“Did yours get lost?” Macy asked her as she followed the manger who was walking towards the cashier to swipe the card.
“Excuse me miss. Everyone holding the black platinum card is our VIP and I won’t allow any disrespect to any of our customers.
Please choose what you want to buy or walk out and let the others shop in peace,” the manager said and Macy was both smiling and crying from the inside.
Happy because she had put Angela at her place and crying because she had just used Richard’s card.
She had even forgotten about it until Angela mocked her and everyone had their pride. But what to do? The clothes belonged to him anyway.
Angela and her minions walked out in a humph and Macy knew that it won’t end well.
She didn’t want to put Melvin at a risk and she decided to go straight home and continue playing with the girl there.
“Baby, we will go back home and then we will do something fun there. Okay?” She asked and Mel nodded with a smile.
She had enjoyed herself and she was ready to go home.
“Auntie, daddy will be very happy when he sees the clothes we have bought for him.
Next time, we will get matching outfits. You, me and daddy,” Melvin said but Macy didn’t say anything.
Staying with them for a while was okay but getting matching outfits with that iceberg of a man was a no no.
She was a nobody in their lives and she wouldn’t go beyond where she was supposed to. She won’t pass boundaries she wasn’t supposed to.
When they walked out of the mall, a body guard took the bags they were crying and put them with the others in the trunk of the vehicle.
They then were ushered in the vehicle in the middle and she saw Angela and the other girls looking at them with open mouths.
Angela could not believe what she had seen. So, she left immediately to go and ‘report’ Macy to their father.
It was time Macy was asked to go back home.
Meanwhile, as all that was happening, Richard was on his way to Los Angeles to look for the Four Ninjas.
He wanted to know why they would target him.
He had noticed that his five years of inaction had made people in the underworld and mafia world think that he could be trifled with.
He was still Zeus.
Their god.
The last thing he would allow was disrespect on one of his own.
It was time he made a few examples to tigers who were still thinking that he had slept.
He arrived in LA to find that May had already taken care of everything as planned.
When the four dragons got the message that Zeus was looking to meet them because of an attack on his people, they were really worried.
Although in such a world everybody had their strengths and weaknesses, they knew that Zeus had more strengths than weaknesses.
This was because he was in cahoots even with government agencies. He had his men evrywhers sn anywhere.
Many mafia organisations knew that they all had spies from Zeus among their people but the problem was knowing who.
As such, all they could do was stay out of his way and all that was his.
But it seemed someone had forgotten.
When Richard walked into the office May had prepared in a basement in an office building in LA, he found her with three elderly men.
When they saw him walk in, they all stood up and bowed in respect.
“Greetings Zeus,” they said in unison.
“Sit,” Richard said as he took the seat May pulled out for him that was at the head of the table.
“Thank you,” they said as they stood up straight and took their seats.
“Where is Nagasiko?” Richard asked.
“Sorry Zeus but Nagasiko is very sick and has been admitted to the hospital. He has cancer and has been undergoing treatment but has to stay in hospital for now,” one of the men said and Richard looked at May.
She nodded and he continued.
“My question is simple, who ordered a hit on me?” He asked and the three looked baffled.
“Sir, Zeus, we would never dare take any job related to you.
We have tried investigating among our people and we didn’t find anything. All those who had been hired were killed and your subordinate here brought their heads with her.
No one else seems to know who it was that had ordered the hit on you.
But the mistake is on our side because we didn’t train our people well.
We are so obliged to take responsibility and we will take any punishment Zeus deems fit,” one of the elders said and Richard sat there quiet for a while.
“Okay. You may go,” he told them and they looked at each other with even more surprise on his face.
“Zeus?” Another one asked because they just couldn’t believe their luck.
“What? You want to be punished that much?” He asked them and at that, they scrambled out with words of gratitude.
“May?”
“Sir?”
“Don’t you think that the Four Ninjas are now old and can’t take care of their men and women?”
“I… I… Yes sir.”
“Take care of it. And return home quickly. I want you to continue protecting that girl.”
“On it sir,” May said with a smile and saluted.
Richard stood up, buttoned his suit jacket and walked out.
He won’t allow anyone who plays with his child to live.
Never.
After he was done with that, he decided to go to visit the woman he was working with at the cafe.
He wouldn’t say that he had missed her but she was one of the people who had treated him well when he was down.
He bought a jewellery gift for her and went to the cafe.
“Look who’s here. So, you remember the lowly us?” The elderly woman asked Richard as she looked him up and down.
“I will confess that you look much better in a suit and with that leg walking straight,” she said as she led him to a table and sat down to talk to him.
They sat there talking about this and that as Richard answered endless questions from her.
How Melvin was?
Was she better?
Was it you who brought the Parker family down?
Did you know that it was the talk of the town?
You did well leaving that viper. I never liked her for you.
She talked and talked and Richard could tell that she was happy to see him and he was too.
Finally, he gave her the bracelet he bought.
“Why? Why buy me a gift?” She asked emotionally as she took it and fitted it on her wrist.
“Just felt like wasting money on you,” Richard teased and she laughed.
“I didn’t know that Mr Michaels could crack a joke. Thank you my boy,” she said and they talked a little more and Richard left.
His next stop was to the elderly lady who was helping take care of Melvin when Richard was working.
Before going there, he passed by a grocery store and bought this and that. And because he didn’t want it to seem like he was paying her, he bought a coupon worth ten thousand shillings and carried it with him.
It was not that he was being generous although he felt grateful to these people.
As much as he wanted to visit them and thank them for when they were there for him when he needed them, he also wanted people to sew him.
He wanted people in LA to know that he was back. He wanted the Parker’s and the Williams to know that he had been spotted around.
This was because even though he didn’t have proof that it was them who were after Melvin, he suspected it.
He wanted to expose himself to give them a chance to attack if they had the guts.
From the report he was getting from his men, Cassy had become a full blown high end prostitute with the help of her husband who had become a drunkard and who still worked as an office worker.
If it was them who had ordered an attack on him, he wanted to know where or how they had gotten the money from.
He didn’t believe that he hadn’t washed their bank accounts clean. There was no way that he had left them money.
Thus, he wanted to know who it was who was behind everything.
He wasn’t worried though.
He had time and once he found out who was behind it, he would be merciful enough to give them a very slow, a very painful, a very memorable death.
He would make whoever it was regret targeting him.
Maybe they had never heard about Dragon who was even more ruthless than Zeus.
He was the leader of the Dragon Empire.
