Chapter 23

Book:My Love For You Published:2024-5-1

Ethan’s POV
It has been a week since Emily has told me that she will marry me. I feel like I have been floating on the clouds. From today our marriage rituals will start.
After some time we will have our Haldi function (Turmeric day) and at night we will have Mehandi function (Mehandi is the use of paste from the henna plant to make designs on the skin).
“Are you done?” Liam asked me as he entered the room.
“Wow, you look handsome in that color.” Liam teased me.
“Yeah, whatever.” I replied, rolling my eyes at him.
When do I not look handsome?
I’m wearing a yellow kurta (Indian traditional dress for men), with plain white pants. It’s my haldi function so my bride and I will wear a dress of yellow color. Same goes for the Mehandi function. We will wear a dress of green color.
“Let’s go, Dulhe Raja (Groom).” Liam said with a grin.
This bastard only knows how to tease me.
We walked out of the guest room together. Yes, I’m living in a guest room, so that Emily can use our room during this time without any problem so I moved out of our room.
We came down stairs and my eyes were glued to the closed door of our room.
Well, I can’t wait to see my beautiful bride. When will she come out of the room?
“Come and sit here so I can apply haldi on you.” Liam told me.
“When will she come down?” I asked him while sitting down.
“When she is ready, then she will come downstairs herself.” Liam said.
Maid bought the turmeric paste in a bowl and Liam took it from her. He took a handful of turmeric paste and was about to apply it on my face but he stopped in the midair.
I raised my eyes and saw him staring beside me near the stairs with his mouth wide open.
What’s wrong with him? Idiot, why is he behaving like this?
I too wanted to see, what made him stop in the midair?
I turned my head around to see and Wow just wow.
My world was standing behind me looking breathtaking as always.
I have seen a lot of beautiful girls in my life but no one literally no one can match her beauty.
She is dead drop gorgeous. She wore a bright yellow lehenga, with yellow flower ornaments. Her hair was tightly bun with white roses on it. She had a light make up on her face. It looked natural.
She was playing with her beautiful fingers while her head was hanging low.
“Wow.” I heard Liam’s voice. I turned around and glared at him but he didn’t see me glaring at him as his eyes were on my beautiful bride.
I simply wanted to do what other men would have done if someone stared at their women. But as he is my friend and I know he isn’t staring at her with bad eyes so as a good friend I didn’t go too far and made him understand politely that she is mine to stare and mine to compliment.
I slowly raised my hand and hit him hard with my knuckles.
“Ouch.” He exclaimed while rubbing his head with his hand.
He then moved his eyes from her to me then I glared at him telling ‘how dare you stare at her?’ with my eyes.
“Sorry.” He said in a low voice so that I could only hear him.
“Please come and have a seat, Miss Emily.” Liam said while grinning at me. Stupid.
Emily came and sat down beside me. Liam applied the turmeric paste on my face, my hand and on my legs. After sometime Liam wiped out some of the turmeric paste from my face and mixed it in the bowl of the turmeric paste.
It’s a ritual in us that the bride can only apply the turmeric paste which has been previously applied on the groom’s body.
Liam turned to Emily and applied the paste on her face, her hands and on her legs. After applying the paste on both of us he turned to us and smiled.
“I hope you both live happily together and forever.” Liam said with a sweet smile on his face.
After we finished with the haldi functions we went to our respective rooms to take shower and get ready for the Mehandi function.
The sun had set down and I was standing in front of the mirror while seeing my handsome face.
‘Tomorrow is the big day of my life. After a few hours we will be husband and wife. I can’t wait to make you mine Emily.’ My thoughts were only wondering about tomorrow and about our future, together.
Liam entered my room and told me to go downstairs as Mehandi functions were about to start.
“I hope we won’t have any problems tomorrow. I don’t want anyone to disturb my wedding with Emily. Is that clear Liam?” I told him and he nodded his head.
I got to know how Abhay and Alex took the news of Emily’s death. I don’t have any problem with Alex as I know he won’t create any fuss because he wants his sister to be happy and I know only I can give her happiness. The main problem is that Abhay. I wish I could beat him to his death but I need to control myself. Anyway it’s not that I will leave them for what they did to my Emily.
“Let’s go” he said again.
“Ok.” I replied.
We went downstairs and I saw my bride in a dark green lehenga. She was sitting and in front of her, there were two girls applying mehndi (Henna) on both of her hands.
She applied a lot of mehndi on her hands and legs. Mehndi artists even wrote my name on her hand.
The function came to an end and we all went back to our room.
Waiting for tomorrow morning’s sunrise so we can start our new journey together.
