Chapter 56.
A costly mistake?
Megan POV.
Jane seemed bothered about my post more than I am. I wondered why she seems pissed when she was part of whoever coerced me into doing this.
“Why are you acting like you did not have an idea of this before now?” I voiced my thoughts.
Jane adjusted on her seat and went mum for some time, then she replied.
“I know that I was a part of this, but whatever you put out there was one of the most disastrous pieces I have seen my whole life.” Jane explained but I was not having it.
Disastrous! I never thought of that before I let that piece out. I have always known Jane as a perfectionist, but I think this is just out of place or maybe she wants to bring in a little drama.
“What do you mean by that? That beautiful piece that you complain of was put together by Lily.” I told her.
Janes breathe hitched and she halted the confrontation for a while, then she put her phone in my face.
“Look at this!” Jane instructed as she looked frustrated from everything going back and forth with me.
“This does not look like something Lily can do, please… she is better off than this.” Jane kept on talking as I fixated my eyes on her phone, wondering how this turned out to be what I asked Lily to do.
I raised my head up slowly with disappointed mixed with embarrassment, then I locked eyes with Jane.
“I never knew you were talking about this… in fact… in fact I know nothing about all of this and how we got here.” Agreeing with Jane was truly a hard pill to swallow because I thought she was wrong the entire time.
The caption over the announcement I made was the messiest I have ever come across and in Jane’s words, it is truly nasty.
“What came over her? This was not what we planned on.” I voiced out loud.
“With this, I think I am done with my job here since you realize your mistake now, so now over to Lily.” Jane said as she walked briskly out of the office.
“My goodness!” I said rubbing my head.
“I am about to deal with the worst damages ever.” I told myself.
“Lily, I need to see you now.” I instructed her over the phone.
“We need to talk!” I made known to her and hung up.
Lily rushed into the office like someone who had something strong.
“Oh, my goodness!” Lily sighed and took her seat.
“You look like… like you are tipsy!” I pointed out to her.
“That is not my business, but this is your business!” Handed over the phone to her and I could read shock all over her face.
“How could you do this to me?” I inquired of her.
“Now I have a lot to tell the whole world and answer questions I know nothing about.” Lily had her hand over her mouth feigning surprise to what she had knowledge of.
“Oh please! Do not give me that look!” I told her.
“It never occurred to me that this was it… I am sorry for this…” She apologized as I cut her short.
“Who was supposed to get that? Your new boyfriend that I know nothing about?” Lily looked on like a kitten who got beaten by rain.
“You need to speak you and find ways we will be fixing because it is going to be solely your responsibility!” I said.
“Now, I know that Chris knows of this, reason he came to my office earlier than he should.” I said subconsciously and it caught Lily’s attention.
“What!” I yelled at her.
“Could that be the reason to why I saw him, walking around aimlessly?” Lily asked and she busted out laughing and teased.
“Oh… I feel like a terrible person, but then everyone around here needs to know that you cannot do anything like that.” Lily told me.
“Or can you?” Lily whispered drawing herself closer to me and laughed hysterically.
“Get out of here!” I screamed and threw a piece of paper across, and she whimper out of the room.
One last time and it will all be over. I am on my way to see Chris and explain things to him.
In regard to him, I feel like I am in big trouble because he never wanted this from the beginning. I hope he understands all u have got to tell him.
“Hi!” I whispered, I felt distraught seeing him in the most depressing state.
“This is not how I planned this to happen.” I began explaining to him.
“That was too obscene.” Chris said.
“I never paid attention to it when have spoken about it, but now I do not know what to say anymore. I pray that the ground should open up and… and…” Chris kept on complaining.
“No- no!” I stopped him immediately.
“Do not say that about yourself, you know that you never did any of that… so do I.” I explained succinctly.
“Let them believe whatever they want to.” I convinced him.
“I am only worried about you and what you think of this, and I am here to tell you that I didn’t make that mistake. Lily did.” Chris looked on and exclaimed like got a revelation.
“Exactly!” Chris blurted out loud.
“I knew you could never make such a mistake!” Chris affirmed.
“Thank you!” I appreciate him.
“Lily is working hard to fix that.” I explained.
I felt a surge of relief knowing that I ended up convincing Chris about the whole issue.
Now I can go back to bring productive for the day.
“Guess what?” Lily dashed into my y office casually smiling like she had just won a lottery.
“Do I have to tell you that,” I tried cautioning her about knocking when Lily shoved it off excitedly.
“Why are you so excited?” I inquired.
“You have a big match coming up with a bigger celebrity boxer.” Lily revealed happily.
“That is not your job to do… it’s Jane’s!” I rolled my eyes.
“Yeah… I know that.” Lily told me.
“But I should be letting you know first since, I am your very good friend.” Lily said grinning from ear to ear.
“What a gossip!” Jane rolled her eyes and she walked into the office as our attentions was drawn to her.
“Hmm!” I cleared my throat and stole a glance at Lily.
“I never asked you too, you gossip too much!” Jane repeated.
“I was supposed to be Happy for her, because she is about to be one of the most powerful and successful boxers in history.” Lily seemed to be the only mesmerized person in the room.
“Megan!” Jane called ignoring all of Lily’s shenanigans.
“This match would make you one of the wealthiest boxer’s alive!” I told her.
“Who is this person that I would be fighting with?” I inquired.
“Kayla!” She replied and my eyes widened with surprise.
