Laura’s POV

Book:Entangled With The CEO Brothers Published:2024-6-4

In truth, I regretted why I told that lie back then, why I chose to enter The Lynch Family. I thought I could escape the hardships of my childhood, but in reality, I only gained fifteen years of torment.
And this torment would continue indefinitely.
Cameron smirked, lowering himself.
My mind went blank, and I stopped resisting. His domineering possession felt like an even deeper humiliation to me. I bit my lip and looked away, feeling as if I saw Carter standing at the top of the stairs…
Suddenly, my whole body tensed, a chill running down my spine, and my hair stood on end.
“So tight!” Cameron whimpered and slapped on my ass, “What a slut!”
The pain sobered me up quite a bit and as I glanced over, I saw no one there.

The next morning, as I assisted Carter in getting up, I felt somewhat absent-minded. The thought of engaging in such fucking relationships with Cameron for two consecutive nights made me feel ashamed. I kept my head down, not willing to meet Carter’s eyes.
“What’s wrong with you today?” Carter finally asked when I once again buttoned his shirt incorrectly.
“Huh?” I was startled, and my heart pounded, “No… nothing.”
“Didn’t you sleep well last night?” he asked softly.
I remained silent with my head bowed.
“I’m sorry, Laura.” Carter gently touched my head. “Did I disturb your rest? Maybe… I should go back to the guest room.”
“No!” I hastily said.
How could I let him go back to the guest room! We were already married, and we should be sleeping in the same room. But these past two days, I had done everything to betray my husband. I thought if there really is retribution for doing wrong, I should have died a long time ago.
“Carter, don’t go to the guest room. Let’s sleep in the same room. It’s my lucky to take care of you,” I said. “This doesn’t affect my rest. I don’t sleep much anyway, and I can sleep anytime during the day since I’m idle at home.”
“Laura…”
His comforting tone nearly brought tears to my eyes. I desperately wanted to confide in him about the events of the past two days, but as the words reached my lips, I swallowed them back down.
“I know you’re bored at home,” Carter sighed and held my hand. “Marrying me has made you suffer.”
“Don’t say that.”
“I actually talked to mom about letting you go to work,”
To be frank, I did want to go to work. After being dependent on The Lynch Family for over a decade, I’ve had enough. It wasn’t a sustainable situation. Women should strive for independence, especially considering my college education and journalism studies. I hoped to make good use of my education.
“But…” Carter sighed, “Mom’s idea is still to have you stay at home.”
“Yeah, I understand.” I nodded. As a foster daughter, I couldn’t have too many extravagant expectations.
“Laura, don’t be disheartened,” he said again, “Otherwise, how about this… when you have a child, I’ll bring up this matter with mom again. By then, she might agree if she’s in a good mood, right??”
Having a child? I looked at him in surprise.
Carter lowered his head, rubbing his hands back and forth uneasily.
“Carter,” I pondered for a while, then spoke softly, “Actually, what mom said makes sense… I should stay comfortably at home by your side. But, Carter, I also want to do something of my own. Can you understand me?”
“Of course!” Carter nodded eagerly, “Laura, I don’t want to be a burden to you.”
“Carter…” My tears couldn’t help but fall. “Carter, you’re not a burden to me, you’re my husband.”
“I’ll have a child for you.” I looked at him carefully. “But after having a child… could you, please, talk to your mom again about me going to work?”
“Laura…”
Carter stared at me in a daze, a glimmer of excitement passing over his pale face. His lips trembled slightly. “You… you really want to have a child for me?”
I felt deeply saddened, seeing him like this made me feel guilty. I was his wife, and having children for him was a natural duty. Now, it seemed as if I was bestowing something upon him.
But for some reason, the thought of having a child made me feel inexplicably uncomfortable.
“Laura, I’m really happy that you can agree to this!” His smile was genuine.
If this could comfort him, it would also be a way of repaying his kindness over these years.
“Oh, there’s one more thing…” Carter frowned again. “About Cameron…”
