Gabriella Monet POV
The day every vampire grew twice stronger and go on a killing rampage finally arrived. It’s was the day of the blood moon. That’s morning, I couldn’t feel Bianca’s presence as the cell was too dark and if she were to be around, I could tell. “Bianca,” I tried calling her but my voice came out as a whisper. It’s was too low. The door leading to the cell creaked opened and I knew today was going to be different like every other day. I was dragged out of the darkroom by two guards and led to the Arena ground.
The Arena was packed full of vampires and slaves. The vampire rejoiced as I was tied to a metal chair while the slaves murmured amongst themselves while pointing fingers at me. The Royals were all seated opposite me except for Slade who was nowhere to be found. I looked around for him but he was nowhere to be found.
“Why are my friends abandoning me when I’m near my death?” I thought as I felt tears well up in my eyes. Bianca was nowhere to be found and I couldn’t see Slade anywhere. I felt abandoned by my friends.
“We are all gathered here today to witness the final sentence of Gabriella, a slave who murdered the Queen a few days ago.” A vampire announced. He was standing behind the king but he was taking orders from him. “Since the slave had refused to confess to her sin, the king sentenced her to death by beheading!” The announcer declared.
My eyes widened when I heard the announcement. I was going to be beheaded. Beheaded! It’s wasn’t how I pictured my life. My whole body shook in fear and my heart raced as if I was running a marathon. I was scared as I feared for my life. I turned my eyes to look around me. Vampires pointed fingers at me including humans. They all judged me for something I didn’t do wrong. “No!” I shouted. “You can’t do this to me!” I struggled against the rope tied around me. “You can’t kill me when I know nothing about the Queen’s death. No!” I cried out.
“Everything will be fine.” I heard a voice whispered in my head and it’s sounded familiar. It’s was slades. He had spoken to me but I couldn’t see him anywhere. Where was he?
“Carry out the execution. She’ll serve as a warning to other slaves. ” The king declared.
Two guards untied me from the chair and pushed me to the ground. “You can’t do this!” I screamed as my hands were tied behind my back. “I didn’t kill her! You have to believe me! Please!” I begged for my life.
“Gabriella,” I heard a faint voice call. I looked up and saw Bianca standing in front of me. She grabbed my shoulders gently and embraced me. “Everything will be fine.”
Everyone was saying that and it’s was starting to piss me off. How was everything was going to be better when my head was going to come off my body. “Nothing will be fine!” I yelled sounding like a maniac. Those in the Arena thought I was crazy as they whispered amongst themselves. Words that I could hear.
“Is she going crazy?”
“She is one crazy human?”
“Who is she talking to?”
“I thought she was fearless.”
“All of you shut up!” I shouted. The Arena became silent on my command as everyone watched what I wanted to do. If I was going to end, I might as well give the king a piece of his mind before I do.
Biting my lower lips, I looked up at the king. “You are making a mistake. The one who killed your beloved is dining and sitting with you but you are too foolish to realize that.” I laughed like a maniac and looked towards Luciana who was seating beside her father. “I hope you are happy. ” I told her.
Luciana smirked and clapped her hands. “What a great show you traitor!” She stood up and walked towards me. “Even in your death, you dare to talk so lowly at me. ” she grabbed my jaw tightly with her long nails that were enough to give me bruises.
“I think you are forgetting something Luciana. If I die now, I’ll be reincarnated and the story will go on and on until I have fulfilled my purpose. You can’t stop my Destiny.” I retorted. “You can’t kill what is meant to live.” I spat on her face.
“You crazy bitch!” She raised her hand to strike me but a familiar voice ordered her to stop.
“That’s enough! Get your hands off her. ” Slade walked towards us and pushed Luciana away from me. “I am sorry I’m late,” Slade touched my face and trailed his fingers down to my lips. “You will be fine,” he assured me.
“I hope so,” I muttered under me breathe.
“Prince Slade! How dare you try to stop the execution!” The king stood up and rushed towards us. “She is going to die today and if you question my authority, I’ll kill you and make your brother the crown prince.”
“There will be no need for that,” I heard another voiced sound. Everyone turned towards the owner of the loud voice and I saw Anabella marching towards us.
Couldn’t this day get any better?
Anabella walked into the arena and bowed her head to the king. “Your highness, I have a confession to make!” She announced. “I am sorry Gabriella,” she mouthed the words to me.
I had no idea what she meant by confession but I hope it’s won’t affect her and her baby. “What do you have to say lady Anabella?” The king questioned.
“Yes, Can’t it wait until after the execution?” Luciana added. She balled her hand into a fist and glared hard at Anabella.
