Darwin had just finished his work. Planning to take a lunch break, he heard his phone ringing. It was his girlfriend, Vivian, who was calling.
Without much thought, Darwin answered the call. After all, he was missing his beloved Vivian.
“Hello, sweetheart.”
“Darwin…,” called the woman from across the way. “Are you still busy?”
“No, just finished up and getting ready for lunch. Why?”
“Can you come to my apartment right now?”
“To your apartment? Aren’t you working? Besides, it’s kind of unusual,” Darwin wondered. Typically, if Vivian wanted to meet, she’d always invite him in the afternoon or evening. Rarely during midday like this.
“It’s nothing serious. I just miss you. Please, come see me,” Vivian pleaded, her voice sounding affectionate and tempting.
Darwin smiled in response. It didn’t matter to him if he had to visit Vivian right away. After all, his girlfriend’s request was something he needed to attend to promptly.
“Okay. Just wait for me. I’ll head over now. Have you eaten yet? Do you want me to bring some food?”
“No need. I’ll order online later. I just need you to come here right now. I can’t wait to see you, darling,” the woman whined.
“Sure thing. I’ll be there shortly.”
After confirming the call had ended, Darwin hurried to the parking lot and got into his car. He drove faster than usual to reach Vivian’s apartment. He was so focused on reaching there that he didn’t even realize someone was watching him, trailing behind wherever he went.
Upon arriving at the apartment unit, Vivian greeted Darwin warmly, led him inside, and had him sit down.
Before they could even speak, the alluring woman hugged him tightly. She didn’t hesitate to pull Darwin into a kiss.
“Hey… what’s gotten into you? You’re acting strangely,” Darwin said after they broke the kiss. He was puzzled by his girlfriend’s sudden increase in aggressiveness.
“Well, I told you I’ve been missing you a lot. Can’t you understand that?”
“Alright, we’re together now.”
“But just being together isn’t enough, Win. When are you going to divorce your wife? I’m tired of waiting all by myself,” the woman pouted.
“Be patient. It’s not something I can do right now.”
Of course, Darwin couldn’t possibly divorce or leave his wife Veronica at this moment. Moreover, the Infinix Group had just started to recover after facing a downturn. If he suddenly initiated a divorce, his company might falter again or even suffer worse consequences than before.
“But it’s taking so long, Win. I’m really eager to live with you.”
Just as Vivian was about to kiss Darwin again, the apartment doorbell rang. She felt puzzled for a moment, then stood up to answer the door. She hurried over and opened it.
However, as soon as the apartment door swung open, Vivian was startled to see Veronica standing there. What was even more unexpected, without a word, Darwin’s lawful wife slapped Vivian hard across the right cheek, causing the woman to scream in pain.
“Veronica!” Darwin exclaimed upon witnessing Veronica’s deliberate slap across Vivian’s face, causing his girlfriend to stumble backward. “What’s gotten into you?!” he shouted, standing in front of his wife.
“What’s gotten into me? What are you doing here? Did my previous warning mean nothing to you? Or do you want me to provide concrete evidence of your activities?”
“No need to threaten!” Darwin retorted with an annoyed look. “Besides, it’s none of your business what I’m doing here.”
Veronica smiled cynically. She grinned and spoke with sharp eyes.
“It seems like the two of you really need a lesson.”
“Whatever! I don’t care about your threats.”
This time, Veronica nodded. She stepped forward, still glaring at Darwin.
“Just go ahead and enjoy your time with your affair partner today. Don’t blame me if something happens between the two of you tomorrow.”
With a sense of anger, Veronica left Vivian’s apartment. As she walked down the corridor toward the lobby, she reached for her phone and dialed someone to carry out a task she assigned.
“You’ll see what I’m going to do, Win!”
