Scott’s POV
Who was that girl and why did I feel so horrible when I pushed her? After all I just retaliated to her locking me in that room but where on Earth I’m I and how I’m I going to get out of this place so I can go in search of my mother?
I wonder how she must be doing at the hospital…should I chase after the girl so she would tell me where this place is and why I am here.
“Uhrm…excuse me” I knocked gently on the door and for some reason I felt like I had done this before and not just once but many times.
“Can you please…” I was trying to find the right words to use.
“GET OUT!!” She yelled at me and I shivered a bit. Her voice was quite thunderous and that too for a girl of her age.
The next school day
“Mia!” Lakshmi exclaimed as she caught Mia just in time before she could fall.
“Woah… are you okay?? Didn’t seem like you were watching where you were headed?” Lakshmi was very concerned because it was unlike Mia to be absent minded.
“I am okay” Mia entwined her fingers as she looked away from Lakshmi. She seemed to have been interested in the sight of a trash can.
“Why weren’t you in school?” Mia asked her friend, looking away from the trash can and focusing her gaze on her locker.
“How is your brother?” Mia stood in front of Lakshmi this time making it difficult for Lakshmi to see past her.
“He’s okay…but… there is good news and then there is bad news” Lakshmi dragged her statement much more than what was needed.
Mia didn’t even say anything to her as she just kept on blinking her eyes multiple times.
“Aren’t you going to ask me what the good and the bad news are?” Lakshmi arched her eyebrows.
“No,” Mia shrugged.
“Why?” Lakshmi was quite confused as they both walked towards Mia’s locker.
“Because I know you are going to tell me” Mia brought out a book from her school bag and gently placed it in the locker.
” The good news is my brother is alife and the bad news is…well…my brother can’t remember anything… well he remembers some things like his name and the memories before he actually met my dad but he doesn’t remember anything after that.
He doesn’t remember Alyssa or you or even me…he doesn’t even remember my parents” Lakshmi threw her hands in the air.
“That’s not good,” Mia said in a low tone as she continued organizing her locker.
“Is that all you are going to say Mia?” Really?!” Lakshmi’s eyes were wide open as if they were going to pop off.
“Yes…we have class now…we have to go” Mia reminded her friend who got a little upset about how Mia reacted to the whole thing.
At Alyssa’s house after school
Alyssa’s POV
“So you are no longer mad at me?” I asked my mum as I stood far away from her. I didn’t want to take any more beatings.
“Yes that boy Scott was useless anyways. We have more pressing issues at hand now” my mum dipped her hand in her little brown sack bag and brought out something which wasn’t too visible to me.
“And what exactly is that?” I asked her and went closer to her. I needed to see what she was holding.
“This…You have to use this and you know what mission is at hand right?” My mum spoke softly with a smirk on her face. I can’t believe it, I never imagined that she would give my necklace back to me.
“I thought you had taken it away from me forever. ” I took the necklace from her as I kissed it and hugged it as much as I could.
“I never intended to do such a thing. Like I told you earlier I needed to sort some things out but you just wouldn’t be patient…. now that I got everything sorted out I would need you to go and destroy that girl” my mum instructed me and I could sense the anger and hate in her voice.
I have always been my mum’s poppet and I always did as she told me without asking her any question but this time I just couldn’t hold back.
I wanted to know the reason behind her anger and hatred for Mia.
Apart from the fact that my mum had made her my sworn enemy, the reason is still unknown to me.
I really see Mia as a sweet innocent girl who just wants to live her life.
“Mum, why so much hatred for Mia? What has she done to deserve all these attacks here and there?
Initially I thought you were after her because you wanted the necklace and hence more power but it seems it is far beyond that” I spoke calmly trying my best not to infuriate my mom.
“Are you questioning my actions? Are you really trying to go against me?” My mum was angered.
“No mum, I didn’t mean that… I just want to know why you bear so much grudge against her.. tell me mum” I kept on pestering my mum.
“Well if you must know then I will tell you. Mia hasn’t done anything wrong to me. It is her parents who are at fault…her father precisely” my mum sat down on a chair beside her.
“What has her father done to you that warranted such a punishment and why don’t you just get revenge on her father. Why Mia?” I let my curiosity speak for me.
“Her father has done alot to me and trust me my darling daughter. I have tried to get my revenge on him but he just keep pestering me.
My revenge can never be complete until his daughter is dead…until I am sure that his lineage comes to an end.
Only then will I agree that my revenge has come to an end” my mum clenched her fist and grinded her teeth.
“Hmmn…I hope this won’t end up being an unending battle between you and Mia’s Father” I sighed.
“You don’t have to worry about my child.
The battle will end and I will surely be the one to end it and have my last laugh” my mum chuckled in a manner that scared me alot.
