Luca’s pov
When I got to the hotel, I wished there was a way I had remembered to come with a disguise because I wished the top workers in here didn’t instantly recognize me. As I headed to the top of the floor, I wondered if the guy who Sofia is gonna cheat on me with is already there, and I silently told myself that the dude was gonna be walking out of the room, because he was gonna die tonight.
I was done caring about not wanting to anger Sofia, by showing up here tonight uninvited. I was done giving her space and waiting for her to forgive me.
That ends tonight.
When I knocked on the door, it took about two minutes before the door swung open, and throughout those long seconds, I silently wondered if Sofia and said guy were currently fucking, which is why it’s taking ages for her to get the door.
As soon as the door swung open, the first thing I did was to look into the room, while searching for any guy that didn’t belong in there, because no one belonged in there except me.
Moments later, I glanced down at Sofia who’s standing in the doorway after opening the door, and as my eyes roved over her from head to toe, it hit me right in the middle of the chest how much I had missed her. The gorgeousness of her face hit me all over again witt the fact that she was unreal, so out of this world that I was at a loss of words as I kept staring down at her.
The cloth she had on wasn’t out of place, neither did it look like she had horridly thrown it on after I had knocked on the door.
“No one’s in there?” I asked after a few moments had passed. Sofia’s blank face slowly morphed into a scowl, lips pursed.
“What do you think?” She asked as she folded her hands, and I almost fell to my knees because of how much I had missed her voice.
I stared at her quietly, eyes darting between her face and above her head, into the hotel room, checking to see if someone’s in there like she had said on the phone.”
“Sofia.” I called out dejectedly and she remained impassive for a fleeting moment before exhaling softly and averting her gaze.
“No one’s here.”
I found myself hesitating even after her response. “Are you sure?”
That made her whip her head around to level me with a glare, making me realize my mistake at once. “I’m not a liar, like some people.”
I felt my face fall physically. “I deserve that.” I mumbled tiredly but she only huffed and averted her gaze.
“No one’s here. You can leave now.” She suggested after about a minute of silence and I felt panic clawing at my throat, because there was no way I’d leave after getting here tonight.
“Sofia.” I whisper, reaching for her hand. She let me hold it for a moment before tugging it away and shoving it in her hoodie pocket, making my heart fall even more.
“Can I come in?”
Sofia didn’t respond, didn’t make a move until some minutes passed. She stepped back silently and I entered the room fast, counting that as tonight’s first win.
“I thought someone was here after what you said on the phone. I couldn’t sit back after that. I had to come make sure…” I trailed off when she gave me an unimpressed look. She was leaning against the edge of the couch in the sitting room while I stood in the middle of the room.
“That’s such a hypocritical move. You can’t take what you dish out. You can’t stomach what you expect me to get over just because you apologized.” She accused me, and as her words hit home, I realized that she was absolutely right.
If that makes me a hypocrite, then I am one.
“That, I am. I never claimed to be a good person, Sofia. Perhaps that made me an asshole for being unable to swallow what I dish out. I never claimed to be a saint. I’m a very bad person, and I keep reminding myself 99% of the time that I do not deserve you. You accepted me with all of my mess, and I still went ahead to fuck it up this way.”
I sucked in a deep breath after that. “Yes, I cannot sit with the thought of someone else touching you. I told myself I was gonna kill the unfortunate dude tonight if he was indeed here with you, and I don’t regret it. I’m a terrible, territorial person who’s too possessive for his own good. If I could turn back time, I wouldn’t have fucked her that day. I’d not have deceived you and kept you in the dark for so long. I’ve lived with regret for so long since the moment that mistake happened. I know all what I’m saying right now wouldn’t actually change anything. I know I fucked up big time, but I want you to forgive me and come back to me, please, Sofia…”
I didn’t even realize she had begun to cry until after I was done speaking. I headed towards her at once, apologizing frantically because this is all my fault and no one else’s. Without hesitating, I tugged her into my arms and melted against my chest, clutching my shirt as she let her tears out.
“I’m so sorry, Sofia. I really am.” I kept on whispering as I tightened my arms around her and buried my face in her hair. I had missed this tremendously, I’ve missed how she used to feel so small and perfect against my body and that made me pull her even closer as she sobbed.
“You hurt me. You hurt me and I hate you so much for that, but I’ve missed you so much, it hurts.” She whispered through her sobs, and that made my heart crumble even more. Her sweater paw reached up and beat against my chest a couple of times, and I encouraged her to do more of that if that was gonna help her get through some of the pain in my mind.
“I’m so sorry. I really am.” I whispered. I kept on echoing those words over and over again, hoping she’d believe them at a point.
