Olivia
“Olivia?” I heard Javier was calling me but my attention was focused on what was in front of me. Or who.
I couldn’t move.
I couldn’t breathe.
What’s he doing here?
I never expected to see Blake standing around a meter away from me. But he wasn’t looking at me, yet. He was looking at the suits display with Antonio beside him, probably explaining the models to him.
Was he stalking me again?
“Olivia?” Javier’s call broke my thoughts and I looked up to him. “Are you okay?” I didn’t answer him with my eyes returned to where Blake was and this time he turned around as his blue eyes were slightly widened and his mouth was parted a bit. I could see he had no idea I would be here, on top of that with Javier and I was scared to shit he would do something when his eyes were turned to Javier.
“Oh, Mr. Morgan?” Javier realized his presence in front of us as he moved forward with our hands were still entwining together. His eyes dropped to our hands and I could tell; he was not pleased at all. His mood darkened and he was pissed. “Good afternoon, Mr. Morgan.”
“Javier,” Blake greeted him back lazily. That was rather rude but I couldn’t bring myself to tell him that.
“Are you looking for a new suit as well?”
“I am.” I looked up between him and Blake, trying to adjust their exchange of conversation. When my mind finally adjusted the situation, I found my answer.
Javier was going to attend Blake’s business party.
I could feel his eyes on me but I tried to look away. Just stop looking at me! “I wasn’t expecting to see my niece here with you.”
“Oh, your niece was helping me choosing the perfect suits for your party. I must say, she had good taste and I can’t wait to wear it and show it to her.” I silently hoping Javier would stop because I could sense the murderous aura from my uncle.
“I was going to tell her so she could join as well,” Blake said and I looked towards him. Was he serious?
“You are? Well, I was going to invite her as well as my date at the party.” Blake broke his eye contact when Javier said that and turned to Javier. Oh, no.
“What do you mean?” That was it. This was where world war three would officially begin. In this boutique, in Black Onyx.
I felt Javier tightened his grip on my hand. “I just started dating your niece.” Oh, God. I could hear the ticking sound from Blake. He was so ready to explode. What was it going to be? Instant kill or punching his face? I counted in my mind.
Three.
Two.
One.
“I see.” But that was the only reaction I got from Blake. Although he sounded like he didn’t care; he was incredibly pissed. Maybe I should wait until he decided to come to me and made me talk about how the hell I ended up with Javier. “So, you will come with Javier, Olivia?” he asked in such a calm manner and I turned my head back to him. Why did he ask me that? Javier hadn’t invited me yet but if he invited me; I would come. But my mind was divided since I already knew Blake would be there as well.
I looked at Javier and he was smiling at me, possibly hoping I would come as well. Javier really wanted me to come for sure. I was his girlfriend and he had said before that he wasn’t really pleased about coming to a party and maybe by having me by his side, it would lighten his mood.
“Yes,” I replied by looking at Blake. “I’ll be coming with Javier to the party.” I looked back at Javier and found him smiling widely and he turned to Blake.
“I can’t wait.”
“Me as well,” Blake said where I caught the faded smile from him. It was just a second but I saw it, and usually, it was not a good sign. He was planning something. I hoped he wouldn’t trample my boyfriend right in front of my eyes or doing anything crazy.
Blake had very twisted minds. He was unpredictable. He was crazily mad. And that scared the shit out of me.
“So, Mr. Morgan? Would you like to do the measurement check?” Antonio slipped in and asked Blake. His eyes were still on me, observing, silently demanding an explanation from me. If he could, he wanted to hear my explanation right here, right now. But he won’t be getting one since Javier had no idea about us before. As far as Javier knew, Blake was a man who took care of me until my father came and took me with him.
“Sure,” he replied to Antonio without breaking his eye contact with me.
“Well, we should go now. We’re sorry for disturbing you, Mr. Morgan,” Javier said.
“No, you’re not.” I didn’t know why but his words sounded like had two meanings from it. Whether he was saying that we were not disturbing him or he was referring Javier that he was not really sorry for disturbing him. That was crazy if that was true. I meant Javier respected Blake so much and so as Blake.
“Shall we, Liv?” I nodded my head as Javier led me out of the store. I followed his lead to the entrance door but I could feel Blake’s burning stare on my back. If such glares could pierce me, my back would create a large hole. I thanked God that he didn’t do anything with Javier beside me and a lot of audiences watching us. “You’re okay?” Javier asked once we were outside.
I looked up to him and saw him looking worried. I wanted to say I was okay but I couldn’t bring myself to say that. “You’re tensed when he was around. I could feel it through your hand.”
“A little bit.” No, a lot! “I told you my relationship with him is pretty bad.”
“Despite he had taken care of you before?”
“Well, he disliked my father before because of what happened with my mother. And with me choosing my father over him, it pissed him off. He thought my dad doesn’t deserve me.” I felt bad because I couldn’t tell him the truth. It was partly true though. Although it was Blake who let me go, he still couldn’t believe my dad could take care of me. That was a pretty stupid move. If he thought my father couldn’t take care of me, I would not have a happy life with him and Cindy for two years.
“Maybe he’s just worried about you. I mean since he spent more life with you than your real father, he knows you better than your dad. And with your father who he thought had abandoned you suddenly appeared and wanted you back, he couldn’t trust him fully.”
“Yeah, I guess so.” I looked down, didn’t know what to say anymore. For two years, although sometimes Blake would come on special occasions, he and my dad were still not in a good relationship. My dad tried but Blake was being a stubborn ass.
I felt Javier wrapping his arms around my shoulders and brought me closer. He pushed his wet lips on my forehead as a silent message that everything would be alright. “Well, he just invited you to his party indirectly, Liv. He wants to fix it.” Yes, he’s trying to fix us…in a different way.
“Although I wanted you by my side at the party, I wanted you to spend your time with him as well. Just for the old-time sake so you two could fix your relationship,” Javier said. How could he be this kind anyway? Maybe because he didn’t have his real family and he didn’t want me to end up like him.
I wrapped my arms around his torso. “Thank you, Javier.” He returned my hold and placed a kiss on my head.
“I want to buy you a dress for the party since you’ve helped me choosing my suits.”
“I have some dresses.”
“I insist. I want you to wear something from me.” He pushed me away gently and tilted my chin so I would look up to him. “Please?” I wished he would stop that. He always did this. Begging me with his signature puppy eyes.
I instantly lost. “Please don’t buy me something expensive.”
“Roger that.” And he led me back to his car.
I hoped I could tell him the truth. Everything. The secret between me…and Blake.
