Book:Burning with vengeance: The runaway heir Published:2024-6-4

Richard was dying from the inside and thinking of a thousand ways in which he could make Cassy suffer.
He knew that she had changed from the woman he fell in love with but he hadn’t known how much.
It never occurred to him that she had the guts to kidnap Melvin after everything he had done to them.
This time, he was going to erase them off of the face of earth, literally.
As he boarded the military grade helicopter, he couldn’t wait to get his hands on Cassandra.
He just hoped that both Macy and melvin were okay. He really hoped that Macy was strong enough to deal with whichever people who were still in the jet.
But what Cassandra did not know was that after almost losing Melvin that day she had been locked in the utility room with Macy, he had put a tracking device on her.
He could tell where they were in the air and where they were headed.
As Cassandra thought she had everything under control, Richard had already started deploying people ready for action.
His first mission was to rescue Macy and Melvin and then skin Cassandra and her minions after that.
But something unexpected happened.
He saw on his phone as Macy and Melvin fell from the jet.
He felt his heart on his throat because he wasn’t sure whether they had been pushed or they had jumped.
The mission to catch Cassandra still continued but manpower was now divided. Some were to go and search for the two who had jumped off the plane.
When Macy jumped, she didn’t know where she was or where she was going to land.
All she knew was that it was better to deal with whatever condition she could meet on land than risk going wherever it was the crazy woman wanted to take them.
From what Macy had gathered, Cassandra had a deal to sell Melvin’s organs to a rich person and then use the money to run from Richard.
Macy knew that if they got to whoever it was who was the buyer, they would be goners. That was why she preferred to jump other than wait.
She controlled the strings of the parachute and she made sure that Melvin wasn’t scared as they glided across air.
Then she saw it when she was controlling it so as to land.
They were going to land in moor land and it was too late to direct the parachute to another area.
She thought of what to do and decided to land and then think of how to get out of there once they were safely on the ground.
She controlled the parachute and she landed on a dry piece of land that was surrounded by quicksand.
She unfastened Melvin first and then herself and put the parachute on the ground carefully because she knew that we were going to need it.
The area they had landed in was about ten metres in diameter separated from another patch of dry land by an area that was about twenty metres wide of quicksand.
If she was alone, this would have been nothing.
She was light and she had been in a similar situation and although it would take some effort, she could get herself out.
The problem was Melvin. She couldn’t risk the young girl’s life.
Another problem arose. She had no food nor water in this land and she didn’t know how long Mel could last without taking anything.
“Baby, do you have anything to eat in your backpack?” Macy asked.
Mel had been carrying her school bag all along and she had not let it fall. And it was now that Macy noticed that the bag was still strapped to Melvin’s back.
“Yes. I have snacks and a bottle of water. Is auntie angry?” Melvin asked as she gave Macy the bag.
“No baby. Let’s save that for later,” Macy said as she thanked the heavens for all the favours.
“Okay. We will stay here tonight as we wait for daddy and if by morning he will still not be here yet, we will look for a way to get out. Okay?” Macy explained to the little girl.
Melvin nodded her head and Macy held her.
She had been so good and had not shed a tear and Macy was impressed.
“Are you afraid?” Macy asked and she felt the little head shake against her chest.
“I am not afraid. I know auntie will protect me,” Melvin said and all Macy could do was kiss the top of her head because she was emotional.
She felt tears streaming down her cheeks due to what Mel said.
“Thank you baby. I am going to do my best,” she said and then made the parachute to a bed and as she was about to lie on it and call Mel, they heard the roar of a helicopter above them.
Macy was surprised because just from the sound, she could tell that it was a military helicopter.
She took the parachute quickly and started waving it hoping that whoever was in it would see them.
A good thing was that the parachute had patches of luminous green and it was a colour that was visible from far.
As if by a miracle, the helicopter rounded them then started coming downwards towards them.
“Baby, we are saved. God has heard our wishes,” she said excitedly and headed Melvin against her side just in case.
Then a thought occurred to her: what if it was Casandra’s people again because they had seen where she had gone?
No. She couldn’t allow them to take them again.
She took out the pistol and hid it in the waist of her trousers together with the other one with her ready at any time.
“Baby. If anything happens, do what I tell you, okay?” She said and Melvin, being as obedient as she was, said a small yes as they both looked at the helicopter that was now hovering above them.
Ropes were released from the door and a man in military uniform started descending with the help of those who were still inside.
Macy stood on the ready with her hand on the pistol.
When the man landed, Macy sighed in relief as Melvin shouted, “daddy!” She screamed and Richard held her and hugged her.
“How are you?” Richard asked Macy as he held Melvin.
“We are okay. Thanks for coming quickly,” Macy added because she was relieved.
She didn’t want to imagine being lost in a quicksand jungle with Melvin. She didn’t have the heart to watch the little one slowly die due to lack of food or drinking water.
“Let’s go?” Richard asked and Macy was more than happy to.
“After you,” Richard said and Macy didn’t stand on ceremony.
She held onto the rope and it was easy because she was pulled up and then watched as Richard was pulled up while holding Melvin with one hand.
All the way back, they didn’t talk and Richard didn’t ask any questions.
She knew it was because Mel was with them and she also didn’t want to talk bad about Cassy before Melvin having in mind that she was still Melvin’s birth mom.
They went up to the Armstrong estate where the helicopter dropped them.
It was that day that Macy knew that the family had a small airstrip in their estate.
“My car,” Macy said.
“Someone will help bring it to you,” Richard said as they boarded the little vehicles that were used to flowery people all around the estate.
Richard didn’t like it but this time, he had enlisted Michael’s help to catch Casandra and all those who were behind it.
This was because he knew that Michael was ruthless and he wouldn’t allow anyone to escape and he needed May with Macy and Melvin.
It was after eating and tucking Mel in bed did Richard and Macy get a chance to speak.
Macy recounted everything that happened to Richard and he wasn’t surprised.
“I’ve already received a call from my people telling me that they have already apprehended her and her gang.
We are still trying to reach the person who was behind everything,” Richard said.
“From what I gathered from their conversation, her husband had looked for a client to buy human organs and they needed a child’s and the reason why they took Mel.
I’m guessing whoever it is has a sick child who needs body organs.
It’s also like they were working for a cartel because she had said mine would fetch her money too,” she said and Richard looked thoughtful.
He then took out his phone and called Michael, “Michael, try looking for those involved in human organ trafficking,” he listened and then…
“Yes…. Yes. If she doesn’t want to talk, use any means. Get her husband as well… Yes…
Don’t kill her.
She’s the mother of my child and I wasn’t to afford her the courtesy of doing it myself. Yes… Okay,” he finished and then hung up.
Macy now understood why this man always gave out a cold aura.
She hated to be Cassandra at that moment.
