Ceres Taylor’s POV
I got into the car silently and fastened my seat belt. Without asking where he was going, I turned my head and looked out of the window silently.
Now she had completely changed. The girl who always argued back had become so lonely and silent.
When the car arrived at the restaurant, I asked her what she wanted to eat, but she just said it in a restrained manner. She had always been very careful, but she could not hide her absent mindedness.
Jeffrey Scott didn’t mention anything about Ben Scott. After dinner, he took her to a shopping mall. When they arrived at the phone counter, he said to her, “choose one you like.””
I took a look at it and then realized that he was going to buy me a phone. I immediately shook my head and said, “I don’t need it…”
I really don’t have any money or luxury now. Besides, it’s useless for me to take my phone. No one will call me, and I don’t have anyone to contact.
Impatiently, Jeffrey Scott stepped forward and picked a pink phone that little girls liked. He asked the shop assistant to place the order.
I just stood behind him and glanced at the price of that machine. It was more than 1 thousand.
Although it’s not the most expensive one, it’s beyond my endurance. However, I didn’t have any chance to refuse it. He went straight to swipe the card.
After going through all the formalities for me, he got on the car and saved his own phone number. Then he handed the phone to me. “Turn it on at any time. Don’t let me unable to find you.”
I looked at the phone and didn’t dare to reach for it. He threw it directly into my arms, and then took out a card from his wallet. “It’s a new one. The password is six zero. You can change it when you have time. There is only twenty thousand in it. I think it will take you a long time to save money.”
Looking at the card he handed over, I hurriedly pushed back his hand and said, “I really can’t take your money.”
“Do you think I give it to you for nothing? When you get better, you will come back to work and pay back the money you owe me slowly.”
I was stunned and asked, “… Can I go back to work?”
“As long as you say it.”
Now I know it’s not that easy to find a job. I still have such a high salary. If possible, I’m willing to go back to work.
“You always need money. Take the card and return it to me after work.”
Hearing this, I took the card.
I really have to accept his help now. I will keep the money in mind. Pay it back slowly.
But I didn’t see Ben Scott today. I always felt that something was missing and I was worried about him. I wondered how he was recovering.

The Campbell was still standing in the city center. People came out of the company one after another at the off duty time.
“Ceres, it’s time to get off work. Are you going to stay here to work overtime again?”
I raised my head from the computer and smiled. “There is still a program that hasn’t finished yet. It will be finished soon.”
In a few minutes, I was left alone in the office.
i took a deep breath, slowly closed the computer and began to clean up the documents on the table.
I didn’t know how i had gotten through this period of time. I had been very busy and tired every day, but i still thought of Ben Scott all the time.
I haven’t seen him for such a long time. I don’t know how he is recovering.
I don’t think he has regained his memory. Otherwise, he must have come back to see me.
“Knock, knock, ”
The knock on the door brought me back to my senses. When I raised my head, I saw Jeffrey Scott standing against the glass door, looking at me. “It’s time to get off work,” he said flatly
I picked up the sorted documents and followed him out of the office side by side.
I have been staying at his house these days, and he just came from a business trip today. We haven’t seen each other for more than half a month.
Standing in the elevator, I kept silent for a while and said, “I found a house outside. I’m going to move there on weekend.”
Jeffrey Scott was stunned for a moment, and then simply replied, “okay.”.
Although she had everything now, it didn’t mean that she belonged to him.
Because of his help, her attitude towards him had changed a lot. At least, she was obedient to him, but more restrained.
“Where are you looking for the house?”
“The apartment behind the company.”
“How could a person live in such an old neighborhood?”
With a wry smile, I followed him out of the elevator and said, “I went to have a look. The environment is good.”

However, under the pressure of Jeffrey Scott, I had no choice but to take him to the house he was about to live in. Looking at the narrow and dim staircase, he mocked, “the environment is really good. Open the door and have a look.”
I pursed my lips and felt a little guilty. I turned the key in the lock for a long time before I opened the door, which made Jeffrey Scott grumble, “I think the thief opens the door faster than you.”
I didn’t dare to speak and pushed the door open sulkily.
Jeffrey Scott walked around the room and said, “are you used to living in prison? You have found a home that is as good as prison.”
I lowered my eyes and didn’t say anything. I know the environment in the room is bad. I’m not stupid.
But now I don’t have the ability to extravagant it.
“The salary of the company is not low. Can’t you find an apartment to live in?”
Then I said weakly, “I have to pay you back.”
Hearing that, Jeffrey Scott smiled helplessly and said in a bad tone, “so you want me to feel sorry for you now and force you to live in such a place in order to pay back my money?”
“… No. everyone else can live here. Why can’t I?”
“Well, you are really a strong woman. Then you can live here. I will move your things here later!”
I was a little confused by his roar. Before I could react, Jeffrey Scott slammed the door and left.
The moment the door was slammed shut, the loud sound made my body tremble, as if the frail iron door was about to be broken by him.
There was only a broken sofa in the room. I walked over and sat on it. Holding my body, I couldn’t help crying.
I didn’t know why, but i just felt very sad.
All the unhappiness seemed to have happened at this moment.
Soon, there was another knock on the door. Jeffrey Scott brought all my belongings here. As soon as I opened the door, he threw his suitcase into the room, and the things inside were scattered all over the ground, in an extremely embarrassing state. After leaving the things, he did not stop, nor did he even look at me before he left directly.
Jeffrey Scott had noticed that Ceres Taylor didn’t come to work this morning, so he had heard from others that she was on vacation.
She had been sick these days. Did she ask for leave because her cold was getting worse and worse?
His heart was full of worry for her. After work in the afternoon, he drove directly to her place.
When he learned that Ceres Taylor went out this morning, he came back soon and stayed at home the whole day.
Jeffrey Scott didn’t know whether she could cook by herself in that shabby place or what she had done the whole day.
He had been cruel enough not to care about her, but when he thought of her current situation, he found that she had no relatives or friends around her.
He knew her too well.
Standing in the dark corridor and looking at the rusty door, he hesitated for a long time before he raised his hand and knocked.
The force was not strong, but the sound was loud.
I was stunned and sat up on the bed. I don’t know who would knock at the door. Is it the landlord? Or charge for water and electricity?
There is no peephole or safety door in the room. I asked vigilantly, “who is it?”
“Open the door.”
