The second task is being handled by Conrad. Now that some of the candidates are aware that their reasons here are not for jokes, everyone is prepared for the next task. As soon as they heard that Conrad would be handling the second task, everyone dressed themselves in training outfits. It’s likely that they will fight each other or something like that.
Sarah once again, is annoyed that her opponents are now fully aware of how to handle the situations all by themselves. It would be hard for her to outsmart them and be the winner but an evil smile creeps on her lips, there are other ways to outsmart her opponents. Sarah relaxes her knuckles, knowing fully well about what is going to happen and how to control it to her benefit.
Everyone is silenced when the Beta of Moon Bearers pack shows up in his tight jersey for exercise, some of the ladies look at him lustfully and wink flirtatiously at him. Although Conrad is not surprised by their despicable behavior, a lot of them will go to any extent to win the competition. Conrad assures himself that none of them will make it to the finals and talks more about winning the competition.
“Good morning, ladies,” Conrad greets them, ignoring the silly ones amongst them.
“Good morning, Beta Conrad.”
“So this beautiful morning ladies, you’ll be fighting a duel and the winners of each duel will be eliminated while the losers will be evicted. This will be leaving us with four candidates at the end of the day, agreed?”
“Yes, Beta!”
“Okay here’s your pairing; Number one and number three, number four and number five, number six and number nine, number seven and number ten.”
The ladies position themselves seriously as they wait for their turn to reach, number one, and number three go to the ring and steady themselves. The moment Conrad blows the whistle, the two ladies yell and attack each other, pulling and tugging at their hair like crazy monkeys.
At this point, Jax and Emily come to the training ground to watch the duel that’s going on. Jax is feeling a bit withdrawn about the competition now, his mind is screaming at him that this is a terrible mistake to make. He still has Iris in his mind, everything is just becoming too complicated for him to bear.
“Jax, are you okay?” Emily asks him as she notices his moody face.
“I’m fine,” he lies. He did not want his cousin to be aware of what was going on with him, she might remind him that she was solely against this idea in the first place.
The first duel ends and the ladies take a break, Emily watches them keenly. However, the only person who seems odd to her is Sarah. Emily did not like her at all, Sarah had that intimidating aura which she did not use for a good purpose. Emily just wishes that Sarah would just fail and be eliminated from the competition but it seems like Sarah knows about how the competition is going to be from the beginning till the end.
“Jax, I feel like something is odd with Sarah. It just feels weird that she’s so immersed in winning this competition,” Emily tells Jax, hoping to get his attention and probably kick Sarah out.
Jax, who is absent-minded simply nods his head, “She wants to be my bride my bride. I find nothing wrong with it, after all, I qualified everyone for the competition as long as they are eligible.”
“But Sarah is already a member of your council, this will give her the upper hand because she is aware of what the competition is like. Is that not also known as cheating?”
“Emily, can we just stop? Look, I have a lot of things on my mind and the last thing I want to think about is this bride competition. If Sarah wants to win this competition, so be it,” Jax says harshly to her.
Emily squirms in her position, she’s surprised to see Jax acting like this. His face looked guilty for scolding her but Jax knew that he couldn’t help it, he needed to transfer his aggression to someone and it turned out to be Emily.
“I’m sorry for being concerned about you, Jax. Maybe you think that we all are not making an effort to make sure that things end well for you, but you’re wrong. You want to marry any bride that wins, that’s your choice,” she retorts before storming off.
Jax ruffles his hair in anger, how was he going to apologize to her for his rude behavior? Iris has filled his mind with wild images of intense lovemaking and eloping with her, creating a family in the middle of nowhere, and living in happiness. What was Iris doing to him?
The competition continues after all and at the end, four candidates emerge as winners in their duels. Sarah, Bella, Maya, and Regina did not want to win.
Regina had planned on losing the duel so she could spend precious time with Nox but it seemed like there was going to be an extension. Nox will be mad at her for this, she has no other option than to sit and for the next level.
Sarah on the other hand, secretly goes to visit Freya again. She brought food and water for Freya to fill herself with, Freya was not so happy to see Sarah in there for the second time.
“You shouldn’t be here, Sarah, it’s too dangerous for you,” Freya says.
“I brought some food for you. I’m worried that you’re eating well and might fall sick because of it,” Sarah replies hastily as she unpacks the food.
“I have no appetite to eat,” Freya acts like a stubborn head.
“Listen to me, the finale of the competition is fast approaching and I’m certain that I’ll win. A better life is waiting for us, Freya, we just have to grab it.”
“What about Emily?”
“I will deal with her, she’s a big threat that I’m trying so hard to remove. Emily’s downfall will be announced soon.”
