I was stunned as I looked at her body. I could understand nothing but pain and tears. I’m an idiot and I don’t know where to look. I don’t want to look at her because it hurts me to see that it’s because of me that’s what happened to her.
I can’t forgive myself. It was because of me that she wanted to end her life. She wanted to end her suffering. That included her suffering because of me.
“Lileth,” I said and cried again. I bent down and cried as I continued to cry and call her name. “Lileth, I’m sorry.” But no matter how much I apologized, she would never hear me again. She can’t answers.
I cried again as I remembered everything that had happened to us. How I tortured and hurt her. How he suffered at my hand. How I insulted her and drove her away thinking she had sinned against me. How rubbish I looked at her.
I can’t quite imagine what kind of pain she feels every time I do that to her. How she got through that without thinking about what the three of us did to her. How she controlled herself just don’t tell me the truth so I don’t belittle myself. In the end, I was still the one she protected against me.
I hope I’m the only one in her position now. It’s really my fault so I should be the only one there. If I could just trade myself for her I would have done it but it’s too late. She has already done what she should not have done.
“Lileth.” I call her again while continuing to cry. My voice was hoarse and my eyes were dimming with incessant crying. I blamed myself for what happened to her.
Dylan is right, it’s not really good to send in anger. Anger doesn’t help when you think properly. You must think correctly before making a decision. Calm the situation first so that you can think correctly. Because if you make a decision or act in anger it will not do well. The effect is not good and the pain can harm you.
And now I have proven it. I was too sent in anger and didn’t think. I just acted and didn’t ask. I had money but did not investigate and just believed and punished her.
I belittled and insulted her so much for believing in lies. It turns out I don’t really trust her. That I did not trust her love. Now I don’t know how to recover or if I can even recover from her.
“Lileth.” I just kept calling her name. Again and again, there was no answer and I also just kept crying out of remorse.
“Dave,” I heard Daze’s voice. She comes and seat beside me and then hugs me.
“Go outside, Daze, I’ll just talk to your brother.” Behind her are dad and mom.
“But, Dad, I want to stay with Dave.” Dad looked at her angrily.
“Go,”
“I am a sister also.”
“Damian, not here,” mom said and looked at Lileth. “Let’s respect Lileth.” I looked at my wife’s body again. My tears flowed again and again.
“What’s the tears for, Dustine Dave? If you are the reason why she’s in that condition?” dad asks.
“Damian.”
“Dad, let us hear Dave’s side first.”
“Shut up, Dandelion, you don’t know everything. Whatever the reason he has. He has no right to hurt a woman. Not even a single pinch.” I wipe my tears because of what dad said.
He was right, no matter how much a woman hurts a man, the man has no right to strike them with his hand or use any force, they have no fight. What is the strength of a woman compared to a man?
“But still, I do believe that we don’t have to put all the blame on him. He’s hurt maybe that is why he did those.”
“To hurt a woman?”
“Whatever. But, still not the right time to blame him for what happened. He’s mourning for what he did and see, he’s hurt.”
“Your youngest is right, Damian,” Mom said. “Let’s wait until everything will be ok.”
The door opened and Wallace and Dane, Lauren, and Dale entered one after another. Dylan was behind them with no reaction looking at me.
“How is she?” Dane asks but I don’t answer.
“Talk to your brother.” Daddy came out followed by mommy.
“I’ll just follow your daddy.”
“You really did it, Dave?” Dale ask.
“Stop blaming him, Dale,” Daze said.
“Can you stop arguing, it can’t help.” No one spoke to what Dane said. “What did the doctor say?” she added. But I never spoke again. I didn’t know what to answer because I honestly didn’t understand what the doctor said.
“She loses a lot of blood. Dave and I match with her so each of us donated one bag. She’s out of danger for now. But not sure what will be the effect to her on about what happened,” Dylan answered.
“Effect on what?” Daze asks.
“She lost blood and if she was not taken immediately he could have died. That causes her brain a traumatic shock. When a person’s blood pressure decreases, the oxygen that travels to the brain also decreases, so some nerves in the brain can die, shut down, or be damaged. Lileth is not an exemption. It just depends on how strong her mind is.” Dylan explains to them.
I immediately texted Wallace when we arrived at the hospital because neither Dylan nor I answered my call.
“There’s a possibility she’s in a coma?” Lauren asks.
“If he doesn’t wake up after 24hours.”
“God! I hope he wakes up. Can we wake her up?” Lauren said worriedly.
“Relax wife,”
“Are you sure, hubby? I think we can wake her up.”
“He’ll wake up,” Dylan said.
“Dave, are you ok?” Lauren asks but I just look at her. “I think you’re not,” she added.
I look at Dylan because I don’t know what to say. Not that I was afraid he might hurt me. But I’m afraid he might criticize me. Especially and I’m at fault. But suddenly, he spoke.
“It’s good that you came. Otherwise, maybe that’s what happened to her. I didn’t think she would do that either, I’m sorry.” I bent down and cried when he tapped me on the back. “She will wake up.” I cried one after another.
I can say that Dylan has already forgiven me. With his pat and his gesture, I knew there were no more long words and he had forgiven me. That he understood somehow.
“Hmph —” We looked at the bed where Lileth was sleeping at the same time. I immediately stood up and approached her.
“Lileth.”
“Hmph.”
Slowly she opened her eyes and looked at me. I held her hand and smiled at her.
“Lileth. Thank God, you’re awake.” But her eyes widened when she saw me. It was as if she was terrified and suddenly lost her mind.
“Ah! Don’t touch me, don’t come near me!”
“Lileth!”
“Lileth!”
“Lileth!” Almost everyone called her.
“Don’t come any closer! Don’t come any closer! Don’t hurt me!”
“Stay away, Dave.” Dane came to her and hugged her and drove me away. “Go, Dave,” I could do nothing but step back and walk away. “Lileth, shh! Lileth, this is Dane. Calm down, no one’s gonna hurt you.” She hugged Dane back and then cried.
“I’ll call the doctor.” Lauren ran out of the room.
“Lileth,” I called to her.
“Don’t come any closer,” she said as she continued to cry.
“I’m sorry, Lileth.” I knelt not far from her and bowed then cried one after another. I don’t mind who’s here. I want to show her and all of them my remorse. “I’m sorry.” I continue to cry when Dylan comes. He wanted me to stand up but I did not obey.
“Dustine?” I looked up and looked at her. “Do not Cry. Stand there.”
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry for what I did. I already know everything, I already remember everything. Forgive me.” Dylan supported me and I walked closer to her but even before I could get close she suddenly shouted.
“Don’t come too close!” she shouted and I could see the confusion and fear on her face. I could also see her shiver and seem to be retreating wanting to hide from Dane.
“Lileth,” Dane was also surprised and stroked her shoulder. “Something wrong?”
“I don’t know, Dane. But I’m afraid Dustine will get close to me.” Then she looked at me.
“What do you mean?” Even Dylan asks her.
“I do not know. I do not know. I’m sorry Dustine but I don’t know.” She also cried one after another. “I’m afraid you came to me. I’m nervous about you coming.” Dylan and I looked at each other because he said so.
“Am I okay with coming to you?” Dylan asks and approaches her. She even touched her but Lileth just looked at her.
“I’m sorry, Dustine,” she said and then hugged Dane. “I feel sorry for you, but please don’t come near me first.”
