The viewpoint of Irene Nadine
Perhaps I was bored because of the weather. I abruptly halted Ryan Campbell’s car as it drove by the river and said, “Stop the car.”
Ryan Campbell slowed down, turned to face me, and inquired, “What’s the matter?”
“I’d like to go for a walk down there.”
“It’s pouring.”
“Simply open an umbrella. Return first. I’ll return later on my own.” I opened the car door as I spoke. Ryan Campbell dashed out of the car and pulled an umbrella from the trunk to help me. “What? Angry?”
I extended my hand to take the umbrella from his grasp and said, “I’m full, I get a little dizzy. I’ll go for a walk.”
“Do you think I’ll let you walk alone in the night?” Ryan Campbell asked, raising his umbrella high and avoiding my hand.
“Suit yourself.”
My head was clear after stepping off the car in the wind and rain, and my heart was not as bored.
Ryan Campbell handed me his umbrella and removed his coat, which he draped over me. “Don’t catch my son cold,” he added.
I didn’t say anything. In any case, all he did was for the baby in my womb.
