~Maya’s POV~
After I was searched and they didn’t find anything on me, the three women finally opened the door for me.
“Is this how you treat all your business acquaintances, Jacob?” I don’t care to fucking call him Mr. Martins. For all I care, he does everything like a man wearing panties on his skull. Stupid man. I reserve the title of Mr. only for people who have earned my respect. I flashed him a grin that did not reach my ear. I really don’t have the time. Thanks to my husband for always wearing a cold face in the outside world, I can cope with wearing one for this idiot in front of me.
“Well, you can’t blame me. You sent my daughter to jail after recording your conversation with her.”
“Fair enough.” I didn’t wait for him to ask me to take a seat. I helped myself. “I didn’t know you had company.”
“Well, I didn’t know you were coming. Mrs. Archer.”
“That makes sense,” I remarked. Looking closely at the old man, I am about to finish today.
“If you came to talk about my daughter, then we can talk about her now that you are here. Joseph is my daughter’s lawyer. Before you went in, he and I were in the middle of a conversation.” I gave him a kind grin.
“Well, it seems like the meeting wasn’t that important after all. I mean, you allowed me in when you were having a meeting.” I gave the attorney in question a friendly grin.
“Well, Mrs. Archer, I thought you were here to talk about my daughter.”
“I would love to talk about your daughter, but that is not the reason why I am here. Your daughter is in the past. I am here to talk about the shares you tried to buy illegally from my company. More along the line of stealing, fraud. If that makes sense.” His eyes became wide. He looked at his daughter’s lawyer.
“Joseph, you are dismissed. I will get in touch with you later on today.”
Fool, I am here to talk about your daughter. I just used that piece of information to get rid of your lawyer.
“Mr. Martins, I believe it will be to everyone’s advantage if I remain.” The Joseph person made the suggestion, but I’m pretty sure he’s not an idiot. He wouldn’t like his secret to be known right now. People like Jacob aren’t interested in doing things the proper way, despite the fact that the lawyer might have some suggestions for how to assist him. They think money can buy anything. I am just wondering how much money he has. I sat back as I watched the lawyer leave Jacob’s office. I gave the lawyer a devious smirk as I looked at the moron I am about to use to get rid of his own daughter. I am going to use him as a pawn. If Kelly wants to play mentally disturbed, I am also ready to play dirty.
“And what was it that you were saying, Mrs. Archer?”
“I was referring to the fact that you attempted to purchase Archer shares in an unethical manner by breaking into our system. If you would like to deny it, we can take it to court.” I observed as he moved back behind his desk in a very deliberate manner, clasped his hands together while staring intently at me, and then let out a very loud chuckle.
“You are not so stupid after all. I’m going to guess that you picked that up from your husband. I have been making covert efforts to acquire a minority stake in your company without being discovered but to no avail. How did you manage to catch me, seeing as how your husband never had any inkling that it was me?” I looked at the man. Only if he knew my husband, he wouldn’t even ask such a question.
“Well, Jacob, you see, my husband is a very noble man. It’s possible that he recognized who it was, but he chose to look the other way since you’re not a significant enough danger to our business for him to take action. My husband, Zion Archer, chooses to focus on disturbing and pressing matters rather than a few ants trying to get a big fish that they can’t even handle eating. If it’s not important, it doesn’t warrant our attention. This is something that my husband and I try to live by.”
“If I am not important, then why are you here?”
“I like you, Jacob. On to the meat of the matter.”
“I’m listening.”
“Well, lately your daughter has committed a lot of things.” After a moment’s hesitation, I observed him taking out his phone and making a call to his attorney. He was upset with me because I had lied to him earlier and said that the meeting wouldn’t be about his daughter. I used that to make him chase his lawyer, and now I have him where I want him. I gave him a sly grin and stared at him before saying, “If I were you, I wouldn’t do that, since this is still not about your daughter.” He looked at my face, which had become ice cold.
“How much do you want?”
“It is not a matter of how much money I demand; believe me when I say that you can never pay me even in your wildest dreams.
It’s more along the line of what do you want? As I was saying before, you disturbed me, your daughter, drugged my husband, and raped him with your help.”
“Lady archer, I did no such thing.”
“It’s okay. So my husband has been in the hospital for, let’s say, 4 months now because of what your daughter did. With your help.” I watched as he shook his head, “So, I just wanted to let you know that I am not here because of Kelly but because of your illegal activities. But then I had to let you know that I know you helped your daughter. As I was saying, we can reach a mutual agreement, and I will not sue Martin’s cooperation if you and your daughter tell me what you have injected my husband with. So it’s your company for my husband’s life. You tell me what you gave him, and I will overlook all the illegal activities that you have been plotting against my company. You have one hour to think. Alternately, I shall see to it that Martin’s cooperation is a thing of the past in the wink of an eye. It’s possible that my spouse has missed something important, but as you can see, Jacob, I am not my husband. I am Maya Archer, I do not overlook things. You know where to find me once you are done thinking. One hour, not less, not more.” I flashed him yet another grin as took my bag and left his office.
