Chapter 45 Something Fishy

Book:The Ice Prince Published:2024-5-1

“No, Dean, I can’t help you this time,” Park says gloomily. “I was placed in mining post IV and Flynt is in post II, the distance between my place and Flynt is about 48 kilometers and the roads around here are difficult to travel. Besides, it’s really hard to get a signal at my place. I can only make calls when I’m on duty to the city like this and it can’t be long. I also read all of your messages after I arrived.”
Dean took a deep breath sadly. Kay squeezed his hand gently while looking at Mike.
“Could you call him again now, Park?” asked Dean desperately. “His phone hasn’t been on since that day.”
Dean had tried many times to contact Flynt, but his phone was always off. Flynt never contacted Dean at all, even hundreds of messages sent by Dean were also not read by him. He disappeared like the wind.
Dean is desperate and at Lamar’s suggestion, he enlists Park’s help in talking to Flynt. Unfortunately, Park’s apprenticeship is far apart from Flynt, as well as Max and they themselves are difficult to contact by their respective lovers because they are in the countryside and it is difficult to get a signal, except when they go to town.
“Hang up, Dean, let me try calling Flynt again. I’ll let you know later.”
Dean’s eyes were filled with tears. He put his head between his knees and shook and wept bitterly. “He hates me, Kay. He must really hate me,” Dean said between sobs.
Kay didn’t say anything, just hugged Dean tightly with teary eyes. Mike signaled that he would be out of the room for a moment. They were currently in Mike and Kay’s apartment which was closest to the hospital.
Mike called Lam. “Lam,” said Mike. “Have you spoken to Park?”
“About Dean?” Lam’s reply sounded heavy. “Flynt hasn’t been like this in a long time, since he’s been with Dean. He’s started to melt, at least to those he’s close to, but now he’s back in ice mode and resisting all approaches.”
“What should we do? I’m worried for Dean and Kay is almost sick too worrying about Dean.”
“What does Peter say about this?”
“He wanted to bump into the flirtatious nurse and force her to explain exactly what she said to Flynt that night that ended up like this. Pete is sure something the nurse said that made Flynt really angry. But Dean forbade it.”
“I’ll call Tom and ask him to investigate the nurse’s background. You say she’s the daughter of the hospital personnel director?”
“Yes. Her name is Tia Gaisland. She uses her father’s name because Kay heard that her parents have been divorced for a long time and she has lived in Singapore with her father for a long time. Her mother is the hospital personnel director.”
“Mike, why don’t we ask Trent for help with this?”
“You know what Dean was thinking, right?”
He heard Lamar take a deep breath. “Okay, I get it. Take care of Dean for now, and wait to hear from me or Tom.”
Mike came into the room and saw Dean lying on the sofa in the corner of the room. Kay put his hand to his lips as Mike entered the room. He covered Dean and led Mike out of the room.
“He must be tired after crying so much and not getting enough sleep for the past few days,” Kay said with concern.
“Kay, maybe we should tell Trent about this,” Mike said carefully. “He’s the hospital owner and Flynt’s older brother, right?”
“No, don’t. Dean doesn’t want this matter to be heard or found out by Trent. Actually, I think deep down in his subconscious, Dean feels guilty that Flynt said that he opened up an opportunity for Tia to go after him. Dean didn’t immediately reject her even though he already realized that Tia lobe him. One more thing, Dean doesn’t want a bad name for him, people will say he got an internship at a good hospital because he’s related to the owner. Also, for Trent that could be accusations of nepotism.”
“I see why,” Mike said thoughtfully. “The problem is, I don’t understand now, why didn’t Flynt try to solve this problem and instead let things drag on. It’s not like the Flynt I know.”
“It can’t be helped, he’s an ice prince, that’s all I know,” Kay snapped angrily.
“No. There’s something out of the ordinary here. Fishy, i think. Flynt is a cold and stiff person, but he loves Dean and I even tease him often as a slave to Dean’s love. Problems like this won’t let Flynt back down.”
There was a knock on Kay’s apartment door.
“Who’s that, coming at this time of night,” Mike muttered as he got up from the couch. “You waiting for someone, Babe? Peter?”
“No. Peter is on two round guard duty now.”
Mike opened the door and was stunned to see the person standing in front of him.
“Who’s that, Mike?” asked Kay from the living room. He approached Mike at the door and was stunned. “You ….”
“A-am I interrupting? I … need to talk to doctor K-Kay.”
“Why do you need to talk to my boyfriend?” Mike asked sharply.
Kay grabbed Mike’s hand. “Hey Babe, don’t be like that. Maybe Nurse Sheryn just wanted to say something about Nurse Tia. Is that right?”
Sheryn who was looking down under Mike’s intense gaze nodded slowly. “R-right, Doctor Kay.”
“Why are you looking for Doctor Kay? You can talk to Doctor Peter too. Didn’t I hear you like Doctor Peter?” asked Mike again. He hugged Kay’s shoulder possessively.
“I-I don’t dare. Doctor Peter was so mean to me after what happened in the cafeteria,” Sheryn replied with a bright red face. “I-I thought Dr Kay would be nicer to me.”
Kay laughed and patted Mike’s hand gently on his shoulder. “Come on, honey, don’t be so possessive. Come on, nurse Sheryn, come in and have a seat.”
Sheryn came in timidly as Mike kept staring at her intently.
Kay kissed Mike’s chin and whispered, “Stop it, Mike.”
Sheryn sat on one of the sofas in front of Mike and Kay. “Doctor Kay, it’s about nurse Tia. I were hesitant at first to say this, but I noticed something odd in her and doctor Dean. So I felt like I should tell someone about her.”
“What do you want to say?” asked Kay kindly.
“That nurse Tia….”
“That’s enough, nurse Sheryn, stop!”
Mike and Kay were shocked. Dean was standing in the doorway and his eyes were fixed on Nurse Sheryn.
