Macy spent a half of the following day sleeping which she didn’t have to mind because Mel was at school.
The person who came banging at her door and called her awake was Asher.
“Sister in law, wake up,” he called and Macy came out of her room guns blazing.
“What did you call me?” She asked and he could read that she wasn’t in a good mood.
“Nothing. What did you hear? Or did you hear something you would like to become?” He teased and she jumped and flipped on air three hundred and sixty degrees.
Do you love your teeth the way they are?” She asked as she stood effortlessly.
“Oh my God! What did my brother see in you with you? Does he know that you are a violent woman?” Asher asked as he took steps backwards as if he was seriously afraid of Macy.
“Second young master, I think you don’t like your mouth where it is.
I will reset it for you,”act said as she took steps towards him in a menacing way.
“Stop it. I come here to call you for lunch and this is how you treat your brother in law?” He shouted and Macy was sure that the whole house heard it.
“What are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be at work?” Macy asked as she walked downstairs with Asher on her heels.
“I didn’t go today plus we are neighbors.
This is mansion number 1 and mine is number 2. There,” he said as she showed her his house.
He had stayed because his brother had asked him to keep an eye on Macy and he was determined to.
If there was anything Asher loved more than he loved his family, it was gossip. So, anything that would guve him something to gossip about was a welcome relief to him.
“Where is the food?” Macy asked as she came downstairs and there was no food on the dining table.
“Oh, I asked them not to cook because I am taking you out for brunch. Let’s go,” Asher said all excited, and excitement Macy didn’t share in.
“I am not going. I have a competition tonight and I have to be in top form and I want to rest.
I will just ask uncle Alex to prepare something light for me later and I will be good,” Macy said and made as if to go upstairs again.
“What competition? Why don’t I know about it? Where will it be?” Asher asked as he pulled Macy to sit on the couch.
“Listen second young master. Not everyone is born with a silver spoon in their mouth like you.
I am a poor girl trying to make it in the entertainment industry and I have to do what I can to make each day comfortable.
So, I do drag races and motorbike races and illegal gambling.
You know what young master, I think I should stay away from older young master, Mel and you.
Imagine if I was to be caught by the police and I incriminate you. Wouldn’t it be dangerous?” Macy asked shooting her shot.
“About my brother I don’t know but I want to go with you to these races and see for myself.
Are you doing a drag race or a motorbike race?” Asher asked clearly intrigued.
Macy looked at him like he had gone mad.
“Are you crazy? Why would I take you there? Those are bad guys and you don’t look like you can kill a mosquito,” Macy said and Asher held his chest in a painful gesture.
“Ouch! That hurt. I will let you know that I am a red belt,” Asher said proudly and Macy looked at him sceptically.
“I swear. It’s in my house.
I train regularly and I am among the best. A red belt. Feel that?” Asher said laughed.
“Okay. Okay. But that doesn’t change anything.
You are an Armstrong and I would be damned of I tok you to those places. I can’t risk it.
Do you know how many times we have to run from the police? Who will baby you?
What if you get caught?” Macy asked and Asher knew where to get her.
“First tell me, which ones do you compete in?” He asked.
“I do motorcycle and gambling in the casino. I don’t do drag races because I don’t have a car,” Macy said and there it was.
“Tell you what, take me with you and I will give you one of my sports cars and you can win others if you are good at it,” Asher said and Macy looked at him like he was out of it.
“Do you know what you are offering?” Macy asked.
“I have enough and letting go of one, though it will hurt my heart, is okay since it’s you, my sister in law,” he said and Macy held her hand in desperation and sighed.
“Why have I never known you are a block head second young master? Call me by my name!
How many brothers do you have?” Macy asked.
“One. Only Richard and you know it,” Asher answered seriously not seeing the trap.
“Then I am not your sister in law!” Macy said and stood up.
“Does he know?” Asher asked.
“What do you mean? Your brother and I have never been together neither will we ever be. I have to rest. Go away,” she said and asjer smiled.
“You sure you don’t want that car?” I will look at it later not now.
I am tired and don’t want to go anywhere,” she said and Asher pulled her hand and started leading her out.
“Where are we going? I swear I will break your jaw,” Macy threatened.
“I want you to see the cars. They are in my mansion.
I couldn’t take them home because dad would burn them. Come,” he said and Macy followed obediently when she heard that it was about cars.
They came to a small side gate that connected their two mansions and there was a kep pad.
“Why do you have to lock your side with a key pad? Don’t you trust your brother?” Macy asked.
“Yes. I don’t trust him. Whenever he comes to these sides, he would steal my vegetables and fruits. He’s so lazy to grow his and he always vandalizes mine,” he said and started keying in the numbers.
Macy closed her eyes and paid attention. She knew that kind of a keypad and she could tell what sound each number made. She thus listened to the numbers he keyed in and she instantly knew they key lock combination.
When they walked in to that side of the estate, Macy could clearly tell the difference.
Asher’s area was green and red with all kinds of fruits.
There was a big greenhouse at the back of the house through the side they came in in and Macy ran inside.
Inside were all typed of vegetables in small patches and fruits from berries to tomatoes to oranges.
“Wow!” Macy said as she bent and plucked a strawberry.
“Wow! So succulent,” she said as she bit into it.
Asher was busy explaining to her how he grows them himself organically without any chemicals whatsoever.
“Hey! Throw that out. Throw it out! Who told you to harvest it without my permission?
Throw it out!” He screamed at Macy and before he could get to her, she had already eaten it.
“Get out! Get out! I should have known that you are like big brother and. yiu can’t be trusted.
Get out! I should have just taken you to the garage straight,” he complained as he pushed her out.
Macy laughed as she ran to the other side fleeing from his grasp and plucked and orange and ran out.
Asher screamed bloody murder to her but he couldn’t catch up with her.
She ate it quickly and he was screaming the whole time telling her that she was eating his soul.
“Come take your car and leave. I blame myself for thinking that you can be trusted.
Don’t ever come to this place again. Murderer.
You ate my fruits. My poor friends are now in your stomach!” He lamented.
“Why are you speaking like they were never meant to be eaten?” Macy asked wiping her hands in her pajama bottoms.
“You won’t understand. You won’t.
Them and I made an agreement that I would only be plucking them at a certain time of the year only and now you killed two,” he said as she locked the door and then led Macy towards the garage.
When the garage door was opened and the lights switched on, Macy stood there with her jaws falling.
She had fallen in love.
