I shook as he lifted my dress and examined my breasts.
He muttered, “You’re gorgeous.”
I didn’t expect tephan Buther to be so lusty. His hands and kisses roamed my body, leaving hickeys.
Then he bit my neck.
After a long period of pleading for mercy, he stopped enjoying torturing me.
I’ll send a nurse to help you with Dason.
“Do you know who poisoned you?”
Stephan Buther asked about recent events.
I hadn’t informed Stephan Buther about my animosity against Maria, but I decided it was time.
Maria has attempted to murder me several times, but I have no proof.
Stephan Buther comforted me.
I’ll assist you figure this out.
Honey, thanks.
I thanked him with a kiss.
Daina’s POV:
Despite promising Stephan Buther I wouldn’t take Dason to the hospital, I was frightened.
I want to see Dason when the doctor tells me he’s awake.
I’d seem ungrateful otherwise. So I told Stephan Buther.
Stephan Buther’s face grew chilly after I finished speaking, but he accepted.
He left me no room to decline.
I said “okay.”
Stephan Buther hugged me.
Stephan Buther entered Dason’s ward before us. I closed the door behind him.
Dason was surprised by Stephan Buther.
He wanted to sit up after Stephan Buther’s visit, but he was too weak.
I helped Dason stand up.
Stephan Buther told Dason not to salute him while unwell.
Dason looked at me confused before going to Buther.
“What are you doing, Mr. Buther?”
My friendship with Stephan Buther was private, so I made up an explanation.
Stephan Buther glared at me when I looked at him.
Dason questioned Stephan Buther and myself.
Since no person spoke, the mood became uncomfortable.
“Stephan Buther, please take a seat.”
Stephan Buther sat by the window and motioned for me to join him. I shook my head, turned around, and picked up an apple.
“Can I peel your apple?”
Dason winked.
Stephan Buther rushed up, grabbed the fruit knife, and said, “Let me peel it.”
I watched Stephan Buther peel my apple in a stupor.
His sloppy actions suggested he’d never peeled an apple before.
He had a serious, concentrated look, as if holding something priceless.
It was beautiful.
“Dason, want water?”
Not knowing what to do, I poured Dason some water.
Stephan Buther dropped the apple he wasn’t done peeling and grabbed an empty glass.
“Stephen Buther…”
Dason tried to rise up, looking scared.
He was already standing before I noticed what he was doing.
His limbs were weak from not recovering and laying in bed for days.
He almost fell as he stood up.
Before I could aid him, he collapsed with a boom, and the fruits on the bedside table overturned.
“Dason!”
Stephan Buther prevented me from helping him up.
I didn’t understand Stephan Buther was trying to keep me away from Dason until now.
Stephan Buther was going too far by stopping me while Dason was in anguish on the floor.
“Must you?”
I irritably shook Stephan Buther’s hand and helped Dason into the bed. He flashed me an odd look, but I ignored his gaze.
“How are you? Uneasy? ”
He replied.
OK.
Dason waved at Stephan Buther, who was glaring at us.
Dason’s POV
Daina visited Dason again.
I was happy to see her, but I didn’t know why she came with Prince Stephan Buther.
When the prince arrived, I was pleased yet uncomfortable.
He prevented me from saluting him.
Daina claimed they’d run into each other downstairs, but I didn’t believe her, particularly after witnessing Stephan Buther do all Daina promised for me.
He didn’t want her to help me.
When I recalled what Stephan Buther said at the masquerade, I understood they were closer than I believed.
Daina made me uneasy.
I want to be with Daina despite Moon Goddess’s wishes.
My hopes were fading, however.
I didn’t dare let the prince take care of me, particularly after discovering it was for Daina, so I sprang from the bed to stop him.
But I forgot my physical state and fell down.
“Must you?”Daina asked Buther fiercely.
Daina’s boldness in talking to the prince showed how close they were.
As Daina pulled me up, I believed I had no chance against her.
Daina already had a better boyfriend than me.
Buther wasn’t happy.
He left and slammed the door.
Her body was there, but her heart had departed.
Now that we’re alone, I want to validate my hypothesis about their connection.
“Daina, Stephan Buther appears weird. Are you two together?”I spoke casually.
Only I understood how cruel it was to say this.
I watched Daina’s face change then normalize.
“You’re thinking too much. We’re just friends. It’s only that he appreciates me,” she said, waving her hand.
I grimaced.
Daina and Stephan Buther were not simply friends, but I didn’t know why she disguised it.
Anyone can see it.
Buther’s perspective:
I wanted to leave the hospital after storming out of the ward, but I turned around in the parAlpha lot. I couldn’t leave Daina and Dason alone.
As I approached the ward, I heard Daina say Dason, “We’re just friends.”
I froze, retracted my hand, and left.
Daina irritated me. Were we simply friends? Ouch! Friends kissed, dated, and made love? Why would I care about her after storming out of the ward if we were just friends? Daina ignoring me for another man was unfathomable.
She didn’t come out when I reached the parAlpha lot.
I would have left if I didn’t fear she couldn’t go back on her own.
“Stephan Buther, be reasonable. You informed Daina your relationship couldn’t be made public. What could she say?”I imagined Cara complaining.
“I know. Don’t remind me,”I grumbled.
Cara responded, “You’re too possessive.”
“Cara…,” I stumbled.
Arguing with my own wolf was pointless. Daina was my primary focus. I couldn’t allow my partner sleep with another guy.
Dason’s thoughts were obvious.
He liked my mate.
I slightly opened the door but didn’t enter.
“Let’s go,” I told Daina.
Then she told Dason, “I’m going. Take care of yourself. I’ll see you another day.”
Dason nodded and watched Daina go. When he accidentally caught my gaze, he bowed.
Daina and I walked out the door.
I walked to the parAlpha lot holding her hand.
I opened the passenger door when I discovered my automobile.
