“Flynt, what is this?” Dean asked, handing him a piece of paper he’d found lying on the floor under the couch this morning. “You applied for an internship at Blue Oil?”
Flynt looked at the paper that Dean handed him, then looked at his lover. He nodded and took Dean’s hand, then led him to the sofa. “They just told me this afternoon, Dean. I’ve been accepted.”
Dean read the date on the paper in his hand. “It’s only been a week and you’ve received word this afternoon? Why … so soon?”
“Well, they said my grades were way above the standard they set, so they decided to call me straight away without a selection.”
Dean looked at Flynt with a gloomy face. “Why didn’t you ever say anything about this to me? I thought you’d only be applying for an internship at the end of this semester.”
“My supervising professor suggested that I apply for an internship sooner because he thinks my grades are adequate. I followed his advice while contemplating, not necessarily they will accept me. I didn’t know they would call me so soon.”
“I thought you’d take an internship at Umbrella corp, Flynt, so we wouldn’t have to be too far apart.”
“They offer a higher salary and a better career path, honey. I want to prepare everything for us to settle. The better the sooner, i think.”
Dean sighed and lowered his head. “But it’s in the middle of the ocean.”
Flynt lifted Dean’s chin with his index finger. “I was only away for three weeks, then a week off and that’s only for six months. You’re busy yourself right now, so this might be the best chance for us to concentrate on our respective jobs until we receive our real degrees.”
“We’ve never been apart that far and long. At least, even though we’re having a hard time spending time together these days, we still get to see and touch each other like this every day.”
Dean wasn’t the kind of guy to whine or spoil. He is a strong man and has fortitude, but the pressure of work and the need to be with Flynt, which has recently been greatly reduced, is stressing him out.
Flynt looked into his lover’s gloomy eyes. He touched the tip of Dean’s nose with a light peck. “We can text each other and make video calls every day.”
“It’s different from sleeping next to you every night, even though we don’t do anything. At least, I know you’re near me, even when I have to sleep in the hospital or you’re on campus, but there’s no ocean that separates us so far.”
Flynt knew Dean was stressed. The work pressure these days must be very heavy. He saw the same in Peter and Kay, and heard complaints from Mike and Wyland about their lovers being very busy and having a hard time being with them lately.
They all have the aspiring doctors are struggling with timing and achieving the best grades during their residency to earn their title as a real doctor, as a lover.
The dark hollows under Dean’s eyes showed how little rest he was getting and that must have affected his mood.
“Are you tired?” asked Flynt softly. He stroked Dean’s cheek, which was now a little thin. “You didn’t go to the hospital today?”
“I’m exchanging my schedule with Kay this afternoon. He has to accompany Mike to buy a present for his mother whose birthday is today and it will be celebrated tonight. He’s been fighting with Mike a lot because they haven’t been together lately, so Kay is worried that Mike will leave him if today he can’t be there for his mother’s birthday.”
“Hey, that’s impossible,” said Flynt. “Mike is my junior. He may have been a playboy, before being with Kay, but he has an enormous loyalty to whatever he loves. I’d be the one to beat him up if he left Kay just for the sake of time.”
Dean laughed softly. He knew how Kay and Peter felt, because he felt the same way. They are worry that their lover will lose interest in them because they doesn’t have as much time as when they just started dating.
Dean thought, maybe he was luckier because Flynt was also busy with his final years so they could understand each other, while for Peter and Kay, their lover were one years younger and hadn’t started to feel the pressure of final year where final assignments and internships, as enemies that must be served properly in order to receive a graduation certificate.
“I’m sorry,” Dean muttered. “You must think I like to complain. You must be lonely when I spend too much time in the hospital, right?”
“Hey, this has absolutely nothing to do with that, Baby. I really wanted to try an internship at that company, as experience and add references before actually working after graduation. They are the biggest oil company in our country and their recommendations will be a plus when I apply for a job at another company in the future. I’m a doctor’s lover and I don’t want people to think I’m just living my life with my rich lover as a sugar baby. I can make money, too, Baby. I can be your sugar daddy, too.”
Dean laughed and lightly smacked Flynt’s arm. “Stupid!”
“So, you’ll be home until this afternoon?”
“Hm. I’ll cook lunch today and maybe prepare dinner for you too. Aren’t you going to college?”
“There’s a meeting with the final project supervisor at two o’clock and before that, I’ve already got a place at the half-day seminar at the expo center. They’ll start around–” Flynt looked at his watch. “–ten more minutes.”
“Oh, Flynt, that’s why your phone has been blinking ever since. It must have been fantastic four calling you.”
Flynt laughed. He took his phone and wrote something on the messaging app then turned off the phone.
“You want to go now?” asked Dean. “They must have been waiting for you.”
“I’m not feeling well,” Flynt replied. “I’ve asked them to fill out the attendance list for me and asked my supervisor for permission to postpone the tutoring time tomorrow because today I have to see a doctor.”
Dean got worried. He touched Flynt’s forehead with his right palm and touched his own forehead with his left, making comparisons.
“You don’t have a fever. How are you feeling, Babe? Does your throat hurt? Are you dizzy? Why didn’t you tell me you weren’t feeling well?”
Flynt grabbed Dean’s waist and pulled him onto his lap. He kissed Dean’s collarbone, which was exposed by his loose shirt. “I’m fine, just wanted to see a doctor.”
“Huh? What doctor? Who?” Dean asked confused and a little irritated.
“You, of course. In this world there is only one doctor I want to see all the time.”
Flynt grabbed the back of Dean’s neck and kissed him softly on the lips. “I missed you,” Flynt whispered, kissing Dean’s wet lips.
Dean’s eyes filled with tears and he nibbles on Flynt’s lower lip lightly. “I more than miss you, Flynt.”
They kissed, enjoying every second of their intimate company. Flynt’s hand went under Dean’s shirt and he touched the warm soft skin.
Dean sighed in his mouth as Flynt’s hand touched his nipple “F-Flynt … aah ….”
“Hmm?” Flynt’s index finger and thumb circle the soft nipple of his lover. He turned the kiss to Dean’s neck.
“About your internship plan ….”
