Theressa’s heart bled
She clutched her chest as Marcelo was being rolled inside the emergency room, her eyes red as she couldn’t stop the rush of emotions.
Theresssa stood outside the emergency room, her chest tight like her heart was caught in a vice grip, each beat echoing loudly in her ears, her eyes fixed on the swinging doors that separated her from Theressa, her gaze unwavering as tears spilled uncontrollably. Theressa’s hands were clenched into a fist at her sides, her knuckles turning white with the force of her grip. Every fiber of her screamed for her to rush inside, to be by Marcelo’s side. Her mind raised a thousand questions to which she could bring no answers to.
Theressa’s knee gave out on her as she fell to the ground, her heart falling to the ground along with her.
“It’s all my fault” Theressa muttered. Kayden had said no word as he brought Theressa up to her feet, guiding her to seat.
Theressa felt like screaming, the pain was a whole lot, she was running out of energy but the tears couldn’t stop spilling out.
“It’s all my fault” she kept saying
The peaceful grief was disturbed by a presence filled with resentment and violence.
“You murderer!” A loud deep voice reverberated through the hallways of the hospital as a man who seemed to be in his early sixties walked in, his foot stomping on the floor as he marched towards Theressa.
Upon his loudness Theressa had failed to notice him until she was forced to, he had brought Theressa to her feet, his hands tightly gripping her shirt as he forced Theressa to stand.
“What have you done to my daughter?” He spat.
It was at that moment she recalled the man, he was present at the dinner that day Theressa had gone over to Marcelo’s home in search for Marcelo.
Pillar’s father. Theressa swallowed, he looked like he was about to bring Theresssa to her demise, but that didn’t scare her, she was blinded by grief to be scared. However, realization dawned on her, the puzzle piece missing was found, the answer to her inner question.
Pillar tried to kill her but Marcelo…
Marcelo. Her heart broke again
“Who gave you the right to be here after all you have done, after all the ruin you have brought?” The man scolded.
“You bitch” his hands raised, ready to leave a resounding slap on Theressa’s cheek and Theressa made no move to stop it, Made no move to defend herself. To curse at Pillar’s father and curse at Pillar as she attempted murder, she had a hand in her own problems too. But he was right all she had brought to Marcelo has been nothing but ruin. She had caused all these, she was at fault and she wanted to send a knife through her heart, she needed a beating. The slap would do, but it never came.
Only for her to turn to see Kayden’s grip tightly around the man’s wrist, Pillar’s father glared at him.
“How dare you?!” Pillar’s father scolded
“Miss Taylor is an important staff at the company, he would be upset to find out his staff was assaulted by his soon to be in laws” Kayden stated, his stance not wavering as he forced Theressa out of the old man’s grip.
Pillar’s father had his jaw tightened, hating the fact Kayden was right.
He redrew his wrist forcefully from Kayden glaring at Theressa once more as he muttered “it’s not over yet” Even though Theressa’s gaze fell to the floor, Kayden had his gaze fixed on Pillar’s father as if threatening him, pushing him away from Theressa.
As he left Theressa fell back to the chair. Mary had arrived at the hospital to console her daughter and George had arrived almost the same time.
Minutes stretched into hours and Theressa was still spilling out tears from her eyes. George would pace around outside the emergency room, he had also tried comforting Theressa but he also wasn’t in good shape.
Their eyes were fixed on the doors that held the man they all seemed to care for.
And soon the doctor was out and Theressa forgot how to use her legs, George was the first to rush to the doctor while Kayden helped Theressa to her feet all curious about Marcelo, all eyes on the doctor, all muscles tensed as they waited for the doctor to speak.
“He’s stable now, though we would have to examine when he’s conscious, but he’s been transferred to his ward” the doctor proclaim a small smile on her lips before he walked away.
Theressa had never been this relieved before everyone seems to sigh loudly including Kayden but shows a little of his emotions. But Theressa-
The invisible bricks forced in her shoulders had been dropped relieving her but her chest remained tight as the
lingered and the tears did not cease.
“You all can go back to rest I’ll stay back with Marcelo” George stated. His tone laced with melancholy.
“I’ll stay” Theressa blurted, she could feel her mother tug at her shirt, clearly not in support of her daughter staying out late. But that’s what Theressa wanted, she wanted to be the first person Marcelo sees the minute he awakens, her mind won’t lay to rest if she returns home, she needed to be with Marcelo
George hesitated as if he wasn’t in agreement with the idea of letting Theressa stay but he eventually nodded in agreement.
“I’ll take your mum back then, Kayden watch over them” George stated as he began to walk away, Mary gave her daughter a hug before following suit.
Kayden and Theressa had made their way to Marcelo’s ward, while Kayden stood outside the room door, Theressa made her way inside.
Her heart shattered for the nth time as she saw Marcelo. His head bandaged round, other little bruises on his body and it was her fault.
She broke down, holding on to unconscious Marcelo hand “I’m sorry” She choked out
The night passed and Theressa sat beside Marcelo, her hands entangled with Marcelo. She had fallen asleep while she cried her eyes out, her body was weak, energy drained as she gave in to sleep. Theressa was so far gone with sleep that she didn’t feel a movement. Marcelo’s hand was out of her and he was no longer laid on the bed.
“Sir” Kayden muttered. He had gotten into the room to find Marcelo seated on the bed, his back resting on the hospital bed headboard.
Kayden’s voice had woken Theressa who’s eyes widened with excitement seeing Marcelo up. The joy was for a fleeting moment as Theressa noticed the cold look from Marcelo and she remember led her place, her gaze falling to the tiled failing to notice the expression on Kayden’s face
“And who are you?” Marcelo question led.
Theressa heart sunk at Marcelo question it sunk like a stone as the weight of realization settles upon her casting a shadow over her once bright landscape of her emotion.
Marcelo couldn’t recognize her.
Marcelo had forgotten about her existence.
