Book:One Night Stand Published:2024-5-1

~Zion’s POV~
As soon as I walked into the room, I could see the signs of fatigue beginning to appear on her face. Even though she was resting, I could tell she was exhausted. I was aware that all she required was some rest, but I imagined that these elderly people would be hovering over her. My bloody family and their boundless enthusiasm. The very idea made me laugh out loud. She appeared so pallid earlier. I really hope there is no harm done to the baby. Lord, I dread disappointments. And what if it turns out that she is not pregnant? It’s entirely a figment of my imagination. I’ll keep waiting till the nurse or the doctor comes in. I was alerted to a sound at the door by a rapping.
“Zee baby, can I come in?”
“Yes, grandma.”
She walked in and started massaging Maya’s legs. I observed how thoughtfully she was performing each step, and she gave off the impression that she was having fun doing it. While she was massaging Maya, she kept looking over at me and smiling the whole time.
“As you know, Zee, I performed this action on your mother while she was pregnant with you, and I am aware that your wife is also expecting a child. Could it be that you already knew?”
“Yes, but I was uncertain.” My granny beamed a smile at me.
“Last night, as soon as you stepped in the door carrying her in your arms, I had a good idea that she was pregnant. I could tell by the expression on her face that she was exhausted because she was so pale. But excitement took over when she woke up today. Even though we are getting on in years, we still have plenty of pep in our steps.” She gave me a grin before continuing with what she had been doing before. “The family doctor will be here anytime from now.” She said.
“Grandma, do you believe she will be alright?”
“Stop acting like such a spoiled brat, Zee; there is no need to worry about your wife’s wellbeing. You should hurry into the kitchen and have Oliver cook a ginger and garlic soup for her since it will give her the strength she needs.”
“Alright.”
I knew this was going to happen. My folks don’t care about me anymore. All the love and care have now shifted to Maya. When I entered the kitchen, Oliver was in the process of adding something to the bowl.
“Here, take this; it will help Lady Archer. Go, go, go.” I looked at her with a questionable stare. “Zee, that’s ginger and garlic soup, now go?”
Everyone in this house is concerned about my wife at the moment, but nobody is concerned about me. I mean, I made the baby, it was my dick, I should receive all the praises. But everyone in this darn house wants Lady Maya to be okay. They are making an extraordinary effort to help her, but I haven’t seen anyone make an extraordinary effort to help me. After entering my room, I was greeted by both the family physician and my grandmother. Grandma took the soup and chased me away.
Hold on, this is supposed to be my bedroom! I yelled inside my own head.
Maya will have to pay for all this when she wakes up. I will fuck the living daylight out of her. These folks are my people, yet right now I feel like an alien in my own home because of her. I turned around and went back to the terrace where my grandfather and my father had been laughing at me for the look of frustration on my face.
“Did grandma chase you out?”
“Yep,” I answered, and I sat down to watch them play chess.
“Trust me, it will get worse. This is just the beginning unless you want to make a break for it and head back to J-City. My dad laughed so hard. Son, let me tell you when your mother was pregnant with you, I had a very similar experience to the one you are having. It felt like I was living in a foreign country, even though it was my own home. It was as if your mother was your grandmother’s child, and I was just some random person.” Both of the men laughed at me, and at this point, I’m looking for a decent strategy for my wife and me to get out of this hell before the end of the week.
“Do not even entertain the thought of running away because if you do, granny will have to accompany you back to J-City. Just stay where you are and pretend like you are unaware of what is going on around you.”
I pray and I pray that she won’t forbid me from sleeping with my wife because I am going to die if I stay a day without touching her.
“Zee.” I heard my grandmother calling me. Maybe there is something wrong with my wife. I ran to my wing, leaving the two men to continue laughing at me as they watched me leave. As I approached the front door, I noticed that my wife had already woken up. As I approached her, I had a distinct impression that this was the reason why I had been sent; nevertheless, a hand suddenly halted me in my tracks.
“Bring some water.”
The fuck! We have workers in the house; why should I bring water? Of course I on, y yelled that at the back of my head.
I questioned my grandma by looking at her with a confused expression, “Do you want me to repeat what I just said?” She queried.
“No, ma’am.” Like a good little kid should. The fuck, why did I come back here again?
“Good!”
After I had finished closing my door, my foot came dangerously close to striking it. What is wrong with that old woman? How could she possibly call my name and ask me to bring a glass of water? Lady Maya is just pregnant, not sick. Wait a minute. There is a possibility that my wife is not even pregnant, and yet this woman has already started converting me into a house helper. The fuck grandma!
I got into the kitchen, and Oliver again passed me a glass of water. Hold for a second. Are all of these individuals plotting something against me? How did Oliver know I was here for the ginger and garlic soup before, and how did she know I wanted water now? I brushed everything off as unimportant and went straight back to my room. Grandma reached out with her hand to grab the water, and before I could react, she yelled at me to
“Get out of here!”
Can’t I fucking spend time with my wife? I yelled inside my own head.
“Your wife is expecting a child, so please accept our heartiest congratulations, Lord Archer.” A hand prevented me from running into the bedroom to thank my wife for making me the happiest man alive by giving me the opportunity to be a daddy.
“I said leave the room.”
This is my fucking room, for heaven’s sake!
I can’t curse out loud. I could only mutter curses to myself. I returned to the terrace to discover two men laughing at me.
“Did you get a glass of water?” Grandpa busted out laughing at my father’s question.
Is this some kind of joke? I thought to myself.
“Wait for it, Brian, 3, 2, 1” Grandpa said while laughing
“Zee!”
You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me!
