There was tension and excitement all over the room as people waited.
They even started betting on what kind of a person would walk in and Macy had to kiss.
“What if it’s a waiter?” one asked.
“A waiter would be okay,” another answered.
“But I’m thinking, what if it’s a beggar?
Imagine someone who never brushes their teeth and is dirty and smelly,” another joked as she laughed loudly.
“I would rather kiss my fellow girl than a beggar,” a girl that was in the support casts said with a look of disgust.
“You are an idiot. This is a five star hotel.
What would a beggar be doing here?
Do you even think the guards at the main entrance would allow such a person in?” Another countered.
“It was just a thought,” she defended herself.
“What if the director comes back?
Will Macy be able to do it?” Another asked and there was another uproar on the implications of what would happen if that happened.
“She woukd be lucky to kiss such a person. I go for a waiter or a waitress,” the discussion continued.
The most nervous one was Macy.
She was holding her hands nervously because she didn’t want to just kiss anyone.
She knew that if she kissed just anyone, she would never hear the end of it from this lot.
She couldn’t take it.
Even drinking those three shots seemed better than kissing just anyone now.
“Hey, Macy. It’s been almost twenty minutes.
Your time is almost up.
Just come and take your shots so that the game could continue,” the lady who was leading the games said.
Macy looked at her watch and sighed nervously. She didn’t want to do this.
“I still have four minutes,” Macy said as she closed her eyes and started praying.
She now wished for anyone. Even if it was that beggar.
“Why is it taking so long for anyone to come in?” One asked
“Even waiters. It’s almost like something is holding them outside. I will go check,” one of them observed.
“Remember you cannot come back in unless you want to kiss macy,” another shouted.
“It would be my joy,” he said and made as if to stand.
“Sit your drunk ass down,” another held him down and they waited.
If they had cared to check on Angela, they would have noticed how restless she looked.
She kept looking at her watch, then her phone and then the door.
She now looked like she would stand and open door herself.
Even the girl she had sent out wasn’t getting in.
She wondered what was happening.
Two minutes to go and still nothing.
“Two minutes Macy, just give up,” and she was called but she stubbornly stood there.
She even thought of running away.
What would they do if she ran away?” she wondered.
She would love to but she knew that she had to work with these people for a while and she didn’t want their relationship to be sour.
“One minute,” someone shouted excitedly.
Macy looked at her watch and gave up.
She got ready to take those shots and she turned to walk back to the table and then they heard the door open.
Macy spun wondering who it was who had just walked in when she had lost hope and she froze on her feet.
Everyone else in the room kept quiet and there was pin drop silence as everyone looked at the stranger who had just walked in.
It was like it was a looking match. No one spoke.
The man was tall, taller than most and very handsome.
He seemed like the prince charming every girl dreams of.
He was in a blue suit that really accentuated his skin tone and he was panting a little.
There were a few beads of sweat at his brow and at the temple and his gaze was fixed on Macy.
“Did I come the wrong room?” The man asked.
That deep voice that seemed to be carrying waves of emotions made the girls’ jaws drop.
“So handsome,” a girl breathed.
“Kiss him Macy,” another shouted.
Kiss him? Kiss Richard?
Macy wondered.
Fate had really wanted her to take that alcohol tonight.
She pretended not to know him and was about to turn when he spoke.
“Kiss? She had to kiss someone?” Richard asked in a deep mellow voice with no hurry.
Macy stood again as she looked at him.
Their eyes met and she wondered what he was playing at.
“Yes sir. It was a dare and she had to kiss the person who walked into the room before the elapse of twenty minutes and you walked in at the twentieth minute when we thought she had lost.
Will save her?” A man in the crew who was so drunk as to tell when it was said excitedly.
Macy almost facepalmed as she listened to him.
“Oh, okay,” I Richard said as he took one step and he was beside Macy.
She was frozen on the spot and didn’t have even the energy to move.
Richard held her head at the cheeks on both sides and turned her to face him.
At this proximity, their height difference was staggering.
Macy couldn’t speak as her eyes held Richard’s.
He lowered his head and then changed his gaze from her eyes to her lips.
He then connected their lips and Macy just stood there.
It was like her brain had refused to work and she hadn’t yet registered what was happening.
Richard kissed her and nibbled at those lips and he traced his tongue through her teeth and he would have given her tongue but he stopped himself.
He didn’t understand what took over him but once he tasted those lips, he didn’t want to stop.
He wanted more. He wanted to know why she was so sweet.
There were noises of excitement and cheers as people cheered the kiss.
Richard broke away from her and looked at her.
“I’m waiting for you downstairs. Don’t be long,” he said and smiled at her.
“I will be going back to my meeting then,” Richard addressed the crowd in that mellow voice.
“Stay. Stay with us,” some girls said but
he just smiled at them and walked out.
“Macy, you are so lucky.
You got to kiss such a gorgeous man.”
“The bottle should have pointed at me.”
“I’m jealous of her. Why wasn’t it me?”
Those, among many others, were the things everyone was saying or thinking.
Angela had turned green.
She couldn’t belive Macy’s luck.
Why?
Where did her plan go wrong?
At that moment, with Macy still frozen at the door and people trying to figure out who that man was, Angela’s minion walked back in looking battered.
“But who was that man?”
“I have never seen him in the capital.”
“He looked rich and gorgeous. What a combination?”
“Did anyone take a picture?”
“Hey! What happened to you?” Someone asked when they saw the girl who had just walked in.
She even made Macy wake up from her trance.
She looked as if she had been put in a gutter, turned over ten times and then dried up in a washer.
“Ah, don’t even ask.
There was a beggar at the entrance and he attacked me.
He forced kisses on me and…..
Yuuuuck! Give me alcohol to cleanse my mouth,” she said as she scrunched up her face and shivered.
That brought another round of discussions and chatter as people tried discussing how he got in.
The guards also couldn’t explain how he got in as that swore that they didn’t see him walk in and there is only one entrance.
Aarrgh! I feel like killing myself,” the girl explained as she chagged shots until someone held her to stop her.
She looked at Angela and clicked as she took her bag and walked out in a huff while murmuring inaudibly.
Macy took her seat at the table and the games continued.
She was yet to wrap her head around the fact that Richard had just kissed her.
Not just a peck but saliva and all.
She shook her head as she tried to convince herself that it wasn’t him. And if it was him, then she was dreaming.
That kiss both terrified her and made her shiver in joy.
She was confused and she took a glass and chugged down a shot.
She wasn’t intending to drink but she needed fire in her stomach.
Maybe it would help her wake up.
After a short while, she was May walked in with a smile as if she had hit jackpot.
“Boss is waiting for you,” she whispered to Macy and that’s when she remembered.
Richard had told her that he was waiting downstairs and she hadn’t quiet registered it.
She smiled and apologised to the rest and then walked out with May.
Maybe after she meets him, she would realize that it wasn’t him.
But, she stopped to think.
That suit.
Wasn’t that the suit she and Mel bought together?
