~Maya’s POV~
I didn’t interrupt the woman in front of me as she went on and on about how I stole Zion from her. I just kept staring at her.
“Bitch, he was never yours! Archie was mine.” I swear I’m starting to hate the Archie name.
“I take it that you are in agreement that you drugged my husband, and that you abducted my daughter,” I said in a calm voice.
“Yes!”
Immediately she said ‘Yes’, I made sure to cut off everything before she changed her mind.
“I mean, no, you’re recording this, aren’t you?” I smiled. She came charging at me with the intention of slapping me, but I was quicker than she was. I grabbed her hand and turned it around before pinning her to the office desk. I got my face closer to her ear and leaned forward.
“I am knowledgeable about how to handle a raving lunatic such as yourself. You are in for a surprise if you believe that we have reached the end of our conversation. I will corner you in such a way that not even your family will be able to help you in getting out of it. I, Maya Zion Archer, am the only one who can help you.” As soon as I looked at her, a dawning comprehension swept over her. “Oh, and Kelly, you are not pregnant. Sorry to disappoint you. You just happened to have fallen for my trap. Did you think Zion would come to you unprepared? You might have drugged him, but he came prepared. And good luck; the orange uniform will look good on you.” I let go of her hand, and then she raised her hand to slap me, but I was able to avoid it, and then I smacked her with all of my strength. “That’s for my daughter.” And I continued to smack her while saying, “That’s for my husband,” as I delivered the second blow. She immediately began wailing on the ground as if she were a young child. The police entered the room and placed handcuffs on her.
“You bitch! I will find a way to get to you. I will make sure you pay for this! I know I am pregnant and Zion is the father! You are just jealous!” She gave it a shot, but she didn’t get very far in her sprints. “Officers, she is just jealous that I married Zion, not her?”
Married Zion, not her. No way in hell, you can’t possibly be telling me that she wants to play a mentally disturbed person. It made me laugh. She is doing pretty well. The moment has come for me to investigate the person or people who have been helping Kelly. One thing I know is that it might be her family members, but then one of my guards has betrayed me too. However, at least she is currently incarcerated, and I intend to schedule a meeting with her so that she may reveal the nature of the substance that she injected into my husband. Mishka and Lucas entered the room as I was frantically moving around in my office in various directions.
“You performed well. I was afraid you were going to lose it, yet you remained so composed.” Mishka commented.
“Well, I had to keep on reminding myself that it was for Zion. I was on the verge of slapping her before the whole thing was over, but then I realized that once I was finished with her, I would most certainly slap her. We are going to have a problem.”
“What exactly is the problem?”
“After being taken into custody by the police, she immediately began behaving in a bizarre manner. However, I am one step ahead of her at this point. They might set her free, ruling it as she needs a psychiatrist’s help.”
“No way, Maya!”
“Yes, but I am one step ahead of her, and I will be paying her a visit very soon before the decision is made. I will provide her with a deal that is impossible for her to turn down. But then, of course, I will not set her free, not until I find out who has been helping her.”
After dismissing Lucas and Mishka, I went back to my house. The news regarding Kelly’s arrest was widely disseminated across the internet and all other forms of media. I headed out and told my driver to take me to the hospital. When I arrived at the hospital, Zion was still unconscious. I anticipate having a lot of trouble with this test. I drew a chair and held his hand.
“Hey, baby. So, today I sent Kelly to prison for what she did to you and our daughter. On the other hand, I am becoming increasingly concerned because she has begun behaving in a bizarre manner. I don’t have much time. Kelly couldn’t have done what she did alone. Someone was helping her, and I’m scared that if I don’t act quickly enough, she might get away before I find out what drug she used on you. She was getting help from someone. You really need to help me here, Zion. The management of your company is not a simple endeavor. You need to fight this baby, we need you. I can’t do this alone. I came up with a good plan, but I am scared that I might fail you and our kids. I will fight for us, Zion, and I am not giving up, so don’t you dare give up on us.” I kissed him and left. My kids needed me.
When I got home, I stepped in to see my grandfather and grandmother watching Kelly’s arrest on the television. When they recognized me, they broke into warm smiles and immediately made me feel welcome. Because I was exhausted, I went back to my room, showered, and then went to the room where the children were sleeping. I was breastfeeding when I got a call from an unknown number. I ignored the call, but Mei told me it might be important. I then picked up the call.
Line 2: I will let your husband live if you drop all the charges that have been brought against Kelly. But then, if you choose to be stubborn like your husband, he will not see the end of today.
I froze. I then stood up with my trembling hands, as though I had seen a ghost. I went to my room and called Lucas. I put the call on the loudspeaker so that he could hear.
Line 2: Are you pretending not to hear me or what?
Maya: Sorry, I didn’t hear what you said. Can you please repeat your statement?
Line 2: I said, cancel the charges against Kelly and I will let your husband live. If you do not cancel the charges, I will make sure that your husband doesn’t see another day.
Maya: Ahh, you want to kill my husband? Well, go ahead and try it. Do you really think that you can scare me off?
Line 2: You are just a pathetic young girl who knows nothing.
Maya: I’m glad you called me pathetic, but then if I was that pathetic and you could walk all over me, why did you call me?
Line 2: Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Zion will die today. A dead guy tells no tale.
The person on the other side of the line hung up. I picked up the other phone.
Maya: Did you get the location?
Lucas: On it.
Maya: Increase security outside and inside Zion’s hospital room.
Lucas: Well, the call came from the Martin residence.
Maya: Great, it’s about time I paid them a visit. Especially the old man. Great job to the team!
