Veronica grew furious to see Brandon’s angry face. The woman who turned out to have a husband pressed the red button forcibly.
“Why the rush to turn it off? You haven’t even answered their question. What if the two men you love are worried about you?”
“Shut your mouth, Bitch?”
“Veronica!” Brandon’s baritone surprised the two women.
“Brandon, I can explain.”
“How dare you!” Brandon pulled Veronica’s hand roughly into his rented room, the man didn’t even give Veronica a chance to fix her clothes.
Jess smiled lopsidedly, she didn’t need to get her hands dirty to teach the people who had dared to insult Elfara. Jess was overjoyed to have awakened the young man’s vicious side. Once paddle, two islands crossed. Jess waved her hands, her gray eyes sparkling at the intense fighting in there. She could clearly see how Veronica was struggling at Brandon’s feet.
“You cheap bitch! How dare you deceive me.” Brandon grabbed Veronica’s hair mercilessly. Dissatisfied, the young delinquent kicked the woman’s stomach, who was no longer helpless.
“Please forgive me, don’t do this again! You tricking me too. What you did was unfair.”
“How dare you accuse me. I’m so stupid for giving my money and my chastity to a lowly bitch like you.” Once again, Brandon grabbed the woman who was leaning against the wall roughly.
“Stop it, you can kill me!” Veronica muttered under her breath, Brandon continued to take advantage of Veronica’s helplessness. Sweat mixed with blood, Brandon would not care even if the woman died.
Blow after blow locked Veronica’s movement. It made Veronica not run out of wits. She secretly took the accessory needle on her dress. The woman hit Brandon with a barrage of jabs. Brandon’s screams echoed, his piercing gaze piercing through Veronica’s retina. The drops of blood on the arm no longer fell as the black-haired youth lost consciousness. Veronica’s body shook.
For a moment, Veronica felt relieved to be free from Brandon’s torment. However, she suddenly held her head as she felt something. The ornate needle she was using to defend herself fell off just like that. Seconds later, the chaotic body fell onto Brandon’s body.
“This is fun!” Jess approached the two suffering people. A penknife came out of her blue jacket pocket. Jess moved the tip of her knife across their calves. A few pieces of meat, Jess put them in a black plastic bag.
“That little bit missing won’t kill you, will it?”

At home, Jessy walked lightly through the dark room. She didn’t want the sound of her shoes to disturb the children. Jess’ eyes narrowed, seeing that Dev’s room light was on. Apparently the young man woke up. As usual, Jess would check it out without permission. As expected, the young man was standing with fresh eyes. Perhaps, the eagle-eyed youth was starving. Jessy came at the right time, she tossed plastic bag slowly at Dev. The young man who was about to leave the room spontaneously stopped swinging his legs.
“You’re hungry, aren’t you?” Dev’s forehead furrows, he only catches a glimpse of his mother’s face. What was in the black bundle that he had caught perfectly? Not wanting to dissolve in curiosity, Dev immediately opened the black plastic. Instantly, the captive scent inside hits Dev’s senses.
“What is it?” Jessy didn’t like the expression her son showed. Without answering his mother’s question, Dev flipped the black bag over so the contents scattered.
“You gave me the flesh of sinners, didn’t you?” He took a slice of meat from the floor. Dev then approaches his mother.
“Shut up!”
“You taste it once in a while, Mom. It’s very tasty you think, right?” Dev gripped Jessy’s jaw gently, the fresh meat still covered in blood he sank into his mother’s mouth. Jessy pushed her son roughly as she pulled out the slice of meat that was stuck in her mouth.
“Insolent child! Fine, if you don’t want to eat. Let’s see how far you can survive without food.” Jess picked up the cutlet she had worked so hard to get, then placed it on the Bulldog’s dinner plate. Dev smiled sadly. How long will she hate him?
