Sofia’s pov
Ryan drove at an extremely high speed, like he had more than one life. The car almost got involved in more than one accident from how fast the car was racing. Throughout the ride, Ryan never ceased snickering about how he was finally getting revenge on Luca and is finally gonna be ending him tonight. As he kept guffawing, my stomach got in tighter knots and I could barely stop myself from crying at the thought of Luca dying tonight all because he wanted to rescue me.
“Why the fuck are you crying?” He demanded after catching a glance of my face in the rearview mirror. “Isn’t it your dream for us to live happily ever after with Luca completely out of the picture?!”
I shook my head, pain radiating into my insides from that little moment. “I don’t, I just wanna be with Luca, that’s all I want.”
That was clearly a wrong answer seeing as he almost drove into the mouth of a large trailer in the next moment. His hands shook around the steering wheel, and it was obvious that he was blazing with anger. He remained silent after that and continued to drive, and I know the reason I wasn’t being punished right now is because he’s heading to somewhere important really fast.
About five minutes later, I noticed that we were pulling into an open ground, where a jet sat in, obviously waiting to take Ryan and I. Realizing that if Ryan succeeded in getting me on that jet, it might be the last time I’d ever set foot in this country, so I began to scream in horror. Ryan only snickered as he alighted from the car and pulled the back door open for me, an amused look on his face.
“There’s no need for any of these. No one can hear you here anyway.”
As he pulled me out of the car with his grip firm on my bicep, he slammed the door shut and began to tug me towards the jet. Five people could be seen standing beside the jet, guns in their hands and heads casted down in respect, making me wonder once again about what Ryan really is.
I began to resist even harder, screams tearing out of my lungs. Ryan let out a frustrated sigh and gripped my hair next, tugging me along with him like I was some sort of animal.
With my heart in my throat and every bit of hope stripped from me, I still held my heart open that a miracle would happen. When Ryan neared the jet, I watched as the five men bowed to him once again.
“The bomb already went off, sir.” One of them said in a gruff voice and as Ryan’s dark laughter echoed around the empty atmosphere, it felt like my entire world collapsed in that moment, prompting me into letting out a blood curling scream.
A slap to my face made me land in the dirt with my head ringing hard.
“I’m gonna have so much work on my hand when it comes to training you. That filthy bastard ruined you, made you a whiny, annoying person, but not for long, cause I’m sure it won’t take me long to whip you into shape.” As he continued to speak, I tuned him out because all that he was saying meant nothing to me, all that mattered to me in this world was Luca, who had apparently been blown up.
I was still sobbing on the ground when Ryan grabbed my arm and was on the verge on tugging me up, but the sound of a car pulling up from a distance made his grip stiffened, as his eyes left my body to focus in the expanse of space behind me, where I assumed a car had pulled up in.
I twisted around in curiosity, with my heart pouncing harshly against my chest, eyes widening in confusion on noticing that more than one car was pulling up.
They were three in total, and before I could began to wonder who its occupants were, Ryan cursed underneath his breath and began to roughly tug me forward, grip extremely tight on my bicep.
“Let her go, you fucking bastard.” A chillingly familiar voice snapped in a firm, chilling tone, causing me to instantly stiffen, along with Ryan who froze in his step. He turned around just as I twisted my head around, and at once, my eyes widened and my mouth fell open in shock.
There stood Angelo, beside one of the cars, with a gun in his grip, pointed at Ryan.
My heart raced as I watched as guards poured out from the car Angelo was standing beside, who all had their guns aimed at Ryan.
Ryan snickered and instantly whipped out a gun, which he pointed at Angelo, then at me in the next moment, causing my heart to fly into my throat once again. The feeling of the gun pressed against my head made it hard for me to breathe.
“Take a step closer, I dare you.” Ryan roared, sounding more crazed than I remembered. Tears were still streaming down my face, blurring my vision a little when the last car opened. Out stepped a bunch of men, and when one of them stepped forward to pull the backdoor of the first car open, with bated breath, I watched as Luca stepped out of the car.
It felt like I was hallucinating and that particular scene replayed in my head over and over again. Luca was standing here in person, looking completely unscathed, and more tears sprang out my eyes when our eyes locked. His eyes were just as I remembered, just as I imagined it in my mind countless times to present myself from going sane.
“You wouldn’t dare.” Luca finally spoke, voice low and commanding and at once, a hot wave of hope engulfed me from every direction.
Luca was here.
He was here in person.
He was here to save me.
I didn’t realize when James stepped out till his voice echoed around the atmosphere. He had a gun lazily hanging from his grip.
“Oh wow, no one told me it was a family reunion tonight.” Ryan snickered, grip tightening on my arm.
“Release her at once, you’re clearly outnumbered.” Angelo snapped. His face was set in a scowl, it was obvious that he meant business. His eyes looked like he was out for blood tonight and that sent a shiver down my spine, because I almost do not recognize my baby brother right now.
“Or what? You’re gonna kill me? I’m gonna kill her before I fully die so neither of us will win tonight.” Ryan informed them, sounding smug as ever.
“Let me go, please.” I whispered but Ryan scoffed. “That fucking bastard doesn’t deserve you. No one does, to be fair. But, I’m a lesser bastard than he is.”
“No one told me you were a backstabbing pussy.” Luca mused while nodding and Ryan scoffed once again. “And no one told me you’d be this hard to kill. Why aren’t you dead? The bomb went off like it was supposed to, you’re supposed to be dead by now!”
