“We need to talk!” Katherine yells as she storms into his office.
Louis sighs, he is not expecting her to be in his office. He picks a pen and pretends to be busy with some files just to save him from the stress of listening to her.
“You’ve been searching for Emily, your ex-girlfriend,” Katherine says.
His attention is caught and he looks up swiftly at her.
“Were you eavesdropping on my conversation?”
“I was passing by and happened to overhear you and Williams. Is this why you’ve been acting strange lately?”
“Do you want to act like eavesdropping on my conversation is not a crime that deserves to be punished?” Louis asks in a threatening voice.
Katherine rolls her eyes, “I am your Luna. You can’t punish me, you owe me an explanation for what I just heard.”
Louis clenched his fists, and Katherine was slowly overstepping her bounds.
“You want an explanation, right? Fine, I’ll give you one. I’m still in love with Emily and I want her back, that’s why I’m searching for her!”
Katherine’s eyes darken, “And what about me, baby?”
“We will separate and go our ways. You don’t deserve to be the Luna of my pack.”
“I will never accept this,” she says and leaves.
Louis is annoyed by her challenge, she wants to disobey him and fight to save their marriage. He will see how it’s going to work out for her. A few minutes later, a servant walks in with her head down.
“Alpha Louis, your parents want to see you in the living room.”
He follows the servant out. In the living room, his parents are waiting for him with Katherine by their side. Louis understands immediately why he is called.
“Son, is it true?” Mr Clayton asks.
“You can’t just call me and ask if it’s true without telling me what the story is about,” Louis reminds him.
“Katherine told us about the conversation she overheard earlier…”
” First of all, I’m going to punish Katherine for overstepping her boundaries and for eavesdropping in my conversation,” Louis interrupts his father.
“Punish her? Louis, she is your Luna. How will your people feel when they hear about this?” Mrs. Clayton scolds him.
“They will be elated to find that I’m punishing the overrated Luna, she does not even deserve that title.”
“Why? Is it because you are still in love with that blonde girl?” his mother snorts.
“That blonde girl is Emily and yes, I’m still in love with her. I regret ever listening to you that night…”
**flashback**
Louis sat in his room with his head in his hands, his head was pounding with rage and thoughts that were unimaginable. Why did the moon goddess choose this fate for him?
“Son…” his father called him.
He raised his head to look at his father and his mother standing beside him.
“I don’t know what to do anymore. I’m stuck between two women and I’m so confused about how to handle this,” Louis cried out.
His father placed a gentle palm on his shoulder, “You should get married to your fated mate. That is the only way to solve this problem.”
“What?”
“Yes, Louis. Marrying Katherine will bring a strong bond between you two and the pack will wax stronger,” his mother added.
“But what about Emily?” he sobbed, “Tonight is our wedding and her coronation.”
“Forget about Emily,” his mother hissed, “Focus on the benefits of marrying a woman like Katherine.”
**flashback ends**
Mr and Mrs Clayton shift uncomfortably in their seats. They don’t even understand why their son is remembering what happened months ago or why he is regretting it.
“Stop searching for Emily. As the Alpha, you must learn to deal with the consequences of your actions instead of being paranoid,” Mrs. Clayton says.
Louis scoffs, “I’m not going to listen to you anymore. Your advice led to this and now I’m going to find a way to fix this, even if it means bringing Emily back.”
“I’m never giving up on our marriage, Louis!” Katherine cries out.
“I’m not asking for your opinion, it is a command that must be obeyed once the time comes.”
Louis storms off in anger. His mind is finally made up. Since his parents think that he is a fool, he will show them the true value of having a woman like Emily as his Luna. This is what he should have done back then instead of rejecting her and choosing Katherine.
Katherine follows him behind, she is mad that he is not listening to his parents this time around. Maybe it is time for her to take the matter into her own hands and deal with the situation at hand. Louis will stop his madness once he finds out that Emily is dead, all she has to do is to take action once Emily is found.
“Stop following, Kath!” he scolds at her.
“Stop acting like a child, baby,” she says angrily.
Louis sighs, “Whatever I’m doing is for the good of my pack.”
“And you are comfortable with breaking my heart just like you did to Emily. Have you taken your time to think about what she thinks of you after all you did to her? She’s never going to come back to you with an open heart, get that into your brain!”
Louis chuckles, he is aware that Emily will hate him even more than his enemies. But he doesn’t mind that, he will chase her until she agrees to come back to him. What he is waiting for is the time to come and that time is when he finds her, he will do whatever it takes to bring her back.
Now, he is determined to love her endlessly without faltering. He is determined to prove to her that she means a lot to him. As they enter their room, his eyes see a white envelope on the table.
He quickly opens it and sees the seal of Moon Bearers pack on the paper – it is an invitation card to the mask festival.
“Isn’t this Jax’s pack… Emily’s cousin?” Katherine asks.
“Yes, it’s him,” Louis responds with a smile on his lips.
