HAUNTED ROOM
” You aren’t a coward, Emily. You are not going to say this to your mom and get back to Paris. I don’t want that to happen and definitely not because of Crystal.” Jason stubbornly said. I’m not a coward. I don’t wanna be a coward. I need to face this. I can’t imagine myself entering into my class again when all are talking and laughing about this fight by seeing the footage. I wish I could put an end to this.
” We can talk about it later. Right now, she needs some ointment.” Ryder reminded by seeing my elbow and legs which are slightly bleeding from the pressure I had given to them in the ground while fighting crazily. Did you hear it? Crazily. I’m ashamed of it.
” I don’t need any ointment. I’m skipping the class and sit somewhere I can be alone.” I replied but Ryder’s grip on my hand hasn’t changed. He’s holding me still but his voice isn’t angry.
” Just put some ointment. Then we can skip the class. I promise you.” I looked back and forth at Ryder and Jason.
” Yeah, then tell me what did she done? I know it’s not your fault.” Jason said. I slowly nodded and followed them to get some ointment from the medical room. No one uttered a word until I entered the medical room. My mind is constantly thinking about Crystal. I want to do something bad to her. But my question is, will she do something to me before I could plan anything? She’s capable of doing anything to me. I can expect the worst at any time.
” Are you feeling better now, Emily?” Jason asked, tucking my messed up hair behind my ear. My hair is messed up but I got rid of some of the tangles with the help of my hands.
” Yeah, I guess I’m okay. Where can we go now? I’m surely not going back to class.” I said, getting afraid that the boys may take me back to class to face the challenge. Fortunately, they didn’t.
” No problem. We are going to stay in any empty class on the ground floor.” Ryder decided it by himself.
” Are you sure it’s a safe place? I know you are a scholar in skipping classes but still, I can’t really trust you.” Jason said, glaring at him.
” I don’t need your trust at all. But I know a deserted class where no one enters.” Ryder replied, either side of his hands on his pocket. We followed him until he stops in front of a class which may look like a haunted one without any lights.
” Could you please turn on the lights? This place feels scary even in the daytime.” I asked, standing close to Ryder and Jason.
” That’s the vibes in here. Because a girl died a year ago. Or I can say suicide.” Ryder calmly said as he sat on a bench with his legs on the writing-table.
” Are you serious? A girl died? Suicide? This isn’t the right place to feel safe.” I refused to sit and took a step backwards to the entrance of the room.
” Calm down, Milly. It’s been a year. It’s not like the girl’s going to watch us by sitting next to us staying invisible.” Jason said pushing me forward. Now he had given me a broad imagination. Maybe the girl might be next to us. But we can’t see her. I’m not only gone crazy but also starting imagining something crazy.
” Fine. I’m not afraid since you both are here,” I muttered and finally took a seat and looked at the empty blackboard.
” So, tell me what did Crystal do to you?” Jason came straight to the topic. I couldn’t hide it but I’m feeling uncomfortable by telling this to both of them at the same time. When I finished saying it, Jason has a furious look while Ryder is thinking something deeply with a serious face.
” There’s nothing wrong in getting into a fight. But you could have told me, I would have done something better. Something that will make her shiver if she sees you again.” Ryder said.
” I can’t see the point. She was the one who cheated. She got no reason to show her anger towards you.”
” She wants you back, Jason. Even after all that she had done. I saw the look on her face when she saw you made an entry.” I told him.
” I’m don’t give a fuck. She doesn’t deserve me after what she had done. I thought I put an end to her but I didn’t.” Jason said. After a short silence, Ryder spoke.
” From what you have told, I think she’s stalking you.” What? Why does she have to do that?
” I don’t get it, Ryder. What benefit does she’s going to get if she stalked me?” I questioned him. The way Ryder said it, makes me think more about it. What if it’s true?
Then Ryder turned towards Jason.
” Crystal blackmailed you by saying she’s pregnant. From what I have heard, she tried many things to keep you with her. I don’t think she will stop after the breakup. She does everything in a blackmailing way. Then she wants to find something useful by stalking Emily to use it against you. You know her more than we do. So, what do you think about this? Is she capable of doing it?”
” It makes sense. She can go nasty and evil if she wants to. You are right? It’s my fault. I should have done something instead of simply breaking up with her.”
” Yeah, it’s your fault. But I don’t think we need to discuss her or be afraid of her. She’s not worth it.” Ryder carefreely said. He has already seen many things in his life. Crystal can’t be compared to what he had seen in his life.
” We can’t underestimate anyone. But, right now, tell me some ways to get rid of that footage. Everyone will be spreading it and making fun of it.” I said in frustration.
” I can get a hacker to handle this but I may need some days for it. Even if it’s deleted, we can’t delete it from other’s mind, Milly. You know about yourself. Don’ take her stupid words to your heart.” Jason advised me.
” I will try,” that’s all I said.
” Now that we can stop talking about that bitch and get on with this ghost story. Can we, Emily? I will turn off the lights and tell you about that dead girl.” Ryder started purposefully. He knows I’m afraid. I don’t like the vibes in here. I hope Jason will say that Ryder’s talk is silly.
” I don’t want to take your side but this idea is great. I heard many things about that girl and I even see her in real. I also feel sorry for her.” Jason said as he went to turn off all the lights. This class is in some corner on the ground floor and got no daylight which makes me think like I’m in school at night time.
It already happened in my life when I’m in Paris. In a special occasion in school, I urgently wanted to use the restroom but I got no friends to accompany me. I went all alone on the stairs and the long corridors. It’s scarier than a haunted mansion. There’s not even a single light in the first floor till the last floor. I climbed all three floors in total dark. I got afraid of my own shadow. My heart was in the throat. I may read a lot of book with a brave female protagonist but it’s too scary in a situation like that. Fortunately, the restroom light was the only light which is turned on the whole time. I feel like I did some riskiest job ever.
” I can rather go to the class than staying in a haunted room. I heard enough ghost stories which makes me run the hell out of this room.” I said.
And then there’s total darkness. I can’t stop these boys with their desire to made me afraid.
” So, who’s starting the story and what’s the girl’s name?”
