She was really excited about the new information she was able to get her hands on and wanted to share it with Dimitri so she thought of waiting for him to get back from work while she busied herself with some of the online lectures she was preparing for her students for the next semester.
After about some minutes, she was done and really wanted to share it with someone but wanted that someone to be Dimitri.
When she had informed her dad about what she found about Daniella being the mastermind behind the issues in their company and how she was able to buy the loyalty of some of the greedy employees to tamper with the model they were testing but made it look like some technical issues caused it.
Kingsley was really angry and worried when she told him but she assured him that she would come up with something and with Dimitri wanting to help out, they would come up with how they could beat her to her games before she strikes again.
Now she had a piece of new information and wanted to let Dimitri in on it so that they could start working on it ASAP but all excitement she felt suddenly died down when she saw them in the position that they were in as she entered his office.
He had pushed Daniella away from him and was looking at her with worry.
Why was she hugging him? Why was she even close to him? What was she doing here? Did he invite her? Was he expecting her? Why is she here?
Why was he this close to her? Why is he letting her be this close to himself? Why does he have his hands on her arms when she came in? What is going on between them? Was he aware of what she did before she opened up to him about it? Did he plan it with her?
Those thoughts and many other thoughts ran through her mind as she stares at a smiling Daniella and panic-looking, Dimitri.
Is there something between them? Was there something more between them in the past? Or is he secretly having an affair with her? Because if that was the case, it will hurt her so much.
She recalled his statement from their engagement ceremony and how possessive he was when he saw her with Philip… and here he is with someone that smiled with her and at the same time backstabbed her and not just with her but he was hugging her.
She really doesn’t know what she should think about what she saw… there wasn’t any sign that he was doing something behind her but she can’t be sure till any of them say something to assure her that nothing is actually going on.
Hugging could be friendly…there wasn’t anything wrong with hugging anybody but when that person was someone hurting the one you claim to care about, then there is an issue.
That didn’t stop the feeling that something more was really going on between these two in the past but what made her shocked and sad was that he left out these details about her when he was telling her about his past.
Maybe if he had said something then she wouldn’t have to feel what she is feeling at the moment and would maybe want to listen to him… that is if he is ready to say something to her.
She looked from Dimitri to Daniella and then back to Dimitri as she waits for any of them to say something but she was actually hoping that he would say something before the red-haired think of saying anything.
When it looked like no one was going to say anything, she decided to speak up.
“What is going on here?” she directed it to both of them then turned her attention to Daniella who didn’t look fazed or affected by what is going on.
“What are you doing here? Why are you here?” she frowned when she asked and Daniella shrugged then sat on one of the chairs, crossed her left leg over her right leg then grinned at her.
“So, you know?” she said after a moment of silence and that brought a wave of sudden anger to Audriana’s features.
She really wanted to get dirty with her and let her know she can’t just mess up with people like she wants to.
“About how you stupidly and cowardly tried to ruin I and my dad’s company? Oh yes, I am very much aware of that and I will make sure to put you behind bars for almost causing future damages and tampering with my company’s important information” she spat angrily.
What surprised her was the level of calmness Daniella was able to attain… it was like her words were nothing but lifeless threats that wouldn’t put her in prison whatsoever.
“Oh, come on Audriana. That was a long time since it happened, don’t tell me it makes you mad?” she said with an eye roll then stood up and went to stand beside Dimitri.
“You know about us?” she asked touching Dimitri’s arm but he was quick to swat her hand away from his arm and then moved some steps away from her with a frown settling on his face.
Audriana could feel her heart jolt when she mentioned ‘us’.
She was right all along, there was something more that went on between them, or maybe it is going on between them.
“You guys?” she frowned then looked at Dimitri who hasn’t said anything yet but had a pained/scared look on his face.
“Loveth…” he spoke when he was able to form something to say but she talked over him.
“Is that true? Is–is there… is there something between you both? Something you aren’t telling me?” she asked and hope that there isn’t anything going on between them.
It would be okay if it was all in the past even though she will be a bit mad and hurt that he didn’t tell her but let her find out herself but she was hoping nothing was actually going on between them.
He didn’t say anything but just looked at her and what she could read was Daniella’s words were true… he wasn’t saying anything to defend himself so it has to be true.
She suddenly felt the urge to cry but bit her bottom lip to gauge it… she wasn’t going to let them see her cry even though it hurts.
“There is something going on between you both? How? When? You were with her all the while you told me those lies?” her voice shook as she asked those words and she could feel a headache growing at the back of her head making her feel light-headed and the urge to throw up hit her hard.
She had to shakily walk to the wall beside his office door to rest her weight there because she wasn’t sure if her legs will be able to hold her up anymore.
Dimitri saw the state she was in and took a step in her direction but a hand held him back so he looked at Daniella standing by his side to her hand that held his arm then to her face before shrugging her hold off him and walking to Audriana.
“Love-”
“Don’t come near me” she held her hand out to stop him from coming any closer to her then managed to steady her fast-beating heart and stood up straight while she ignored the headache at the back of her head and had to take in air through her mouth to suppress the urge to throw up.
“Why?”
“Noth-”
“Miguel, it will be best if she knew about us and…” Daniella said coming towards them and placing her hand on his shoulder then looked at Audriana for some seconds before completing her sentence “Our daughter too”
Just like she was splashed with iced water, she felt chills run through her entire body at the new revelation and could see how Dimitri stiffened when she mentioned ‘our daughter’ and how he looked at Daniella with different emotions playing on his face.
Some she could recognize as anger, irritation but the sadness overtook the other emotions playing on his face.
He looked really sad when she said it and saw a very pained look on his face when he closed his eyes.
They had a daughter and she is just knowing now? When did all these happen and why didn’t he bother telling her about it? About his daughter and his relationship with Daniella?
“Why didn’t you tell me any of this?” her voice shook as she asked him but he couldn’t say anything and just opened his eyes with his gaze fixed on her.
“I guess there are a lot of things you both need to talk about, well… I will leave you to that, see you later Miguel” Daniella picked up her bag and walked in the direction of the door and went past Audriana but didn’t forget to flash her a menacing smirk.
She was this close to grabbing her by the hair and pushing her to the floor so that she gives her what she deserves but she thought better than that and fixed her gaze on Dimitri who looked like he was lost of words.
