SPOTTED
” Her name is June. She was a twelfth-grade student when she died.” Ryder said.
” How she dies?” I asked. That’s when Both Jason and Ryder spoke at the same time.
” Murder,”
” Suicide,”
” What? Oh my gosh! What’s the true story? Don’t you know it?” I asked looking at either side.
” It’s not a suicide. It’s a murder.” Jason strongly confirmed.
” Go ahead. Tell what happened. I’m sure that it’s suicide.” Ryder responded.
” You got the wrong information. On prom, everyone stayed a little bit longer in school. That’s when this girl fought with her boyfriend. Their presence seems disturbances to others so they occupied this room to sort it out. When her boyfriend’s temper raised, he slapped without a second thought. He didn’t think it would cost her life. She fell and hit her head on the table hard. All that the boy saw is her blood flowing on the floor. He panicked and tried to wake her up. But it was sudden death. Then he went to jail for it. That’s the end of the story I have heard.” Jason said as I heard it and imagined it in my head. Oh god. That’s the fate of that girl’s life.
” That’s not at all. If it happened, the police would have surrounded our school. It never happened.” Ryder argued.
” The police came to our school on the same day. We aren’t old enough to be in prom. So you don’t know about that.”
” Okay. If you believe Jason is wrong, tell me the story you have heard, Ryder. Why did she decide to suicide?” I asked him to stop the argument over a dead girl who doesn’t even know we exist. Well, she doesn’t exist too.
” She decided to do it for a boy. She’s been crazy over him for more than two years. When she approached him, he rejected her even when he’s single. She was too depressed and even failed in all exams. Finally, she saw him dating some other girl. She was broken and decided to suicide in school. I heard June wrote a letter before suicide. That’s how I know this.” Ryder explained. Both the stories are about love and heartbreak. Why there isn’t any other reason apart from this? So, coming to the point, whose story is right?
” How do you believe, Emily. I’m sure this is the right story.” Ryder asked me.
” It’s a murder, Emily. Ryder’s story doesn’t make any sense.” Jason convinced me.
” First of all, it’s not my story or your story. It’s June’s story. Then, I don’t believe both of your stories. I think it’s all a different type of rumours. June’s the only one who knows the truth. Can we go to class now? This class is really creepy. It’s freaking me out. I can’t even see your faces clearly.” I told him. But I got no place to move my legs.
” It’s okay if you can’t see my face, you can hear my voice, right? We are staying here for a while.” Ryder whispered in my ear. His breath tickled my ear.
” Actually, I skipped the class to you for the first time. So, we are not going back.” Jason firmly said. I hesitated to reply to something. But to my surprise, the lights in the room turned on. We got caught. Ryder said this place is safe. I adjusted my eyes to the light after staying in the dark. I looked up with embarrassment, thinking it would be any teacher. But it’s Pearl.
Pearl and Dylan.
” What the hell are you doing here, Ryder?” Dylan asked in a high pitched tone.
” Nothing. Just talking. Have you been searching for me?” Ryder replied. He still hasn’t taken his legs from the table.
” Searching? Of course, I was searching. We skip classes together. Now, we have gone without saying anything.” Dylan spoke seriously.
” I’m sorry, Em. It’s all because of me. You stood up for me and ended up fighting with her.” Pearl apologized.
” Who will stand up for you, if not me, Pearl? Crystal is crossing her limit.” I furiously said. I took this moment to approach Pearl and get out of this creepy class.
” You are right. But avoid Crystal next time. I don’t want any problems for you.” She said caringly.
” Get up, dude. You made me wonder over the whole school in search of you.” Dylan scowled.
” Calm down. You found me, right. What’s the problem?” Ryder replied.
” So, we are leaving the room. Are you feeling better, Milly? I hope June’s story was distracting from our problems.” Jason asked, wrapping his arms around my shoulder.
” You added one more problem, Jason. I’m wondering how the girl died. I haven’t got the true answer yet.”
” That’s the mystery which stays hidden forever. Forget it. Let’s get back to class.” we all headed out of the class as a group of friends.
” So, would you mind if I ask you something?” Pearl asked formally. Maybe, she’s talking like this, since Jason is next to me.
” Say it, Pearl. You aren’t going to say something which makes me angry.” I said as I slowly walked while waiting for her to speak. But when she did, it was something which I don’t want her to ask in public.
” Okay. When I say you with Ryder and Jason in a deserted class with all the lights off, the first thing that came into my mind is that you are having a threesome.”
What. the. hell
I almost lost my balance and grabbed her hand to steady myself while Jason burst into laughter.
” Is that what you think of me, Pearl?” I glared at her. My voice got stuck in my throat. Somehow I managed to say it.
” No. Of course not, Em. I just said what comes into my mind. I would have told you privately but you told me to say it.” She replied, trying not to laugh.
” You should have,”
” It’s funny that your friend has such an imagination,” Jason commented.
” Hey, what’s going on? Are you talking…” I heard Ryder’s voice from behind me.
” Pearl is stupid to think that we had a threesome in that haunted class.” I blurted, turning my head back.
” I was about to ask ‘Are you talking something without including me?’. Is it true? Even Dylan doesn’t have a thought like that.” Ryder took it funny just like Jason. Now, I blurted it when Ryder doesn’t even hear our conversation.
” It’s not my fault that I thought like this, Em. I have been seeing the ‘Elite’ series which made me wonder about a threesome.” Pearl said, laughing in the corridor. Some students looking at us as we went crazy.
” Do anybody watched ‘Elite’ here?” Pearl questioned.
” Is it really important, Pearl?” I raised my eye at her instead of answering her question. My answer would be ‘yes’. I watched it. Before I could respond, a paper hit my face coming from somewhere.
” What the heck is it?” I removed it to take a look at it.
