Conrad stands sadly in front of the pack, looking eagerly at the narrow path that Emily had taken on her way out. He regrets his actions, he should have protected her instead of turning his back on her. He believes that Emily is innocent, she’s not capable of doing such things to someone but how is he going to prove it with the evidence that was shown?
His heart ached as he thought about it more. He had struggled to make Emily look at him and even be his partner, at the moment that he was successful, their precious time was cut short. Conrad couldn’t create those memories he had envisioned to share with her, now she was gone and he was utterly alone and shattered.
He feels a presence behind him, thinking that it’s Emily, he turns swiftly to look at the intruding figure. He is disappointed to see Freya in front of him, what is she doing here now?
“I heard what happened to Emily, your girlfriend,” Freya begins with. She tries hard to contain her excitement about the news.
When Sarah came to deliver the good news to her, Freya danced crazily. With Emily out of the way, Conrad will look at her and even love her. Without hesitation, she raced down here to confess her love for Conrad and accept his love for her too.
Conrad looks at Freya in the most disgusting manner his facial expression could allow, she is the last person he expected to show up to his face. He remembered how she had once driven him crazy, the way she had caused his thoughts to be messed up. But right now, he felt nothing instead, all his energy was drained from constantly thinking about Emily.
“Are you happy now?” he retorts rudely.
Freya smiles sweetly, “I never said I was happy but come to think of it, she almost killed Regina. I must say that she deserved her punishment.”
“And who gave you, a mere pack warrior, the audacity to speak to me in this manner?”
Freya looks nervously at Conrad, Sarah had warned her about how she would talk to him. Maybe she should change the topic and go straight to the point.
“Regardless of what happened, I believe that Alpha Jax has dispensed justice in his capacity. I came here to discuss something important with you.”
“Go on, I’m listening.”
Freya takes a deep breath in, lets it out slowly, and reassures herself that Conrad will eventually accept her tonight.
“Conrad, I know that I’m a mere pack warrior with no rank or status. But I can’t hold in my feelings any longer, I love you. I’ve always loved you since the first day our eyes locked at the training ground, you’ve always pushed me aside but I didn’t mind. I promised to wait for you and confess at the right time.”
Conrad bursts into laughter, “What makes you think that this is the right time? Emily was just exiled from the pack, the love of my life broke my heart today and you think that will make me love you?”
Freya is disappointed to hear Conrad say this, “I know that you were engrossed with Emily and your relationship with her, you did not notice the most vital chemistry between you and me.”
“Chemistry? What chemistry are you talking about?”
“We are fated mates, Conrad. That’s why you feel like we are connected, the mate bond is not strong because you have feelings for another woman,” Freya announces.
Conrad wonders if he should cry or laugh. What Freya said sounded hilarious to him until he saw how serious she was about it.
“Wait, you’re being serious?”
“Yes, and now that Emily is out of the picture, we can do this the right way.”
Conrad becomes infuriated, he grabs Freya’s neck and attempts to choke her. Freya struggles to breathe and at the same time, get away from him.
“Listen attentively to me, Freya. If I ever find out that you’re the one behind Emily’s frame, I swear I’ll kill you. Stay away from me and I reject you as my mate.”
He releases her neck and she falls to the ground, the last thing he said shattered her heart.
“You’re rejecting me?”
“Emily is the woman I want, no matter what she is being accused of. I reject you as my mate, Freya.”
Tears rolled down her cheeks, she did not need to accept or reject his rejection. She has no other choice but to, the mate bond between them has been destroyed completely. All her efforts have failed, Emily wasn’t the problem at all. She was supposed to change his mind about her first, her impression had been poor from the moment she met him.
“It’s over, Conrad. What have you done?” Freya cries, the pains of rejection hitting her hard.
“I should have done this a long time ago if I had known that we are mates. Stay away from me, Freya, I’ll hunt you if I find out anything nasty about you.”
Freya scrambles out of his presence, she has lost the battle. Even after getting rid of Emily, the ball was still not in her court. She is doomed to be wretched, Sarah is surprised to see Freya’s swollen face as she enters the room.
“What happened, Freya?”
“Conrad rejected me, he said that he’ll hunt me down and kill me if he finds out that I’m involved with Emily’s accusation.”
“That is absolute nonsense, Emily was the thorn in our flesh and now that we’ve gotten rid of her, Conrad is supposed to accept you,” Sarah says, baffled at the outcome of things.
“Emily was never the problem, Sarah. We’ve only wasted our efforts in ruining someone that had nothing to do with our problems,” Freya admits.
“Listen to me, Emily was eliminated for a reason. I wouldn’t have framed her if she wasn’t a threat to us, Conrad will get back to his senses soon, just give him time.”
“My life is already ruined, Sarah!”
“Nothing is a ruin. The competition will be repeated tomorrow and I’ll emerge the winner, our lives will change afterward and Conrad will realize that you’re worthy to be with him once he sees your high rank,” Sarah assures Freya.
“Is that so?”
“Yes, just be patient. I’ll figure out a way to fix this.”
Sarah embraces Freya tightly, she must fight to win this competition and change their lives for the better. Nothing can come between her and getting the position of Luna.
