Macy talked nonstop all through breakfast.
She told her after about all the places she has went to with her grandmother, her classes, and how she visited Macy.
She then narrated how they ran from those bad people and went to the air vent.
She described Macy as if she were describing a superhero.
It was a nice breakfast as as they were eating, Richard received a call from one of his men telling him that Cash was finally up.
Richard wanted to hear Cash’s side of the story. This was because Cash was among his best and he knew that for him to get hurt, there must have been an expert among the group. Richard wanted to know who this expert was so that he could give them a personal visit.
“Mel, will play with auntie for a while as I go to work for a bit?” Richard asked and Melvin was anything Hut happy.
It was like she didn’t like him anymore and all she wanted was Macy.
“Is it okay?” He asked Macy and Macy just smoked and nodded.
“It’s okay sir. Take your time,” she said as she took Macy upstairs to go and change.
“Macy,” Richard called her as she started going up the stairs, “I will add more men to your detail. They will stay out of your way and in case you see any of them, know that they are there for you.
You will be given their photos once the details have been finalised once May gets back,” he said and Macy stood there not knowing what to say.
“Mel, baby, can you wait for me in your bedroom. Choose the clothed you want to wear today and I will help you change. Okay?” Macy said and kissed her cheek and the girl went upstairs with a smile.
Macy then walked towards Richard and looked at him.
She breathed in and out to after courage for she was talking to a man she feared.
Richard had been nothing but good to her but he had this unapproachable aura around him and he gave her the creeps.
“Sir, with all due respect, I don’t need a detail protecting me. Can’t you do that please? I am okay with just May.
And talking of May, do you know her?” Macy remembered that Richard mentioned May and she asked.
“No. It is not up for debate. I have already decided it.
You know why? Right now, we don’t know whom those people were after.
I am not sure whether it was for you or for Mel. So, until we find out, we must do it my way.
Don’t forget that your sister has tried killing you several times and I can’t have that.
Also, I’m thinking of you moving out of that house where you live in. It is not safe for you.
So, today, I will ask Ash to arrange it and people will bring your things here.
You can use the bedroom next to Mel’s.
Welcome to the house.
If you need anything, don’t hesitate to ask me or Ash or May.
Here,”. i Richard produced a black card, “this is for your use. The PIN is 67oP. Buy anything you need or want,” Richard talked without giving her time to reply or talk and then he walked out.
Macy stood there flabbergasted and wondering how she found herself here.
“Oh, and by the way, don’t call me sir anymore, Richard is okay. You are my daughter’s beneficiary and that makes if almost family, isn’t it?” He asked and looked doubtful and then, again, opened the door and walked out without letting her speak.
She took her phone and dialled May but she was unreachable.
She wanted to get out of here but she wondered how.
She had already promised Richard to rake care of Mel and she could t just leave.
Security detail?
Moving to the Armstrong estate?
The platinum card in her hands?
How did she find herself here?
Macy couldn’t answer that question.
She wondered what Angela would say if she found out that Macy was living with the Armstrongs and she knew them personally from the old man.
She hadn’t really talked to them for long but she had gone there with Ash know to pick Melvin and the old Armstrongs seemed as a sweet couple.
Macy figured that if she was to move in with Richard, there were a pot of things she had to hide like what she was truly capable of and all.
But also, thinking about it, living here was much safer for her. It was better than that run down shack her management company had gotten for her.
She had also realised that since Julia was arrested and Angela was given another manager, she hadn’t been assigned another.
It was like she was a foreigner in her own company.
But she wasn’t complaining. She knew that after the movie she was shooting debuted, she would be able to sign with any company that was much much better than this one where her sister called the shots she was the star right now.
Macy pocketed the card and went upstairs to help Mel change.
Richard arrived at Sora Hospital withing minutes of driving his heavy machine there and he found Cash pepped on the bed taking his meds.
“Boss,” Cash began as he tried getting up to greet his boss properly.
“It’s okay,” Richard said as he beckoned him to remain on the bed and shed the formalities.
“How are you feeling?” Richard asked and Cash looked nervous.
“I am sorry boss. I almost got them killed because of my incompetency,” there was regret in Cash’s voice.
“Cash, we are all good but none of us is invincible. Remember I almost became a criple when my last mission before retirement?
So, don’t feel bad. You took a bullet and that makes me very grateful because you were protecting what was mine,” Richard said and Cash signed in relief.
He thought that his boss would blame him.
“So, how is the wound?” Richard asked again.
“I am well. Luckily, the bullet went through and through and according to the doctors, it missed any major organs by a whisker and almost got the spine.
It touched the liver but they told me that the removed the affected part and not to worry because the liver regenerates and by good luck, it was almost like a scratch and nothing major.
So….” Cash left the sentence hanging showing that he was okay.
“Good. All I want you to do now is rest. No work until the doctors announce you fit.
Maybe you have just been forced to rest. You never rest Cash and this recovery will do you good.
Just tell me where you would like to go and I will facilitate it. And if I hear you are working while I’m vacation, I will come there myself and whoop your ass,” Richard said and Cash smiled.
It was this Richard that Cash loved working for.
His best moment in the whole of his career was being assigned as Richard’s right hand man.
“Thank you boss,” He said simply because words lacked him.
“No need to thank me. We are family Cash.
So, who did it?” Richard asked.
He and Cash were birds of the same feather. They knew each and every criminal organisation in the USA and knew the who was who in the mafia world.
In fact, Cash knew more than him because he was the one who organised almost every job for his boss.
“What I am sure about is that they were the Four Ninjas people. But the one who shot me looked hired.
He had a military style and I slipped and that was why his bullet got me. I took him down though.
I haven’t talked to May to see whether she knows who he was,” Cash said and Richard nod his head.
May and Cash had given him the same report.
This meant that he had to visit LA. He had to find out why the Four Ninjas would target him. He let them work in America because they hadn’t done anything like they did.
Targeting him was a thing he wasn’t never going to tolerate.
He sat there thinking hard and Cash knew what his boss was thinking.
“Boss, you don’t have to go there yourself. You know May or I could handle them. Let us do it,” Cash said.
He wanted it to be him who went to milk for information from the Four Ninjas people about the one who shot him.
“It’s okay. Like I said I need you to get better.
Also, this is personal. They targeted me. They targeted my daughter and so, I have to have the courtesy of paying them a visit myself.
The five years I have kept a low profile have made people think that they can walk all over me. It was time I set records staring and I can only do that by doing it myself, don’t you think?” Richard told Cash and Cash lit a candle for those people.
He feared for them because he knew his boss well. He was brutal in all the senses of the word and also unforgiving.
If they had targeted him, he would have maybe let them go if he was in a good mood but targeting his daughter… That was something he couldn’t believe.
Cash had seen how Mel had made Richard kneel to the Parker’s while asking for hospital money. That showed how much he loved her.
“I have to go but I will be back later. Do you have a gun with you?” Richard asked him and Cash shook his head.
Richard produced a small one handed pistol and a pocket knife and left.
He had scored to settle.
