Luca’s POV
Now that both my hands were empty at that moment, I lifted both hands and placed them against my face, and then I screamed into it a little, feeling like I needed a little outlet or all the I was starting to feel stabbing into my chest. I couldn’t let loose like I actually wanted to because I was currently in public for one, and also couldn’t afford to have a breakdown at a time like this, when I was supposed to be very strong and emotionless now that I was searching for my baby brother.
He doesn’t know how to defend himself, doesn’t know how to do a fucking thing that involves violence, how was he going to be able to cope with being kidnapped? What if it was someone that had been wanting to do this for a long time, the stupid person might decide to torture him at these just for the fun of it, and the funniest unfunny thing about all these was the fact that Armani was never involved in any of this, and I had a feeling that it was one of my dad’s stupid enemies that might currently be behind this. I started to make my way outside, walking through the hallways and almost taking a wrong turn because the whole damn place was almost confusing seeing as it all looked alike and I wasn’t really paying attention to what I was currently doing at the moment, and my mind was in a really far away place.
I made my way outside, sighting James in the next moment and alongside him stood about five men whose attires gave them out instantly, three out of the five men were air forces officers.
“Hello, Mr Ricci.” The first one who stepped forward immediately started to speak, he was dressed in the uniform of the air forces. I nodded my head once at him, and my hands were currently shoved deeply into my pockets. I didn’t bother to receive his handshake and watched as he slowly retrieved his offered hand after a few seconds.
“Someone kidnapped my brother right here in the airport you’re in charge of.” I started to speak in the next moment, being super aware of the fact that James had come around to stand beside me and his arm was brushing against mine a little.
“We’re not sure of anything yet, nothing is also confirmed yet, we’re going to have to go through some things first before we can come to the conclusion that he was indeed kidnapped,”
“Are you joking with me right now?” I asked the officer almost immediately, blinking at him the next moment.
“I’m sorry sir. That’s the way things are done sir, because we’re not sure if he’s indeed kidnapped or not.”
“Are you saying I’m telling a lie?” I asked after a couple or moments, shaking my head and letting out a little scoff.
“I never said that, you’re putting words into my month, sir.”
“What he meant was that it could be that your brother left the airport himself, on his own, it might not be that he’s kidnapped yet.” The second officer decided to chip in at this very moment, and I averted my gaze from the first office to the second one.
I remained quiet after that, allowing all what he had just said to sink into my head, and I started to roll that option around inside of my head. We left the airport together, and I don’t remember him coming outside with us… could it be that he decided to leave the airport on his own when I had gone to speak with some air forces inside their office along with James?
Fuck, Armani… What have you done?
I puffed out a deep breath and turned away from the men, taking a few feet away from the men who were all staring at me in the next moment, feeling as James accompanied me almost immediately.
“Have you tried to reach him via call phone?” James asked after a few seconds of the both of us standing beside each other in silence without doing a thing: I turned my head around instantly to stare at him, blinking a little as his words sank into my head.
That’s true… I haven’t called him yet!
“Why didn’t I think of this? I haven’t called him yet.” I said to James the next moment as I started to fish out my ohhhw from my pocket almost immediately. I started to dial his number, feeling my heart hammering against my chest and ribs and feeling a tiny bit of hope start to rise up inside of my heart.
That tiny dim of hope like a small ray of sunshine, got dimmed in tne next moment, as soon as Armani’s phone didn’t ring, and in its place, was a programmed voice telling me that his number was out of reach.
“Fuck!” I groaned in the next moment, feeling the strong urge to throw my phone far far away in that moment, as my heart start to squeeze even tighter in the middle of my heart. It didn’t matter that the officers were back there talking about some stupid things when I was telling them about needing to find my brother today, it wasn’t like they even understand where I was coming from.
“It didn’t go through?” James asked as soon as I settled my eyes on his slightly hopeful looking face, and I nodded my head a couple of times before starting to speak.
“It’s fucking out of reach.”
“Oh man… we’re doomed.” I heard James start to speak in the next second and I couldn’t agree more, we really are doomed. We’re so damn doomed.
“We really are. Fuck, James… I’m doomed, fucking, completely doomed.”
“We should have just left him over there, we shouldn’t have allowed him to come over here.” James continued after a few more moments had passed, and once again, I couldn’t agree more. We should have just not allowed him to come back.
“And you were skeptical about this whole thing, I remember you being really skeptical about it, I should have just tried to listen to you.” I Started to speak after a few moments, feeling like my whole world was crumbling now that I was thinking about it. It felt like the rug which I was standing on, had just suddenly got pulled out from beneath my feet, leaving me hanging in the middle of nothing in particular.
“No, no… don’t say that, man. He’s your brother, the only one you’ve ever really cared about, it was bery normal for you to have wanted him to come back, after being unable to see him in a really long while.” James started to speak after a few seconds, moving closer to me to place a hand on my shoulder.
“I wanted him to come see me because I’ve missed him so much and also because he wanted to come home too. If he hadn’t wanted to come, I sure as hell might not ever suggest he come back here because this is a really shitty country which most definitely doesn’t fit him and rhyme with what he likes.” I paused after a couple of moments to drag in a deep breath.
“But then, not at the expense of him coming back home for this to happen to him. Imagine him living a normal life for over nine years, only for him to come back to this country, to get kidnapped the very first day he’s stepping foot back here.”
I turned around a little and started to tug on my hair almost immediately, as soon as James’ hand had slipped off my shoulder, before continuing to speak. That’s just so messed up.”
I glanced up into the sky, hating the way the sky was already darkened. A quick glance at my wrist showed that the time was about twenty minutes past seven in the evening. Some minutes more and it was going to be eight p. m in the night, and by then, not a lot was going to be able to be done. If we even wanted to start to do a thing, it was going to have to start from tomorrow morning.
What if the unfortunate people that were behind this decide to torture him throughout the night and then go finish him off tomorrow morning, before we even being to put our supposed plans into actions.
“The time is going already, let’s go make some plans before the sky gets darkened completely.” James said to me after some time and I hesitated for a few moments right before I turned around and started to make my way back to where the officers and air forces were still standing, with James walking beside me, his hands shoved deep into his pockets.
“I’m so sorry this happened, Mr Ricci.” The supposed head of the air forces working here in the airport stepped forward to start to speak and I stared at him quietly at first, not knowing what I actually wanted to say to him at that moment.
I parted my mouth to say something, but a really familiar but faint voice echoed around in my head at first, making me slowly trail off as I blinked confusingly at the officer, right before I slowly started to turn my head around to stare at the large building behind the officers.
“Luca?”
