I HAD been sitting in front of her closed door for almost half an hour. I wonder if she’s still coming out or what’s going on with her inside.
I can’t stand this anymore. I stood up and…
“Ma! Ma, open it!” I shouted as I slammed the door. “Ma! Will you open it or will I destroy it? ” I shouted again.
I waited a few more seconds, a few more minutes, and…
BLAG!!
I kicked her door. I repeatedly kick it until it’s open. A loud noise was made when I kicked, so Ben and Nick went up that instant.
“Mother Clint!” exclaimed Nick. “What’s that? ” “Clint, why?” Ben followed.
I knew that would happen. But I can’t do anything anymore. I don’t want to keep quiet anymore because I know that Mama Cha has a problem and she’s not in such a good condition that she tries to hide it from me. When I entered the room, I found her crying.
“Ma! Ma, what’s the problem?” My voice was loud. I haven’t held back yet.
Ben and Nick immediately followed me.
“Ma! What’s wrong? Let’s talk! Please, what’s wrong? ” I shouted.
But she still did not say a word.
My other friends also got up when they heard me shouting.
“Clint, is there a problem?” Ben asked me gently.
I looked at Ben. I kept on biting my lip too hard because of anger. I kept on holding back and I was crying too.
“Clint, Aunt Chari is crying. I think she’s not feeling well, so stop it—don’t do that Clint, talk nicely to her!” Nick said to me, then rubbed my back.
Daddy Gee told everyone to go down first. Nick explained the situation to him, so he followed.
And again.
“Ma! Talk to me! Talk to me please! What’s the matter? Please tell me, you have been avoiding me for a while,” I said, sobbing.
“Clint! Can we talk first? ” Ben said.
I saw that Mama Cha just kept crying, like a child still nodding her two shoulders. At that time, I didn’t care if they all knew about what was happening to Mama Cha and me. I couldn’t stand it anymore. I know something is wrong, but she’s just keeping it from me.
“Get Clint out, Ben,” I heard Mama Cha say.
I couldn’t help but cry and cry while clenching my fists. It’s not that I want to hurt Mama Cha, it’s because I’m guilty of what’s happening along with anger. And I know that it’s all my fault.
“Ma! I know I made a mistake! But I’m sorry. We’re okay, right? I said sorry, right?” I cried. “Don’t do this to me! You can’t just hide everything from me! What if you’re sick of what’s happening to you? Ma! Hmmm… ” I said, crying. “Talk to me please..”
I saw Ben and Nick looking at each other. He signaled to get me out, and I also saw that Mama Cha had come out of the room. They don’t understand or why I’m like this, but because we’ve been together for so long, they know there’s a big problem. They know that it’s not ordinary. I rarely act like that. They haven’t seen me crying like a madman before.
“Ma! Ma! Talk to me!” I was about to chase her, but Nick and Ben grabbed me in both arms. “Let go of me, Ben! She’s leaving again! She will leave again! Stop her, please! Don’t let her leave! She keeps on avoiding me! ” I shouted while struggling.
“Clint! Clint, let’s talk! Let’s talk Brother!” Nick said to me while rubbing my back.
“Ah! Haa! Hmm ..” I keep sobbing.
I sat on Mama Cha’s bed, bent down while covering my face, and kept crying. “The f**k! Help me, guys! I’m having a hard time! ” I said to Ben. “Help me please..! I can’t take it anymore! Hmm… ” I whimpered, sobbing.
I was no longer ashamed of what my friends would think of me and they witnessed my weakness as a man who was hurt so much at that time. I was no longer ashamed to cry in front of them. My chest would blow up with too much restraint. That’s why I let it all out.
“Clint, what’s the matter, brother?” Ben asked.
I can no longer answer. I can’t speak. I could hardly breathe properly because I cried so much. I have experienced crying, but not in this kind of situation.
“I love Mama Cha! I don’t want to lose her. I f**kin’ love her so much! ” I said, sobbing.
“Did Trina have anything to do with this?” Nick asked. “What are you arguing about?”
I would have answered. But unexpectedly,
“Clint? What’s wrong? ” Trina suddenly said, standing outside the room where the three of us were.
We looked at each other at the same time.
“What’s that?” Aunt Maggie shouted. “Why is the door broken? Where is Chari.
Trina approached me.
“Are you okay, Clint? Is he drunk, Ben? ” She asked while rubbing my back. “What are you arguing about? And why are you crying, baby? I heard my name, right? ” She said.
“Aah.. Trina.” Ben would have explained.
But I got up. I’m not in the mood to feign today.
“Clint!” Trina chased after me.
“What’s wrong?” Where’s Chari? ” Aunt Maggie asked.
I did not answer. I left the room and went straight to my room.
“What happened here, Ben?” I heard Trina ask.
“It’s his birthday today! Why should he be like that? Do you think it’s about good news? ” Aunt Maggie said.
“Aunt, why would Aunt Chari be angry if she found out I was pregnant?” Trina replied.
I was shocked. They were just across from my room, so I could hear them talking.
“Wh-what? You’re – you’re pregnant? “Nick asked, stammering.
“Yep! It was my birthday present to Clint, but it didn’t seem like the right time. Maybe I’ll come back tomorrow. ” Trina replied.
“Why tomorrow? Besides, Chari already knows about it! We talked at the coffee shop earlier. ” Aunt Maggie said.
Now I know why Mama Cha cried like that before. When I caught up with them at the coffee shop where Aunt Maggie was talking earlier, I could see the sadness on her face. I also noticed that she seemed to have cried earlier. That’s the reason, she was told. She already knew about that news.
“Let’s go home, Trina, you can’t stay in this atmosphere, the smell of alcohol! Bad for the baby, let’s go.”
“All right, I’ll give it to Clint first.”
She knocked on my door.
I opened the door so as not to notice that I was listening to them.
“Happy Birthday!” Trina greeted me with a kiss on my lips. She also handed me a white envelope.
“Hope that this will make your day, baby.” She said softly to me.
After that, they leave.
When they finally got down, Nick and Ben approached me.
“Open it, brother,” Nick said.
I opened the white envelope.
“Congrats, brother! You’re going to be a dad,” happy, but Ben’s smile was not real.
An ultrasound result was given to me by Trina. I don’t know how to act. Mixed emotions happen to me during those moments.
“Shall we tell the crew? That’s good news, Clint! Is this your best birthday ever? That’s a blessing, brother! You should be happy! Smile Clint!” Nick said.
I was speechless. The only thing running through my mind now was how I would explain it to Mama Chari, who I knew had been completely heartbroken as she knew.
“Oh, God! Where the hell is she?” I uttered.
