“But I need to protect Mommy!” Ben said seriously.
He blinked his eyes and said, “Last night, Dan and I woke up at midnight but we saw you spank mommy. Did mommy do something wrong?”
Both Dan and Ben saw it. And they heard Jane’s cries so they thought that Jane got hurt. They remembered that William told them that corporal punishments were bad.
“Yes, Daddy. Why do you always hug Mommy?” Dan asked.
Dan had seen it more than once. He also saw that William kissed and hugged Jane. They felt that William took Jane’s love away so they were jealous of William.
William looked awkward. He didn’t know how to answer it. He wanted to tell them that if he didn’t kiss and hug Jane, they would not come to this world.
Dayton was a good boy but the twins were challenging him every day.
“There is something precious on mommy,” William said.
He lied but looked natural. He hated lies but when he was faced with his sons, lies were the best solutions to their tricky questions. Or they would not let him go.
“What is it?” Dan asked.
He frowned and put his finger over his lips. He remembered that Jane had told them before that Dayton, Ben, and himself was her treasures so why did she still have other treasure?
William was rendered speechless and didn’t know how to answer it. Usually, the best solution was to change the topic. He said, “Do you want another brother or sister?”
“No,” the twins refused.
They had already had a brother so they didn’t want more.
Dayton was good enough and Pearl’s Cutie was their favorite sister.
“Even if you have a brother and sister, daddy and mommy will love you,” William coaxed.
William mentioned it because he and Jane may have more kids but it was not now. They didn’t have time and energy to have another one so he had been wearing protection.
Then the twins began to consider if they wanted a brother or sister. They decided to think about it carefully before they answered it.
Jane was looking forward to their date at night because they had not had a date for a long time. They thought that as long as the Underground Network was destroyed, they could take a break. But the work to deal with the aftermath of it was also stressful.
It took them a long time to recover and then they began to work.
William was no longer a workaholic anymore. He devolved his power to some of his trustworthy assistants but he was still needed in many decision-making works. He had to travel around for business trips.
William sighed when he looked at the young twins. He wanted them to grow up quickly so they could take over the Duncan Group. Then he could take Jane to travel without worrying about his business.
“It’s late. You should go to bed now!” William urged.
It was eight at night so he had to take Jane out. They would have dinner at a great restaurant and then go to the cinema for the movie at midnight.
After the twins went to bed, he rubbed his temples and felt relieved.
“Darling, I am ready. Let’s go?” Jane said.
After giving birth to three children, Jane’s figure was better. But she now wore a big coat and a furry hat in case she attracted others’ attention, which made her look like an innocent student.
William nodded and also put on a down jacket. He usually wore a suit even in winter but he would be the focus of the public if he wore it tonight. They want to keep a low profile tonight.
“Let’s go.”
Their cars were too expensive so William bought a normal black one for tonight. Although William called it a normal car, the car was still not normal and it was better than most people’s.
Jane grinned. She knew that William had compromised. She put on a mask and her gloves, nestling in his arms. The best thing to go out in winter was that they could cover every part of their body except their eyes so people didn’t know who they were.
Celebrities usually wore a mask and sunglasses in the public, which drew more attention. Maybe that was their purpose because they didn’t want to keep a low profile. They enjoyed it when their fans asked for autographs, which made them look popular.
“Don’t worry, we won’t be recognized,” Jane said.
William grinned. When he had that expression, someone would be in trouble!
If Mr. William didn’t smile, it meant that things were not that worse. But when he smiled, his employees would freak out. They liked it more when William stayed cold and serious.
“But we are being reported a lot,” William said.
Jane frowned. But she wanted to hang out with William.
They just showed up at the New Year’s Eve Party so people were talking about them.
Since they got married, they seldom had a date outside. So, Jane regretted it a lot. She was frustrated sometimes since she was known by the public.
“Trust me. We will have fun,” William comforted her.
He held Jane’s hand and looked confident. He was sure that no one would notice them because someone would draw people’s attention.
The Winter of City J was special. The night after the snow, people would gather on the streets, and then the night market began.
No one knew who started the night market. In short, the night market only began after the snow and the city officials would not stop it.
Vendors from all over the country would gather here. They yelled and showed their skills to attract customers. The price of their products was not cheap. Sometimes, it was expensive than normal ones. But a lot of customers came to their shabby sheds to have a taste.
The snacks were expensive but delicious and fresh. The taste of these snacks could not be copied by other places.
There were many skilled people in the public. Many fancy restaurants paid too much attention to advertisement and decoration but they ignored the taste of their food.
Jane had heard of the night market but she never came here.
Marie was a greedy and vain rich lady who would never come to places like this. So, after Jane came here, she had to be dignified so she could not do things as she liked.
Jane liked shopping. She enjoyed the process of looking for things she loved. Since she became a public person, she didn’t like going out after being recognized several times.
“I will take you to the seafood with rice noodles. You mentioned it before,” William said.
He always kept her words in his mind and it had become his habit. It was just a normal dish that could be ordered online. It was cheap but William asked Frederic and Robert about the dish and then he found this place.
