“Emily, wake up,” a soft voice calls her.
She stirs up and opens her eyes slowly but Stefan’s wicked eyes flash before her, she jumps up but is held back by someone.
“Emily, calm down. It’s me, Regina.”
“What’s going on? what am I doing here?” Emily cries.
Regina holds her tight, “Relax, it was just a nightmare. It’s your wedding day, Emily, you’re getting married to Louis.”
“Wedding day?”
Then Emily recalls that everything has been resolved and peace has been restored to the pack. She sighs in relief and relaxes her nerves.
“Another episode?” Regina asks.
“Do not tell anyone about it, Regina. I will find a way to make it go away,” Emily begs.
Regina sighs, she is the only one who knows that Emily is traumatized by what happened to her. They’ve grown so close together ever since Emily returned from the war, but Emily has not been herself since. She has managed to hide it from everyone around her and it is deteriorating her mental health.
“Emily, we agreed to find a solution to this if not, Louis has to know about it.”
“No, no one can know about this. Everyone is suddenly so happy that there is peace now, bringing up the past will only make them feel bitter and worry about me. I want them to be happy forever.”
Regina sighs, accepting what Emily says.
“Very well then, I’m going to call in the servants to get you ready for your big day,” Regina says before leaving.
Emily nods in response, and her hands go round her belly. She can feel the warmth of the baby inside of her, she hasn’t told Louis yet about the baby. She is more worried about the nightmares that hunt her, giving her sleepless nights and cold sweats. She wonders if it will ever end, it will not be safe for the baby if her mental health is not in order.
The servants come in and begin to help her with the preparations, Regina is keeping a close eye on her in case she gets her episodes back. The preparation goes on without any episodes, Conrad comes in later to have a private talk with Emily.
“You look great,” he compliments her.
“Yes, thank you. Conrad, I know that we have a lot of things to say especially due to the way things turned out between us. Let’s just say it here,” Emily says.
“I’m just happy for you. Honestly, it turned out that Freya was my mate all along but she chose the wrong person to take sides with.”
“And it cost her life, I’m sorry for your loss.”
Conrad sighs, takes her hands, and kisses the back of her palms softly, “I wish you good luck and all the best in your marriage.”
“Thank you.”
Emily prepares to walk down the aisle, Louis is standing at the altar with his magnificent eyes on hers. She never expected them to end up together or for their problems to come to an end, but she wished that it would last forever.
Somehow, Emily felt that her nightmares would come true, that something bad would occur in the future that might shatter them completely. As the wedding procession goes on, she shakes off every vague thought in her mind.
Embracing the moment is the perfect option for her, accepting who she is now. The Luna of the Crescent Moon pack and wide of Alpha Louis Clayton, she was destined to be his soulmate ever since. And to make things even, the seed of his successor is germinating in the womb.
Louis and Emily lay together in their room, it is the night of their honeymoon and the romantic setting of the room shows it. Louis pulls her closer to him, inhaling her scent deeply. It refreshes his mind and he places a gentle kiss on her forehead.
“You know how much I’ve missed you and everything about us, I was scared back then…”
“Louis I’m back now, I’m not going anywhere, I am with you,” Emily interrupts him sharply.
She did not want to go back to the past, scared that her fears might come true if she did. She rubs his skin gently.
“I know and I’m grateful for that, Emily.”
“Louis, there’s something I want to tell you.”
He sits her up and looks intently at her, “Feel free to talk to me.”
“I am with child, Louis, we’re going to have a baby soon.”
Tears well up in his eyes, after what happened to Katherine and their baby, he had lost hope. Emily has given him a reason to remove his guilt again, he hugs her tightly.
“Thank you for being the best, I promise to do everything in my power to keep the both of you safe.”
Emily contemplates telling him about her mental health but shakes the idea off, she will work on it herself and make sure she deals with it without involving anyone else.
Louis buried his face in her neck, relieved that everything was okay now. He is complete now with a family that loves and cherishes him, he is ready to do anything for them without regrets.
MONTHS LATER
In a dark corner, a loud groan is heard. The fire ablaze in the chimney burns brighter, warming the room in the cold night. A woman screams as her contraction begins, she is giving birth to a child alone.
The pains of labor are what she did not expect, it is her first time and experience in this aspect. She is good at killing and taking lives but making one seems to be a complicated task.
The baby’s head slowly comes out, she uses her hands to hold it while she pushes hard for its body to come out completely. The shrill cry of his tiny voice relieves her, she uses the knife beside her to cut the chord that joins them together.
“Daniel, you’re name will be Daniel,” she says softly.
Her eyes blink and a tear drops down to her scarred face which is wrinkled like that of an old woman.
