Chapter Sixty-One
James’ POV:
“Why would you take pride in being called a ‘ladies’ man’? Does that not sound like being a slave to you? By common sense, it means you are being controlled by not only one lady, but many. How would anyone like that?” she had asked.
Eleanor laughed so hard and loud that day. Never has my pride been this questioned and punctured. I was boiling inside and had quietly left the place before I would embarrass myself any further.
I dropped the name and pride that same day. I guess women have been too in love with me to tell me the truth or they were blind.
Fiona on the other hand did not fear me and had looked me in the eye when she said all those. I like to think that because of her words that day, I became a better man.
I had followed the strange guy from the concert home. I had noticed he followed us up close as we left until we dropped.
Fiona off. I watched him go home after seeing where Fiona lived. He lived not so far away from Fiona.
“What did he want with her?” was the question I did not have an answer to, but I will find out.
He lived in a small apartment and a very solitary location. This guy was indeed suspicious.
First, he would not keep his eyes off Fiona and then, he followed her home. What seemed to bother me the most was that Fiona seemed to like him. I have never seen her look at anyone like that like he impressed her.
“C’mon James, you know Fiona. She just would not throw herself at anyone,” I thought to myself.
Besides, he was very handsome. Any lady would glance at him once in a while. It did not have to mean anything.
“Whatever he wants, I am going to find out, I will protect her,” I promised as she could hear me.
Then, it dropped. I just remembered.
“Eleanor!” I exclaimed.
How could I forget that? How could I be so careless? Eleanor would be pissed as anything right now. Eleanor is a sweetheart, but you do not want to see or get her pissed. She would become a very different person when angry.
Molly’s POV
It has been 10 years, 10 years since we left. I missed it still. It was better to be here and bear whatever came than face shame at home.
Life here was not so bad after all, not like I thought before we first came here. I thought it would be very hard for us to adapt and be accepted here but it was not so.
Everyone went about his daily work, trying to survive and not bother about someone else’s headache. It was a great life, one of freedom, you could do anything here with no control.
I even got myself a black boyfriend. Do not get me wrong, I do not like to call someone out by their skin color but damn, it was one hell of a surprise for me.
I did not ever think that there could be so many different types of guys to choose from. Before this mission, I thought we were the only ones that existed and ruled the world.
A lot of my perspectives have changed since I got here, and I have learned to appreciate people as everyone is special in one way or another.
Tristan’s POV:
“Virtue is a lie, I must say,” I thought to myself this morning.
I just woke up to this bitter feeling this morning, I do not know why. All my life, all I have ever done I did for the kingdom.
When we had refused to go back for fear of shame, I thought I was free from that torture, the subtle torture of doing everything for Mr. Harrington.
I had gotten myself a job, I could speak a few languages, I could ride a bicycle, man, I even learned to swim. I did not regret my decision to stay back, it has been an exciting experience so far. Except for some very rude people, it was fun.
I got a job working as a bodyguard for some big politicians. “Body like yours should be put to work not flaunted,” he had said to me when he saw me. He was really in town, so I spent most days at home bored.
I am yet to find anything that excites me so much in this world. Here, they call it hobbies, things that you liked to do in your free time. Well, from where I come from, there was nothing like free time.
Here I was going back to the one thing I thought had ended, finding the rival. I thought I was done with that.
I got up very early to go watch her again today. What she did with the children was beautiful. I smiled when I saw the fear in her eyes when she saw that what she started had turned into a fight.
It was more fun when she ran off hurriedly, thinking no one saw her. If only she knew!
I kept on with her, following and watching at a distance, wondering what she was up to at this time of the day. She stopped at a mall and went inside.
It was too risky to go in, so I waited outside. I saw her come back out almost as quickly as she went in with a frown on her face. She seemed to be looking for someone.
“Did she not say she was here? Had she gotten so angry and left? But Eleanor would never do that,” I heard her say as she was trying to reach her on the phone.
“Eleanor must be the lady friend from the concert,” I thought.
Her name matches her personality well when I remembered what she had on the day of the concert.
Just then, some guy came from nowhere and wrapped his arms around her. She seemed surprised that she did not know him. I have learned over the years, that this was called sexual harassment, and you could be locked up for it.
“Mr. Stranger, I would politely tell you this for the last time, leave me alone,” she said giving him a threatening look.
“If only you would be a good girl, this would work out just fine. No need to get angry,” the guy had said to her.
With every passing moment, I could see she only got angrier and was trying very hard to control herself.
Just when I was about to step up and do something, some other guy showed up, and her other friend who seemed to be her boyfriend showed up.
“Hey! That is my woman you are touching there. I have two police officers over here; I just have to brief them on what’s happening. We both know we do not want that,” he raised his hand pretending to want to gesture to the cops.
The strange guy immediately let go of the rival and left with his head down. Only then did I turn to see that there were indeed no cops in sight.