“No, it’s can’t wait because I have come to reveal who killed the queen. ” everyone in the Arena gasped at the discovery. No one expected it and that applied to me. Why would Anabella risked her life just to save me?
“What is it, Lady Anabella?” The king demanded in annoyance.
“The person who killed the king is….” Anabella paused and looked at me. “The person who killed the queen is…..” She paused again as if she was
afraid to say the truth.
“Say it Aneka,” Slade said through gritted teeth.
Anabella closed her eyes and when she opened them, I saw the look of determination on her face. “The one who killed the Queen is me!”
What? I thought I heard that wrong but it’s was loud and clear. Anabella had confessed to killing the Queen. That means she was going to die in my stead. The real killer was probably enjoying the show as she looked amused. Luciana burst into laughter that caught everyone’s attention including mine. “Seems the real killer has confessed her sin. Why not give her the punishment she deserved your highness?” Luciana scoffed and blew air on her fingers.
Anabella had gone crazy than I expected. Why was she sacrificing herself when she had a daughter on the way? I wasn’t going to allow a terrible death because of me. “Anabella! Stop lying! You know you didn’t do it.”
Anabella looked towards me and smiled brightly. “I love you,” she whispered. “Your highness,” Anabella fell on her knees and bowed her head to the ground. “Forgive me for not coming to confess. The real killer is me because I watched the Queen getting killed by Luciana but I hide the truth because of my selfish reasons.”
“You bitch!” Luciana lunged herself at Anabella but she was held back by two guards.
“Your highness,” Xavier kneeled beside Anabella. “My wife is not telling the truth. She was forced to confess by Prince Slade.”
“What are you doing? No, I wasn’t forced. I am telling the truth, your highness.” Anabella argued.
“But you told me on how the prince threatened you..” Xavier didn’t back down as he tried to change the king’s mind.
“Enough!” The king thundered and the Arena went into total silence. “If Lady Aneka is telling the truth then she must be punished, I have decided to…” The king coughed and fell to the ground with a wooden arrow stuck on his chest.
“Father!” Slade rushed to his side. “Where did that Arrow come from? ” Slade shouted.
“Go!” The king shouted and took his last breath as he closed his eyes in death. His face became pale and his veins became visible.
The mighty king had fallen but it’s didn’t end there. A fight broke out in the arena as vampires all turned to attack the humans. Luciana and her father stood in the middle of the Arena and from my hazy vision, I saw them smiling as if they were enjoying the show. It’s was all planned out by them from the beginning. They wanted to rule and the king was stupid to have trusted them. “Gabriella,” Some shouted my name and helped me up from the ground. “We need to leave now!”
“Why?” I asked Teale.
“Look around you Gabby, Tonight is the blood moon and everyone is going rampant. If you stay, you die!”
“What about Slade?” My eyes went over to the Slade who was still laying on the ground with his dead father in his arms.
“He will come to meet us.” Teale dragged me out of the arena but I keep staring at Slade afraid of what would happen to him. Teale dragged me to the castle garage and ordered me to me enter into a white Venza. “What about my sister and Slade?”
“Save yourself first! Slade will be fine!” Teale shouted at me and pushed me into the car.
He got into the driver’s seat and drove out of the castle. “Slade will be fine, it’s all part of the plan.”
“What plan?” I inquired.
“I’ll explain once we are out of here.”
“The king is dead! The humans are going to suffer now!”
“It’s going to be worse Gabriella. We can only hope for a miracle.” He answered.
The rest of the drive was in silence until we arrived at the cave where Slade had taken me to before. It’s was the cave we had our romantic lunch. “This cave is….”
Teale nodded in response and we both walked into the cave. The memories of the Romantic lunch flashed through my head as I walked deeper into the cave. “Gabriella! You are alive!” Daphne rushed to hug me when her eyes made contact with mine.
“How are you in this cave?” I questioned her because I didn’t expect to see her in the cave.
“Because it’s was all part of the plan.” I heard Kyle say behind her.
“Kyle!” I shouted. “Your father is dead,” I informed him.
Kyle nodded in response as if he already knew. “I know about that already.” He answered.
“There is someone you should meet,” Daphne informed me and lead me further into the game. A woman stood in the middle of the cave with only her back showing. I gasped when I realized who she was. I’ll recognize her anywhere. “Mum!” I rushed to embrace her. I was screaming for joy inside of me. My heart raced as I ran to meet my mother.
“Gabriella!” My mother ran halfway to meet me.
We both embraced each other as if our lives depended on it. I was glad to see my mother again.
