Macy, like Richard, was also wondering why she had agreed like a child to follow him home. She always knew herself as a hard headed person and when she was coming back to DC from China, she had agreed with herself not be a wiping mat for anyone.
And now, here she was in a man’s house without any reason to. She knew Richard cared for her and that he had never hurt her but this was never in her goals or plans.
Macy and Richard were two people whom she had never thought or planned about.
When Mel called her mama, she froze because she didn’t know how to react.
She sat down and swallowed then looked at the maids who had brought food and the old man who was standing there and they were all pretending that they didn’t hear anything.
Mel was smiling from ear to ear and Macy didn’t have the energy to reprimand her.
She pretended that she hadn’t heard what Mel had said and she took tissues from the table to wipe her sweaty hands.
“Baby, are you hungry? Let’s eat,” she said though her voice was shaky.
Allowing Mel to call her mother would bring issues and complications she didn’t want to face as of yet.
Her first goal was to get her revenge as she had planned. She had to make Angela and the whole Philips family pay and then eat the dessert of making Andy realise that betraying her wad the worst mistake he ever did.
She thus decided to do something that would make Richard cahse her away from his house. She didn’t want to hurt him or not appreciate his gratitude and so, she decided that she would do it the Macy style.
‘The plan would kick in tonight,’ Macy thought and smiled slyly as she ate the food that had been placed before her.
“Baby, I am busy today, would you mind spending the day with the other aunts? I promise we will play when I have time,” Macy told Mel.
Mel didn’t want Macy to leave her and so, she had promised herself to be good so, she didn’t fight it and just agreed with a smile.
“It’s okay mama, I will just read the new comics grandpa Alex bought for me,” she said referring to the old butler.
After eating, Macy got ready and left.
She had to plan some things and the best way was to visit the friends she had made when she was newly returned.
While studying abroad, Macy took up some hobbies that a Philips girl wasn’t allowed to pick but she didn’t care anyway. Wasn’t she a Smith?
Her father, Mr Philips, had forced her to start using her former name of the parents she had grown up with when they thought that she was too much of a shame to be a Philip.
She was happy though because it made things easier for her and she stopped getting questions of why she and Angela shared a name.
The fact that she and Angela looked totally different since they didn’t share a parent or blood made things easier for her.
She, however, had Chinese features like her mother but since no one knew her real story, they all assumed that her parents from wherever she came from were Chinese blacks or something like that.
Macy went to her friends who lived in the capital and their leader was one Lion. His name was Lionel Cane Santos but Lion went well with his line of business.
He had a Spanish after and an American mom.
He was the one who ran a small gang of people who involved themselves with illegal races and betting.
He was a Brazilian who had come to DC following the American dream and unlike many others, life in USA had favored him.
“Hey M? Been so long. How have you been sis?” Lion, who was in love with Macy and who Macy had turned down countless times, greeted and kissed her in the cheek.
Macy smiled and after pleasantries, she told Lion why she was there.
“I need quick money and I need to race,” she said.
“Oh, the track had really missed you and you came at the right time because tomorrow, there will be a race on 5th avenue.
We will do it at one in the night and the stakes are high this time. The winner takes ten thousand home,” he said with a smile.
When Macy returned to DC, no one in her family knew and so, she had to do something to earn and she did what she had learnt in the streets of China and Africa.
She had joined illegal gambling because it had more money than anything legal.
The only rule here was if the police came and you got caught, you go down alone.
But Macy wasn’t willing to go down yet and she had evaded the police on more than one occasion and she was very good at it.
Lion loved her because she was a rare talent. She held a motorbike like she was born on one and went with speeds he would only see on computer games and not even once had she been in an accident.
She stopped racing when she joined acting after she started getting jobs.
She told him that she couldn’t continue since she wanted to become and actress and if anyone ever caught wind of the fact that she was involved with them, it would ruin her careers.
But now she was here again not because she needed money but because she knew that someone was keeping a watch in her and he would finally find out that she wasn’t the woman he thought she was and she this won’t be a good wife nor a mother to his child. And true to her thoughts, May was watching her and reported all she was doing.
She went back but didn’t go home because she wanted to start getting ready for the following day.
It had been long since she raced and she was out of practice and she this went to her former house, the one where she used to live in the dilapidated apartment building before she was moved to Royal Apartments bu Richard.
Without anyone’s knowledge, she had parked get most prized possession there: a Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory – 217 horsepower.
She had raced and dragged for months and gambled to save for her very own motorcycle and she had used Lion and his connections and he shipped it for her right from Spain.
It was her baby and Macy had learnt how to repair motorcycles because she couldn’t imagine anyone else touching her baby.
She had been able to modify the garage of the apartments, which was rarely used since many of the residents there didn’t own vehicles and so, no one had been able to tell that there was such an expensive machine there.
She decided to take it out for a ride and it was a good thing that she had worn her leather pants and jacket and her boots and all she needed was a helmet which there.
When she started racing with herself, she smiled when the wind kissed her cheeks and flattered her hair that hadn’t been tucked in the helmet and she smiled.
Oh, how she had missed this.
She went beyond the speed limits and all the security cameras could catch were flashes and she knew she would be followed by the police of she wasn’t careful and after two rounds around the city, she decided that both she and the bike were in top form and she was ready dmfor the race.
She really hoped that Richard would have her followed and when he saw the kind of people she was associating with, he would let her be. She wasn’t ready to tarnish his life with her unusual family matters and get dark past.
But when May went back to report to Richard all Macy did and what she was planning to do, all Richard had to say was, “make sure the police stay out of their way and keep an eye on her in case she is in an accident.”
May was left flabbergasted. She, like Macy, thought that Richard would mind but she was surprised.
‘If she thinks she will get me by doing this, she better try again,’ Richard thought and smiled.
Macy had another surprise on the way.
