Chapter Ninety-Three
Alex’s Point of View:
“What is it?” Eleanor asked as she sat next to James.
Phone rings…
“I’m going to kill you, Frank! I swear to God if you touch the hair on her head…” I screamed angrily, picking up the call.
“You will do what? Harrington?” Victor smirked.
“I’ll rip your bloody head off.”
“You are hardly in a position to be making threats, son.”
“You scumbag! Where’s my wife?”
“I’ll call you back later when you calm down.”
“Don’t even think about hanging up that phone, Victor,” I exclaimed as he hung up.
“What did he say?” Eleanor asked.
“I’m going to kill him! I’m going to kill him and all that belongs to him!” I screamed.
“Alex, take a deep breath. This is exactly what he wants you to do. He wants you to see red, so you will run blindly into his trap.”
“What would you have me do then, Eleanor?”
“Just call the Arnolds and see what they say. Call Nick. You trust him, right? You know he’s using Fiona as bait. Alex, if you take this bait without a plan, then you are both as good as dead,” she advised, as I took in a deep breath and walked away.
A Few Minutes Later…
“You don’t have to come, bro,” I replied to Nick over the phone.
“I know, we don’t have to, but we want to,” he assured.
“Thanks. We are getting ready for take-off now and should be with you in about 14 hours.”
“But your jet is here in Spain.”
“It’s the jet police. Jonas is a bit helpful in times like this.”
“Tell you the truth bro, I’m looking forward to seeing you guys. My head is all over the place. I don’t know what’s wrong with me.”
“This isn’t just a job, Alex. This is your wife, you cannot function as the Hunter now, only as a husband.”
“Makes sense, I guess. Okay, I’ll see you when you get here,” I hung up, taking in a deep breath.
Charlie, bro, if you can hear me now, please help me get Fiona home safe. I don’t care if I die as long as she survives.
Eleanor’s Point of View:
James and I walked into the room I saw Elliot sitting with Alex and I rolled my eyes.
“Now look who decided to show up,” I glared at him.
“I had to drive, Eleanor. I didn’t get to catch a private jet like you guys,” he crossed his arms.
“You!” James screamed, pointing at Elliot.
“If you have hurt my mother in any way…” James fired.
“Relax, your mother is fine,” Elliot rolled his eyes.
Alex’s Point of View:
Phone rings…
“Hello!” I screamed while picking up the call.
“Are you calm now?”
“Just tell me what you want, Victor.”
“I want my money back.”
“Fine, done. As soon as you release Fiona, you get your money back.”
“You think it’s going to be that easy? You betrayed me, Alexander.”
“You killed my brother, my only family.”
“You’re right, I did, and now I’m going to kill your wife unless you do exactly as I say.”
“Just tell me what you want.”
“Your life for hers.”
“Deal!” I screamed.
“NO!” Eleanor screamed.
“Always the hero,” Victor sighed.
“Just send me the damn details, and Victor, if she’s hurt in any way, all bets are off.”
“Is that a threat, Alex?”
“No, that’s a promise, Victor.”
“See you soon,” he laughed, cutting the call.
“Have you lost your mind? Surely you can see this is a trap, he has no intention of releasing Fiona,” Eleanor fired.
“If he wants his money back, he will release her. Elliot, you don’t transfer anything until Fiona is safe,” I ordered.
“Got it,” he nodded as I left.
Later that night,
I stood in the bathroom staring into the mirror.
Eleanor’s right, this is a setup, but I’ve got no choice now.
Victor needs that money back; without it, his whole cartel would go up in flames, and he’s not that stupid.
Fiona’s safety is my top priority right now. The Arnolds will never get here on time, and I’m not willing to wait.
Damn! Why did I give you the choice to come with me or not?
I should have trusted my instincts and forced her to come at least until Victor was dead.
If anything happens to her, I’ll never forgive myself.
“What the hell is that?” I asked as I saw a glimpse of something in the sink.
I took it off. It was a pregnancy test tube which was written pregnant.
“Fiona’s pregnant?” Eleanor asked as she saw the test tube.
“It looks like it. History is repeating itself.”
“What?”
“He killed Charlie, his wife, and unborn child and now the same thing is going to happen again.”
“No. It’s not going to happen again. You are going to save your wife and your child, and I don’t want to hear any difference. You got that?” Eleanor ordered as I took a deep breath.
Phone rings…
“Frank!” I called out.
“I’m on my way,” I screamed.
“I need you alone.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll be all alone,” I cut the call angrily.
“Well?” Eleanor asked.
“Get me the keys to James’ car and Elliot to be on standby.”
“You are not seriously going alone.”
“Of course, I’m going alone and as soon as Fiona is out of there and safe, I’m going to kill him.”
“Are you crazy? He’s going to be surrounded.”
“I have to end this, Eleanor, and the only way is to kill him.”
“You know you won’t get out of there alive, Alex.”
“I know.”
On the road.
“So, am I transferring the money back to him or not?” Elliott asked as I drove to the address.
“No.”
“Damn, bro. You’re playing a dangerous game.”
“Elliot, neither me nor Victor are getting out of this alive. In an hour, I want you to follow me here. Fiona should be released by then, and I want you to get her to safety. Give her my half of the money and you take your cut.”
“Okay, bro. It was a pleasure working with you.”
“What’s the address?” Elliot asked.
“The abandoned subway station on the edge of the town.”
Phone offs…
“Elliot?” I called out, but they did not reply. The battery died. Did he get the address?
“Oh my God!” I hit the car angrily.
Elliot’s Point of View:
“Alex! Alex!” I called out as he didn’t speak again.
“He didn’t give us the address!” Eleanor screamed.
“How are we going to find him?” She added.
Alex’s Point of View:
I parked the car and entered the abandoned building.
“Alex, it’s been a while,” Victor stood in front of me.
“Not long enough, you scumbag. Where is my wife?” I asked angrily.
“Are you armed, Alex?”
“Why don’t you come over here and find out!” I glared as all the guys clicked their guns, pointing them at me.
“Robo, search him,” he commanded him as the guard searched him.
“Better safe than sorry, Alex,” Victor smiled.
“He is clean,” Robo reported, walking back to Victor.
“You walked in here unarmed. I’m impressed.”
“Enough with the chit-chat, Victor. Where’s Fiona?”
