Lakshmi’s POV
“You are m*d Scott! You are very m*d!” I gave him a slap across the face but the slap wasn’t too hard, it was just enough to make him release his grip on me and I got up from the bed.
“Ouch!” He exclaimed in pain.
“Do you even know what you’re saying?” I was so angered that I couldn’t bring my voice down.
He immediately stood up as well and covered my mouth. I bit his hand and he removed his hand from my mouth, waving them in the air and trying to shake the pain off.
“Wow sis! You are a fighter” Scott looked surprised.
“Next time I will break your bones” I threatened him but he just scoffed.
“Why are you so jealous?” Scott was trying to play with me.
“JEALOUS? Realty Scott? You think I am jealous? You bring a mannerless girl into the house without telling me and I am not sure mom and dad know about this. I cannot wait to tell them” I brought out my phone threatening to dial my father’s line but he stopped me by forcefully taking it from me.
“Sis, please don’t get me into trouble. You are my sister and you want to tell me. That ain’t fair” Scott was looking so pitiable with his cute face but I chose to ignore him.
” I will also tell them this sharde that happened here between both of us” I raised an eyebrow.
“No! Are you tryna get me k*lled or something? I was just checking if you were jealous, that’s all. Please don’t tell on me” Scott panicked.
“Please Lil sis. The most beautiful sis in the world, please don’t get me k*ll*d by our own parents” Scot was talking so sweetly to me and I really don’t know how that always managed to work for him anytime he wanted to get something from me.
“I hope she isn’t the one you plan on marrying because I do not like her one bit. I might just drag her by her hair and kick her out if that happens” I looked at him.
“Hell no! I don’t like her either” Scott said as he threw himself on the bed.
“So why on Earth is she here?” I asked with my eyes wide open.
“For my pleasure I guess” he shrugged.
I placed my hands on my waist and shook my head.
“Drop my phone and get outta my room!!” I ordered him.
“I can’t lil sis because you will tell on me” Scott refused.
“Nope, I won’t. No get the h*ll out” I pointed towards the door. He was about to argue but then I threw my perfume container at him and he ran out of the room. Boys!!.. I yelled.
At Mia’s school
Lakshmi was absent the next day of school so it was just Mia and her annoying nemesis Alyssa who clearly wasn’t in the mood to ruin Mia’s day, Well at least she had composed herself throughout the day.
Mia was searching for a book in her locker when she heard a dark guy having a discussion with his friend. Although the boy tried to whisper, he was awful at it.
“I really can’t believe that you would like such a girl. I mean there are so many decent girls in this school, why Mia?” His white friend, who was the closest to him seemed to be scolding him
“And what is so wrong with her? She is a very decent girl and beside that she is smart”Jones protested as he would occasionally steal glances at Mia.
“Everything is wrong with her” Nathan, his friend, was strongly against his choice of a girl.
“Like?” Jones raised his eyebrow as he leaned on his locker which wasn’t far from where Mia was standing.
“Like the fact that she has a disability,” Nathan pointed out.
Mia looked down as she felt some kind of pain in her chest, she couldn’t explain what it was but it hurt not for long though.
“She seems fine to me. What disability does she have?” Jones was shocked to hear that Mia was disabled in any way as she looked perfectly healthy.
“She has autism,” Nathan whispered.
At that point, Mia couldn’t tell if the boys were loud or she just had good hearing because two girls stood in between her and the boys and they didn’t seem to hear what the boys were sayings as they were closer to them or maybe they heard and they just chose to ignore or maybe the topic just didn’t interest them.
Jones only let out a gentle laugh before he replied to his best friend.
“I don’t see that as a disability at all, she is just different and there is really nothing wrong with being different.
It just makes you stand out from the crowd” Jones tried to explain to his friend who had single handedly taken up the task of preventing his best friend from liking Mia.
“I really don’t share the same thoughts with you… but you know that she is rumored to be a thief and I don’t like my friend associating with a thief like her ” Nathan kept on insisting.
“I don’t believe that nonsense. Mia can barely have a conversation with someone who isn’t Lakshmi and you are busy telling me that he is bold enough to steal. Common, that just b*llsh*t if you ask me”.
“You trust this girl a lot and you don’t even know her?” Nathan was quite surprised at the way his friend defended her.
“I know her to some extent and from the little I know I can confidently tell you she is not a thief. She has never been one and can never be one” Jones was still very bold in his words.
“Then why hasn’t she said anything about it? Why has she chosen to remain silent when she claims to be innocent” Nathan was also trying to prove his point.
“Firstly she hasn’t claimed anything and secondly you should know how autistic people behave by now. She doesn’t talk much and that might be the major reason I like her.
Wait here, I would like to go talk to her, wish me good luck” Jones tossed the books in his hand to Nathan and rubbed his palm before he wiped his face with it.
