When she came out of the bedroom her nostrils couldn’t help but scent the aroma that filled the entire living room and a smile immediately made its way to her lips.
He was right… this was going to be one of the best dishes she has ever tasted.
She knows not to judge a book by its cover or the scent of food by its delicious aroma but with how filled the room was, it was evident she will love the food and probably his cooking.
Making her way to the kitchen, the aroma became more filling and stronger and her eyes were greeted with his back to her as his hands worked on something.
She closed her eyes to take in more of the scent before opening them and walking towards him and standing right behind him.
“I have a feeling that I would love this dish,” she said and he side-glanced at her before going back to what he was doing.
“You are going to enjoy it, Love, wait till you have a taste of it” he assured her and turned with two plates in his hold as he wriggled his brows and walked outside the kitchen to place them on the table.
She followed behind him and saw the plates that contained a medium portion of nice yellow-colored rice with two chickens on each plate and a half-cut lemon beside the rice.
“It looks nice”
“I know, sit while I go get some spoons and drinks for us” he helped her sit by drawing the chair and pushing it back when she was seated.
She admired the rice for a while then closed her eyes to inhale the aroma again and grinned then opened her eyes.
When she did, he was already back with two wine glasses and spoons in one hand and his other hand held the wine bottle.
He was smiling down at her before putting the wine and glasses on the table then the spoons on each plate and sitting in front of her.
“I was trying to get the aroma to settle in before tasting it,” she said and he nod his head then proceed to open the wine glass and poured inside the two cups.
When he put the wine bottle down, they both placed their hands on the table and looked at each other with small smiles playing on their lips.
She was feeling so shy with just keeping eye contact with this man but she didn’t want to break the eye contact because the way they were looking at each other, it was like their eyes made a bet on who would lose by breaking the eye contact and she had no intention on losing.
They kept staring for some minutes before they both burst out laughing. He bowed his head as he laughed and she buried her face in her palms while she laughed.
“Why are you laughing?” he managed to ask in between.
“I don’t know, why are you laughing?” she asked back as she cleaned the corner of her eyes from the tears that came while she was laughing.
He stopped and shrugged.
“I don’t know too” he replied and they calmed down then looked at each other again but this time the look was different.
They could feel the little joy that danced in their heart as they looked into each other eyes and by the way, they took in deep breaths and let it out at the same time, they knew it was mutual and their smiles turned to full grins.
“You…” he began and chuckled then bit his bottom lips and shook his head before taking his spoon and looking at her.
“Your skin is glowing” he took her hand in his and kissed her knuckles.
She couldn’t contain the warmness on her cheeks and the obvious blush that spread across her cheeks but just nod her head and looked down at the food.
“I know I am good-looking, you don’t need to say it though” he comments and put her hand on the table.
“And there he goes” she muttered and looked up at him.
“We should dig in before it gets so cold, but first” he took her two hands in his and began caressing them while they looked into each other eyes.
“Let us pray,” he told her and she nods then they both closed their eyes and he led the prayer.
After a minute of thanks and blessing the food, they started eating but he waited for her to take a bite so he could gauge her facial expression as she tastes it.
She took the first bite and nod her head as she chewed food, letting her taste bud, get used to the delicious sensation the food brought to her before swallowing.
“It is still warm and you did a great job I must say,” she said after drinking wine and placing the cup on the table.
“Thank you he said and began eating.
They talked about a lot of things as they ate and he would compliment her in between which always leaves her with warmness around her cheeks and neck with a deep blush on her cheeks.
After almost an hour of eating and talking, they brought their plates to the kitchen and washed the dishes before leaving to relax in the bedroom.
“Maybe you would make me some food later?” he said as he played with her fingers while she lay her head on her chest.
He heard her sigh and knew why. He still feels ashamed of himself for making such harsh comments to her and causing that event to fall upon her. She wouldn’t have had to face that if he had just stopped deceiving himself and letting himself feel for someone without him thinking it isn’t for him.
He was happy that she did so but he also let his jealousy get the better of him and when he saw her come in, he remembered the text from Earl and just had to push her away and make her feel bad for wanting things to work between them.
“Love… I am so sorry about that day” he said to her and she let out a sigh again.
She wasn’t angry at him anymore but didn’t know if he would want her cooking for him. She knew what he did and said to her was annoying and hurtful but even when she was still captured, she wasn’t keeping any grudge at him but just angry that he made her sad, she couldn’t defend herself from that man.
“You don’t need to keep apologizing Miguel, it’s fine and as I said before and will keep saying…” she raised her head to look at him.
“I am not mad at you anymore or did I keep any grudge against you or will ever even though you are annoying,” she said and he couldn’t resist rolling his eyes.
“Hehe, ‘The Dimitri eye-roll’ always rolling his eyes whenever he gets the chance to” she lay her head back on his chest when she said so and he chuckled.
“Good thing you came up with a brand… should that be an eyelash brand or eye contact brand?” he asked and she laughed then thought about it for a while.
“Hmm… that might be a good idea though” she tapped her chin.
“Yeah, ‘The Dimitri’s eye-roll lash’ sounds great, eh?”
“Yeah, we should work on it,” she told him and he agreed.
They stayed quiet for some minutes and just enjoyed the solace of the room.
“Thank you for the food, Mr. Lorenzo”
“You are very welcome Mrs. Lorenzo”
