“Young Master?” Steward saw that Sidney seemed to have fallen into a trance, and he asked softly, “Should the final plan be brought on the agenda beforehand?”
Sidney snapped out of his trance. Yet, he still had to think about what he least wanted to think about. He worked his tail off to tailor a revenge plan in order to break Robert’s mask in the public eye, to make him lose his reputation and to make him the liar everyone scorned.
He had gathered a lot of evidence, but Robert’s perfect image had been so deeply ingrained in the public mind that the evidence was not enough to defeat him completely.
If Sidney wanted to win against Robert, the most important trump card for him was Aubree.
“It’ll be soon.” Sidney knew very well that things had come to a point where they could be perfectly wrapped up, but he always felt that Aubree was not yet capable of surviving on her own.
When the plan was completed, everyone would know who Aubree was and they would take a distorted view of her. By the time, she would no longer have everything she had now, and her life would turn into a darkness.
Sidney couldn’t bear to do this to her.
But he had no choice.
At this moment, Sidney’s cell phone suddenly rang, it was a call made by Aubree. Sidney glanced at the phone, but didn’t extend his hand to answer it.
Steward understood Sidney’s true intention, so he answered the phone and turned on the speakerphone mode.
“Miss, Young Master is still busy.”
“Can you give him the phone? I want to hear him say something, otherwise I really feel uneasy about him.” Aubree’s anxious voice came into Sidney’s ears.
“Young Master will call you back when he is free.”
“Well, tell him not to be too tired and that health is most important. I’ll wait for him at home.” With those words, Aubree hung up the phone.
Hearing Aubree’s soft and well-behaved voice, Sidney’s icy eyes suddenly became soft.
The woman who cared about him the most in this world had to be used by him ruthlessly. Everyone in this world lived with a mask, and so did he.
And it was ridiculous that the only person with a pure heart had to be hurt by him mercilessly.
“You keep an eye on him, and let me know as soon as you spot a straw in the wind.” Sidney arose from the couch, physically and mentally exhausted. He originally didn’t intend to go home, but once he heard Aubree’s voice, he finally changed his decision after some hesitation.
He wanted to go back and see her.
Sidney drove himself home. Just as he walked through the doorway, he found Aubree lying on the sofa, falling asleep with a cushion in her arms.
He walked up to Aubree, and when he looked at her up close, he noticed that her face was covered with traces of tears. At once, his heart melted and he reached out to caress her face, his eyes filled with heartache for her.
Sidney didn’t expect that she was so worried about him.
Aubree’s long and dense eyelashes trembled slightly, her lips moved as she called out vaguely, “Uncle Sidney.”
Sidney’s eyes covered with concern suddenly added pain, and he couldn’t help but slowly leaned down and left a kiss at the corner of Aubree’s eyes.
He kissed the stains of her tears, feeling the turmoil inside her.
Aubree felt an odd sensation, she opened her eyes and found that Sidney was actually kissing her! Sidney used to kiss her on the forehead only, but this time he kissed the corners of her eyes and her face. Aubree’s heart was thumping hard.
Her cheeks instantly became scorching and she didn’t dare to move until Sidney’s kiss left her cheeks.
“Uncle… Uncle Sidney…” Aubree’s eyes widened and she looked nervous. In fact, she did nothing, but she spit out the words as if she had done something wrong.
“Why don’t you sleep in your room?”
“I’m waiting for you, how are your injuries? Is it serious?” Aubree looked at the injury on his forehead with concern. Steward didn’t lie to her, it was indeed a very small superficial wound.
But even if it was a superficial injury, she still felt it was serious.
Sidney picked her up from the sofa, but Aubree uncharacteristically didn’t let him hug her.
“Uncle Sidney, you’re hurt, don’t hold me like that.” Aubree was actually shy. As she recalled the way Sidney kissed her just now, she didn’t dare to make eye contact with him.
“It’s not a big deal.” Instead of letting go of her, Sidney hugged her tighter and his tone seemed charming, “You’re mine, so I can hug you as much as I want.”
