95. ‘Our son,’ Macy thought as she smiled to herself.
The words sounded nice coming from Richard’s mouth.
She couldn’t believe just how nice nature had been to her.
For the first time in five years, since she joined the acting industry, she got a major role in a big film and then Mel happened and now Richard and to top it all, her baby wasn’t dead.
Yes she had been away during the formative years of her son’s life but he was alive and she would have the rest of her life to show him just how much he was loved.
She would have two children: her boy and Mel.
At least they wouldn’t be alone anymore.
‘Maybe we can also add them a brother or a sister,’ she thought, then blushed red as she looked at Richard from the corner of her eye.
She was embarrassed even thinking of having a baby with Richard.
She promised herself to love her children equally because they would all be her children.
She would never do what her birth mother did to her.
And then she was suddenly nervous at the thought of meeting her son.
Would he love her?
What would she say to him?
She started chewing her pinky finger, something she did when she was nervous and Richard had noticed, and he spoke.
“You okay? What’s making you nervous?” He asked her as he held her right hand, the one whose pinky was being chewed, with his left hand as he controlled the steering wheel with his right hand.
“How do I approach him when we see him?
What do I tell him? What should I say to him?
Do I blame the man who took him away from me?
What if he didn’t keep him but gave him up to another family?”
What do I…” She asked all these questions and the more she asked, the more nervous she got.
She didn’t even know where to start when she saw her baby.
He was her life and he had been her companion when she was pregnant and that was why losing him was so painful.
During that time, Andy left her and the Phillips family treated her like a plague.
She was only seventeen but she was forced to carry a pregnancy all alone and even tend to herself.
She wasn’t even allowed to tell the Smiths.
The only person she could talk to was her unborn baby.
She had been hidden even away from old Mama Philips.
Now that she thought about it, it was like they wanted to take her baby from the beginning and then return her to society like nothing happened.
And now her mother called pretending to be worried about her and she expected Macy to pretend that nothing happened?
Macy chuckled amidst her nervousness when she thought about it.
“Don’t worry about it. I am with you and we will know how to handle it.
We will be holding each other’s hands,” Richard said and Macy was touched.
She blushed until it showed on her ears because she wasn’t used to all that.
Macy had been used to being alone and relying only on herself and now, having Richard with her was a strange sensation.
She tried racking her brain on why Richard should like her but she couldn’t come up with any answer.
She tried thinking of all the things she had done to make Richard hate her and there they were.
As Macy was racking her brain on whys and hows Angela was cooped up in her hotel room with no identity.
She knew that she couldn’t show her face to anyone since many people knew her.
For the first time in her life, Angela hated being a celebrity.
If she wasn’t a celebrity, it would have been easier to go outside.
But Angela also needed to talk to Andy.
She couldn’t believe that the idiot would just drop her after she made him.
It was her hard work that enabled him to become the president of their company at such a young age.
Angela wore her disguise and left for outside.
She couldn’t use her hotel phone since she would be selling herself out.
As she walked in the streets of the slums where she was hidden, she didn’t see the shadow that was following her.
She thought that she had hidden very well.
She came to a public phone booth and slipped in some coins in the coins booth.
She then dialled Andy’s personal number.
Andy was seated in his office lost in thought.
He was still thinking of that call with Macy where she told him that she was married and never to call her again.
He looked at the caller ID and saw a new number though it was local.
The first thought that came to his mind was that it was a business call but then wondered why the person would call him directly and not through his secretary.
He decided to ignore the call and that he did.
He took the remote control and turned on the TV to see if he would see anything new to make him forget about Macy and Angela.
But the phone wouldn’t stop ringing.
When it rang for the fourth time, he decided to receive the call.
He figured that it must be urgent for the person to call so many times.
“He…”
“What took you so long to answer?” Angela interrupted him even before he could say the word hello.
“Angela?” He asked as she stood up forgetting all he was doing.
“Where are you? Everyone is looking for you,” he asked but that was not the reason why she called.
“Andy, do you believe everything they are saying?” She asked using the smooth voice she always used on him when she needed a favour.
“Angela, no one is saying anything that you didn’t confess yourself,” he said and sat down again feeling beaten.
“Andy, you can’t believe them. Macy drugged me. In fact, she had a gun to my head and she had things written on a piece of paper.
You have to help me babe,” she tried and hoping that her magic would work on him like it always did.
“Angela, first of all, I know you don’t love me.
Two, if everything you are saying is true, there is no need for you to run.
You should have gone to the police and told them everything you have just told me.
And by the way, is it true that Macy is married,” he remembered to ask since that was the issue that was eating him.
He refused to believe that the woman who loved him no longer did.
“Why are you asking me about her?
I should be the one you are worried about.
Help me Andy. Help hide me until the heat dies off.
I am your wife and…” she began but Andy laughed.
She hadn’t expected that and she was surprised why he would laugh when she was seriously asking for his help.
“Angela, I am sorry but no one wants anything to do with you and that includes me.
I don’t love you anymore and in fact, I believe that you must have used some kind of a voodoo on me to make me hate Macy and get infatuated with you.
You are a whore who sleeps with just anyone as long as they can do what you want.
You are a murderer and a thief.
I can’t help you.
The company has already issued a statement distancing itself with you.
Even the Philips company has already distanced itself with you.
That means I, as the president and CEO of this company, can’t have anything to do with you,” Andy said and if he had powers to see Angela at that moment, he would have been able to see that she was breathing fire.
“You ungrateful idiot! How do you think it was possible for you to become the CEO of that company?
I made you CEO and now you think you are such an important person?
Do you think you would be anything without me?” She said but one thing got stuck in Andy’s mind.
“What do you mean you made me CEO?” He asked hoping that it wasn’t what he was thinking.
“Did you think your father just happened to get sick and unable to work because nature wanted it?
I was the god that made you CEO.
I was the god that made it possible for that old geezer to fall sick and be unable to work and as such delegate all the work to you and recommend you as the president of the company.
I used my body to make most of those smelly old snails on the board agree to vote you in.
And now you have the audacity to tell me that you have blacklisted me?
If you don’t help me I swear I will kill you!” She screamed and then remembered that she was in a public place and she was starting to draw public attention.
“You did what?” Andy asked as he pressed the record button on his phone.
