Macy skipped up to where she had packed her motorbike hitting the left palm of her hand with the bundle of notes she had just taken from that man she had just roughed up.
She smiled, sniffed the money, smiled again and then took her keys from her jacket pocket and put the money there.
She was so happy that if she had been a little bit more alert, she would have noticed the vinegar jar that was standing just a few meters away from her hiding behind a car looking at her.
She revved her motorbike’s engine and drove off after securing her helmet.
Richard too took his motorbike after a while as he looked at his phone at the GPRS tracker he had placed on her shoes and followed closely behind.
Macy looked at her watch and saw that it was just a few minutes past one in the morning and she shook her head.
“Too early,” he said to herself and then stopped at the side of the road.
She couldn’t go home as she thought it was too early.
She needed Richard to know that she was a riot by getting back at the wee hours of the morning.
She wracked her mind on where to go and kill the time and an idea came to her.
She started her engine again and drove up to the rundown apartment building she used to live in before she moved to Glory Apartments.
She opened the door and since it had been a while since she moved out, everything was dusty.
She took the pillows on the couch and beat them together with her face to the side all scrunched up due to the dust.
After that, she laid flat on the couch with her shoes still on and set her alarm for four in the morning.
She then closed her eyes and within minutes, she had drifted off to sleep.
Richard waited for around thirty minutes before he went upstairs and slowly, very slowly, opened the door that had been left unfastened and peeped inside.
He didn’t see Macy anywhere and then sneaked inside.
He was wondering if he had gone to the wrong house and she actually came here to see someone. But his tracker would not lie to him and then he saw her lying on the couch and snoring lightly.
“She must have been very tired,” he though as he saw all the mosquitoes that were ravaging her hands and face.
He gently knelt before her and started swatting the mosquitoes away.
He did that up until he thought at what time she would wake up and he took her phone.
He saw the displayed clock window that showed the alarm set for four in the morning.
He sat there as he made sure that the mosquitoes don’t get near her up until ten minutes to four and then he got our slowly and then went straight home.
Macy was woken up on time by her alarm and then she stretched and opened her eyes.
She wished that she could sleep a bit more and she was tempted as she closed her eyes again but then she remembered that she had appearances to keep.
She left the apartment and this time, as she rode back home, she didn’t wear her mask as she wanted the wind to ruffle her face and hair so that she would look as if she had been partying the whole night.
She rode up to the garage and parked the bike herself and then went to the house.
She was wondering how to go about making sure that Richard found out that she got home in the wee hours of the morning when she found the devil busy at the living room with a lot of files.
“Hey, not sleep yet?” She asked Richard in a cheery voice as she walked towards him.
“Hey, I woke up early because these are all needed today and somehow, I let work pile up.
Just getting home?” Richard answered and asked her.
“Mmm, I’m so tired. Been partying all night,” she said and then yawned.
“Oh, then go and take some rest. You need it.
Don’t forget you have the movie promotion coming up and you should look as beautiful as ever,” Richard told her and resumed his work.
“Okay, have a good day,” Macy said and turned to leave in disappointment.
“Wait,” Richard called and Macy knew that this was it.
“Yes?” she asked ready for his rant and reprimand.
“What’s that on your neck?” Richard asked as she stood up from his seat and looked closely at her neck.
“Looks like a mosquito bite,” he said after checking for a while.
“Oh, sorry,” Macy laughed awkwardly and then hid the place that had been stung by a mosquito with her palm.
“That must be a hickey someone gave me. That idiot! And I asked him not to bite too hard,” she said and Richard just answered with a ‘mm’ and then walked to a cabinet by the wall and opened it.
“Here, use this,” he said as he produced a cream and handed it to her.
“What is this?” she asked him as she read the name of the product.
“Oh, apply it on the hickey. I had bought it for mosquito bites but then I found out that it also does excellent work on hickeys too.
We don’t want that becoming all red by morning and making your neck look like it was bitten by a vampire,” Richard said.
Even before Macy could reply to what he had said, he had already taken the cream from her and opened the container.
He scooped a little with his index finger and applied for her.
The contact of his finger with her skin made Macy forget her name for a while and almost moaned his name but then shook her head and got out of it.
She then moved out of his reach as she rubbed where he was just rubbing with her finger.
“Is there something wrong?” Richard asked in a very calm voice as if he couldn’t tell what he was doing to her.
“Oh, I… I… ahem … I think I… ahem… I think I should apply it after taking a shower. Thank you though,” She said win an unsteady voice and then took the cream from her and tuned to leave.
“Oh, wait. That man gave you a hickey in the hand too?” he asked as he showed her where the sleeve of her jacket had exposed another mosquito bite.
She laughed awkwardly, waved at him and run upstairs.
“Damn it!” She cursed when she was back in her room because nothing had gone as she had planned.
Richard wasn’t angry at all even when she told him that that was a hickey.
“What a strange man? He even helped me apply the cream,” she said as she put the cream on the table and then sat in her bed.
She thought for a while and then sighed.
She had tried all the tricks she knew and she wondered what kind of people these two brothers were.
Instead of getting angry when she went drag racing, Ash gifted her a car. And now, here was the eldest helping her treat her hickey marks!
She sat there thinking of what she should do next and when she couldn’t think anymore, she stood up and went to the bathroom to take a quick shower before hitting the bed.
Richard watched Macy rush upstairs in embarrassment with a smile on his face.
When she was out of sight, he looked at the finger that was burning u after he had touched Macy.
He had beer felt the way he felt after touching someone and he had touched many either in greeting or on combat.
When he touched her, he felt a jolt run from where he made contact with her to the rest of his body.
Even Cassandra never made her feel like that.
“A hickey my foot!” he said and laughed lightly as he looked at his finger.
“Then you would be having a thousand hickeys if I wasn’t there to make sure that those men didn’t bite you to death,” he said and looked at his hands.
When he came back ahead of her, he knew she would be having mosquito bites and when he looked at his hands, he had a few.
That was when he retrieved the cream from his room and applied it on himself and then waited for her.
It was an expensive cream that worked in minutes and his hands were all well.
He just hoped that those mosquitoes didn’t come with any type of a disease because he would hate to see her sick.
“Let us see what game you will play next,” he said to himself and then walked upstairs to wait for six thirty when he usually woke up for the office.
“Nice try though,” he thought as he looked at Macy’s door and guessed that she was already asleep since he couldn’t see any light through the key hole.
