Luca’s pov
The first thing I wanted to do as soon as our car pulled up in the location Ryan’s own partner had given us, and I had seen Ryan holding Sofia who was on the ground, immense anger had engulfed me that I wanted to do nothing but to step out and put a bullet into the bastard, but James reminded me about not ducking anything up, which was enough to get me into thinking rationally once again.
One tiny move and we’d have driven right into the trap which the bastard had set for us, all thanks to Angelo.
I had wanted to leave Angelo out of this because I know Sofia wouldn’t ever want to burden him with something like this, even though I was sure he’d have definitely gotten wind of her disappearance.
Angelo had been the one to come to me, informing that he wanted to help me find his sister. There hasn’t been any room for me to reject his offer, not that I’d have even dreamt of doing that because I had needed all the assistance I could get. Letting Angelo into the team helped us out immensely, because firstly, I had no idea the kid had as must connection as I did. He apparently has a lot of favors in the hands of so many people which he was yet to cash in, all of what he cashed in, in order to find his sister. Those favors helped us immensely and gave us all the intels we needed to bust into Ryan’s clan.
It was an excuse of a mafia gang. There were about ten in total, along with an hacker. After killing five of the group, the remaining realized I was being serious about killing them all if they don’t tell me where exactly Ryan was. At that point, James had returned with an intel that Ryan had Sofia in a house. The remaining five then revealed that a trap was set in the house, which was why news got leaked in that moment that Ryan had Sofia in there, so we’d all blindly run over there, straight into the trap.
I let out a scoff. “Let say I had a little help from your own team.” I motioned to one of the guards and at once, they maneuvered the last dude in the car out and forced him to his knees in front of me. He had his hands tied and his eyes burned with anger.
Ryan’s eyes widened as he took in the new appearance.
“Alejandro…” Ryan called out, gaze flickering between the man and my face.
“You bastard, what did you do to the rest of my team?!” He roared and for a moment, I worried that he was gonna pull the trigger by mistake. My gaze settled on Sofia’s face, but only for a few seconds, because I couldn’t afford to get sidetracked.
“I took care of them.” I responded flatly. “All that’s left is this one, your partner.”
Ryan’s mouth opened but nothing came out. As I stared at him being clearly conflicted, I silently wondered why I never figured him out before it got to this point.
“You fool! I told you to let go of this plan for a long while. You were supposed to take out your brother and resume your rightful position in the team, that’s all! Now look at all what you’ve caused!” His partner, Alejandro roared out in clear anger. Ryan flinched before scowling.
“Don’t call that bastard my brother!” He growled.
“But he is! You were supposed to end his life like we agreed. If you had done, none of this would have happened!”
As they spoke, I felt taken aback in confusion.
Who the hell were they referring to as ‘brother’?
“Luca isn’t my fucking brother, you asshole!”
“You’re the asshole here, selfish fucking bastard!” Alejandro shot back. At this point, Ryan was fuming in anger.
“Whoa whoa whoa… slow down there.” James murmured as he tapped his gun against Alejandro’s head in warning. “What the hell are you talking about?”
“Just about Ryan being Luca’s brother.” Alejandro spat out and I felt extremely confused once again. My eyes met Ryan’s for a moment and when he glanced away, and I glanced at James who was as shocked as myself.
“They’re brothers?” James prompted. Alejandro looked uncomfortable. “Uh, yeah? Didn’t you know?”
James glanced at me once again and I let out a sigh before moving forward and digging my grip in Alejandro’s hair to tug his hair sharply.
“No one knew about that, so you had better give me a clear explanation of that to avoid dying right now.” I warned and I noticed a trace of fear swimming in his eyes before I pulled away.
“Well, uh, Your father had a fling with Ryan’s mother. He ordered her killed when she ended up pregnant but she managed to escape. Ryan vowed to get revenge on his father but since he’s no more, you’re the one who’s supposed to suffer for it… and I guess that’s it?”
As that explanation sank into my head, I almost scoffed because someone, I expected more than that.
“That’s it?” I asked and Ryan scoffed.
I knew that was something my father could do. He was a disgusting asshole like that, but that doesn’t mean I have to suffer for his mistake. Somehow, it’s like everyone shared a brain cell once it comes to getting their different revenge. They’re supposed to let a revenge go once the culprit is dead, but somehow, they’d deem it okay to make the sun suffer from the mistake of his father. That had been the reason why I never wanted to make any more connections here in the mafia, aside from the ones I already have.
“That sounds like a pussy move, are you sure you’re a Ricci?” I asked Ryan who leveled me with a glare. “Don’t call me that.”
“Oh, yeah? What are you gonna do about that, brother?” I goaded, watching as he bristled even more, hand shaking around his gun for a moment, and once again, I hoped he wouldn’t pull the trigger by mistake.
“Let the girl go, dude. We can start all over again. Let her go and we’d be able to go our own way.” Alejandro suggested to a boiling Ryan.
Alejandro was still speaking when Ryan moved the gun from Sofia to Alejandro.
“I’m sorry, man.” He murmured right before he pulled the trigger, straight into Alejandro’s chest.
Alejandro fell on his face in the next moment, bleeding into the ground.
