Arabella’s point of view.
This is an evidence, I must take it to Wymond right away, but then my eyes caught the words on the note and I had a quick rethink.
*Come to our old place, it’s about the missing pups -Drake!*
Is this a trick? Or is he actually telling the truth? Should I tell Wymond about this? Or maybe I should just keep it to myself?
I quickly squeezed the note and shoved it in my back pocket when I heard the door push open, I raised my head and saw it’s Renee.
“Hi, Renee” I greeted her quickly.
She gave me a strange look.
“Are you ok?” she asked.
“Yeah” I answered.
She stared at me for a moment, but didn’t ask any further questions.
“So… your coronation is around the corner and I have decided to stay until your coronation is done” she said.
“Wow, that’s great”
“Yeah, I just wanna let you know that we should start preparations soon, because we have very little time left”
“Little time left? Isn’t it holding next full moon?” I asked.
She chuckled lightly at my question.
“Next full moon is just two weeks and some days away, honey” she pulled my nose softly.
“Oh, it’s so near”
“Yes, it’s so near” she mocked me or rather, my ignorance. “Anyways, we have a lot to do tomorrow, come to the ballroom after school and get your measurements” she said and giggled.
Why’s she giggling as if she’s the one getting coronated?.
“Ok”
“Alright, I should head back to my room, I have some phone calls to make” then she dashed out of the room.
I sighed softly, I’m not feeling this coronation at all, I’m having a feeling that my coronation isn’t gonna be so successful -bah, I shouldn’t be thinking that way.
A cold bath is what I need right now, to get rid of all these negative thoughts in me.

FEW MINUTES LATER
My steps faltered as I stepped out of the bathroom in my pink nightie, my eyes closed voluntarily as my nose was engulfed in a very sweet aroma and I couldn’t help but take a deep breath.
My stomach started growling louder at the aroma, urging me to take hasty steps towards the sitting area in the room -my eyes snapped open and I dashed towards that direction.
“It’s obvious I did the right thing” Wymond said when he saw me.
I gave him a thumbs up and slumped on a sofa, I hurriedly reached for a fork, stabbed a big steak and shoved it in my mouth.
“Ooh, this is heaven!” I moaned loudly.
Wymond laughed at my manner.
“Slow down or you’ll choke yourself” he told me.
I simply nodded and gestured at him to start eating too, or I might finish everything before he’d even think of starting.
“You made this?” I asked.
“Yeah, I figured you’d be hungry because you barely touched your breakfast” he answered.
I nodded again, my mouth is stuck and I can’t speak.
The rest of our meal was in silence.
★★★
My mouth opened slightly and I burped quietly, I pushed mine and Wymond’s empty plate aside, then leaned back on my chair as I rubbed my stomach.
Wymond had only a few bites since I ate everything on the table, he was just staring at me while I devour everything.
“I’m so overfed!” I shouted and burped again, then laughed shortly.
“Hm” Wymond hummed. “I didn’t know I’d end up with a foodie” he sighed. “Irony of life” he said.
I hit his shoulder as hard as I could but he didn’t even wince or groan.
“Don’t mock me” I growled at him.
He raised his hands in surrender, but laughed at my expression.
“Right, baby”
“Hm?”
“I heard seven pups went missing at evergreen last night?” he said, more like asked though.
“Yeah”
Now that he’s mentioned it, my mood changed drastically as everything that happened came flooding my mind once again.
“Alpha Jarek had warriors searching all night but they still haven’t found them, right…”
I trailed off and lifted myself off the sofa then slightly lean towards him.
“Have you heard of any creature that looks like a giant bat, with big, long nose but only one nostril, pink eyes, six legs and blade like arms with no fingers or claws?” I asked him.
His eyebrows knitted together at my description, his body posture looked as though he’s just hearing about it for the first time, but his eyes betrayed him -his pupils narrowed and his eyeballs moved around frantically.
