~Maya’s POV~
The alarm went off with such a resounding chime at one in the morning, shattering the tranquility of the night and penetrating my auditory canals with its piercing tones. After a few minutes, I was able to open my eyes and turn off the alarm. I took a quick glance around the room before donning my slippers, putting on my bathrobe, and covering myself with it. It had just the right amount of warmth. I got up and started walking towards the door. My eyes immediately widened as soon as I opened the door. My spouse was asleep outside my room, so the allegations were real after all. After everyone had gone to sleep, Zion would come and sleep outside my door. He would wait until everyone was asleep before doing this. Am I a wicked wife? What would the workers think of me? Lucas told me that Zion has never slept in our matrimonial bedroom since the day I moved out. Zion has been sleeping on the floor all this time. I was so close to shedding a tear when I realized how out of his comfort zone he must have felt. I got down on one knee in front of him and gently stroked his cheek. He woke up almost immediately. He stared at me with such sadness in his eyes. I could see he really regret his actions
“I’m sorry.” That’s what he said while I looked at him. “Maya, I am at a point where I can no longer continue like this. I miss you. I miss my wife and kids. Maya, God knows how much I’m sorry for what I did. I miss you. I made a mistake, but I can’t. I can’t take any more of this.” Even though I felt sorry for him, I didn’t want to give him any hope.
“What can’t you take anymore?”
“This is between us. It’s killing me, Maya. I can’t even get near my own children. You hardly eat at the same table as me. Do you know how that makes me feel? You started going for check-ups. I can’t even ask you how the kids are. I…” I cut him off.
“They are fine.” I was very careful to ensure that he was aware of the fact that there are two of them, and that the twins are healthy. I saw a faint smile on his face, then realization hit him.
“Twins!” I nodded my head. He got up off the floor and picked me up. Pervert, he didn’t even take me to the guest room, he carried me to our bedroom. He placed me gently on the bed as though I was an egg and he was scared I would break. I violently crashed my lips on his, and he was taken aback by my actions. He has no idea how much I miss him. He rolled us up, and I was now on top of him. I demanded access to his lips, and he groaned and gave me access. Our bodies were pressed together as our tongues fought for control. Then I felt a kick in my stomach.
“Wooo!” Zion yelled, with his eyes wide open. The kick also caught me off guard. It was so lovely. But wait, were these twins waiting for mommy and daddy to reunite for them to start kicking? I blush at that thought. Zion certainly noticed that. “What’s the matter? Why are you blushing?”
“They have never moved. It is the first time. Were they keeping their eyes peeled for this particular moment in time?” I asked, and Zion smiled and hugged me.
“I swear with my life, Maya, what happened that day was done out of jealousy and it will never happen again. I want this; I want us and I want our kids. ” He planted a passionate kiss on my forehead before enveloping me in a bear grip. He placed his hand on my tummy and we felt another kick. “Sophia, Noah, Daddy is so sorry.” He held me and we both fell asleep. I miss sleeping close to him like this.
The next morning, when I woke up, Zion wasn’t in bed. He has been working from home since I moved out of our bedroom. So I went inside the bathroom and finished with my business. I gave my teeth a good brushing and then I showered. As water poured over my entire body, I felt a light kick coming from both sides at the same time. I couldn’t help but laugh and reach down to rub my stomach. But then I remember that the doctor told me that I would start reading bedtime stories for them, that they could hear sounds, and that I should start talking to them so that they could recognize my voice. But why does it seem as though they have an excessive amount of energy whenever their father is around? little traitors. After emerging from the shower, I made my way downstairs, where I was greeted by my husband, who was cooking in the kitchen while wearing an apron. He drew a chair for me and kissed my forehead.
“Please sit down, My Lady.” I sat and stared at him with a questionable look. I am wondering why he is so excited and preparing breakfast today. He dish up for me and for himself and sat down.
“How was your night?”
“Was it fine and yours?”
“Was awesome. So I didn’t sleep last night. Since the babies have started kicking, I’ve been keeping myself busy doing some research, and while the internet was a good source of information, I still needed to consult with the family doctor to make sure that everything was accurate. So she would be coming to stay here with us till you give birth, then she can go. And we will have to start preparing the children’s room. Oh, not to forget to get some stories to read them throughout the day and night. And I just bought a massage chair for you; it should be arriving anytime from now.” I looked at him and saw how pleased he was as he ticked off the things he had done up to that point while holding his iPad.
“Zion, you want a woman to come and stay here with us? Do you want to get tempted?”
“Are you jealous, Lady Archer?”
“What do you mean, am I jealous? You want a woman to come and stay with us even though my belly will continue to grow larger as each day passes.” He gave me a chuckle before planting a kiss on each of my brows.
“You look so cute when you’re jealous. The doctor is someone you know and well. If she found out I cheated on you, she would slap me 100 times.” My brows furrowed, and he cracked a grin in response. “Baby, my family has a lot of skill. She delivered me and she wanted to deliver her great-grandchildren, too. I tried to talk her out of this, but she insisted and I figured you would be bored if I allowed her to come. It would be fun to do everything with her, babe.”
“Grandma?” I asked, and he nodded. I smiled and kissed him. So you and I need to go shopping before she shows up and starts giving us a lecture. There’s no need to worry about your clothes. I have replaced your wardrobe.” I looked at him. Even though I’m struggling to keep up with everything, I don’t want to dampen his enthusiasm, since I know how much it means to him. Then an unexpected call came in. It was my father. I wonder what he wants…
