Chapter Eighty-Eight
Uncle Victor’s POV:
“How did you let them see you?” I asked him.
“I disguised myself as a homeless person, but the security guard noticed,” Eric said.
“He tried to talk to me, but I got offended and it turned into a fight,” he narrated.
“The cops came, and they discovered that I was not homeless as I tried to look so they asked me never to come anywhere close to that place again,” he ended.
“Oh my God,” I said.
“Nitwits,” I roared.
“Get off my phone, you idiot,” I said as I hung up.
“These boys are just getting useless by the day,” I said angrily to myself.
“Bravo,” I told myself as I got an idea.
Later that night, I called for Thomas.
“Thomas,” I called out his name.
“Yes Uncle,” he said as he came running towards me.
“I need you to go job hunting tomorrow,” I told him.
“What? Why Uncle?” He asked me, looking confused.
“I just need you to prepare tomorrow. I would get you everything you need including your CV,” I told him.
“What kind of job is that, Uncle?” He asked.
“What if I do not have any experience or idea of the job?” He asked again.
“Do not worry,” I told him.
“It is not as difficult as you think,” I replied.
“By tomorrow, I will let you know what you will be doing,” I said.
“But…” He tried to say.
“Do not bother. I would be giving bonuses as time goes on,” I told him.
“And if you get the job tomorrow, I will give you something to spoil yourself with,” I told Thomas.
“Are you serious?” Thomas asked with his eyes wide in excitement.
“Yes,” I replied nodding.
“I am in, Uncle,” Thomas finally agreed.
“That’s my boy. Go and get ready for tomorrow,” I said as he went off.
Fiona’s POV:
“What if he is trying to lie to me?” These questions raced through my mind ever since I met Damian.
“Does he look like a sincere person?” I thought to myself.
“Fiona, you can do this alone,” I told myself.
“Do not get desperate,” I said.
“But I think I am going to keep the card,” I said again.
“Or should I flush it down the drain?” I asked myself.
“No, I am going to keep it,” I said as I tucked it into my bag once again.
“Bedtime, Fiona,” I said as I went to bed.
I got ready to go to work the next day, and I saw Thomas fully dressed.
“Thomas, you look different this morning,” I told him.
“Where are you off to?” I asked him.
“Why don’t you just compliment me?” He asked.
“Pardon my manners,” I apologized.
“You look stunning,” I said.
“Where are you off to?” I asked him again.
“I am off to work,” he told me proudly.
“Work?” I asked him confused.
“You have not told me anything about that,” I said.
“Besides, when did you get a job?” I questioned him.
“I am about to, but Uncle Victor assures me that I am certainly going to get the job,” he said smiling.
“Hm,” I sighed.
“That means we are going to be working in the same company,” I said as I patted him on the back.
“No, not Uncle Victor’s company,” Thomas corrected me.
“It is another one,” he said.
“But guess what? Uncle Victor says that I would be making a lot of money, and he would pay me extra bonuses,” Thomas told me happily.
“Extra bonuses?” I asked him.
“Yeah,” he answered, grinning from ear to ear.
“Why would he be paying you when you would be getting paid?” I queried.
“I do not know but Uncle Victor is certainly going to be doing it,” Thomas said.
“Okay. I wish you good luck brother,” I said as I walked away.
“But what job are you going to be doing?” I turned to ask him again.
“I do not know, but he says that it is a kind of job that I would be able to do,” Thomas said.
“He does not even know the manner of job that he would be doing?” I thought silently to myself.
“Uncle Victor is certainly up to something now but I would not let him rope my brother into his atrocities,” I said to myself as I walked away.
Thomas got home earlier than I did, but I saw him sitting with a strange-looking man.
“How was your first day at work, Thomas?” I asked him.
“It was okay. I did not do much actually,” Thomas told me.
“I am being treated like a king,” Thomas said happily.
“Oh really?” I said, faking a smile.
“Yeah,” he replied.
“Uncle Victor asked him to drive me to and from work and provide me with anything I need when I cannot reach me,” Thomas said.
“Aww,” I said.
“Uncle Victor is a kind person. I do not doubt what you say,” I said.
“So which role are you working with?” I asked him.
“And is the name of this beautiful company that is making you so happy?” I asked him.
“Uncle Victor asked them to take me in as an intern,” Thomas told me.
“And that is the name of the company,” Thomas said, pointing at the company’s name on a piece of paper.
“This name looks familiar,” I thought.
“Uncle Victor asked them to take me as an intern,” Thomas said.
“So that when I am done. I get to work in his company in a top role,” Thomas said, feeling so proud of himself.
“This is awesome,” I said.
“I cannot wait to work with you under the same roof,” I said feigning excitement.
“Me too, sister,” Thomas said.
“I need to go to my room immediately,” I told him.
“I am so tired, and I need to rest. See you in a bit, Thomas,” I said as I walked up to my room.
“Uncle Victor is up to a deceitful game and he is trying to use Thomas as the pawn,” I told myself as I walked up to my room.
I was trying to get my stuff out of the bag when I dropped a piece of paper.
“Oh, this same business card,” I said as I bent over to pick it up.
“This has the same logo as the one Thomas showed me,” I said, staring at the piece of paper.