He must have heard about them before or maybe even seen them, he definitely knows what they are.
“Were you attacked by that creature?” he asked after a moment of silence.
“No, but my pack members were, Alpha Jarek already sent a letter to the Alpha King about it and I’m sure the Alpha King will soon reach out to you”
“Hm” he hummed calmly.
Hm? Why is he being so calm? Or is this just a facade not to make me worry?
“I’ll investigate about it” he said.
I wanted to argue, but then I remembered Renee’s advise *There are times you shouldn’t argue with him, just listen and do what he tells you*
I sighed and nodded.
“Ok”
But my mind wasn’t at rest, I kept thinking back to everything that’s been happening recently, from Black-Knight attack on our pack, to the prison breakout, then the pups missing in our pack and those strange looking creatures -why do I feel like they’re all related somehow.
Then a name flashed across my mind -Oak!
I gasped loudly.
“What?” Wymond asked me.
“Oak” I answered.
“Oak?”
“Yeah, he must be the mastermind behind everything” I said.
His eyes widened as I said those words, although he tried to hide it.
“We can put an end to all these if we can arrest him”
He cleared his throat and started packing up the plates.
“Let’s not talk about this anymore”
“Let’s not talk about it?”
“Go to bed early, I don’t think I’ll be back to tell you goodnight tonight” he said ignoring my question.
We’ve known who’s behind everything, why won’t he let us discuss about it? Or is he….
“Are you scared of Oak?” I voiced out my question.
He paused and closed his eyes for a few moments, took a few deep breaths before answering my question.
“No” he answered.
“Then why can’t you fight him? Why do you always let him feel as if he’s more powerful? Why do you make him feel so superior over you?” I asked.
He stopped packing up the plates and faced me.
“Baby, you can’t fight what you can’t see” he said.
“What do you mean?” I asked, sounding so confused.
“Oak has been in hiding ever since he’s cursed me, he’s hiding under a very powerful invisibility spell and trust me, I have tried every method but still can’t undo the spell” he sighed and leaned back on the sofa. “How can I fight him when I can’t even see him?”
Is Oak really that powerful? Or maybe he’s under disguise and Wymond couldn’t recognize him.
He chuckled loudly and I knew he’s read my thoughts.
“Oak doesn’t do disguise, he hates disguising so much for some strange reasons” he said.
“Then maybe he’s being coming physically but you just failed to recognize you”
Not as if I’m trying to sow discord between Wymond and Edward, but what if Oak is actually Edward who’s been by Wymond’s side for years?
Wait… why am I suspecting Edward?
Well, you can’t find who stole your chicken when the real thief is helping search for a fake thief.
He scoffed.
“That’s not possible, Edward was birthed thirty-four years ago and besides, I know Oak’s physical appearance”
Oh, so I was wrong for suspecting Edward… sorry buddy.
“Then what about that masked man that visited Black-Knight Alpha, do you know his physical appearance? What if Oak is the one hiding behind the mask?”
He snapped his head towards me and stared blankly at me.
“I think you should find ways to arrest that masked man, he knows something about Oak.. that is, if he’s not Oak himself”
I reached for his hand and gave him a reassuring squeeze.
“It’s high time you faced Oak and show him that you’re the King” I told him.
He withdrew his hand from mine and facepalm himself, then throw his head back.
“I’ll handle everything, just stay out of it and stay safe for me” he said.
“Why should I stay out of it?” I asked but didn’t wait for him to reply. “I’m already involved because Oak already knows I’m your mate” I said.
“He already know you’re my mate, that’s why you should stay out of it or he’s gonna use you against me” he paused. “You’ve being of great help so far, so leave the rest for me, I know what to do”
He got up and head out, leaving the plates behind.
He said he knows what to do, does he really look like someone who knows what to do?
It’s a good thing I didn’t tell him that note then, I should deal with it myself or those missing pups will die before he takes any action.
